CHAPTER 1298: THE ENEMY SEEKS REVENGE

"Bastard!" Sloth realised this was all part of William’s scheme, even Fang jumped to that conclusion as well. Yet the two knew he wasn’t bluffing or making things up. He stuck here with them to work over the preparations while taking care of the den. But after that, the den would be free once more and it’d release Chimeras once again.

Even Sloth couldn’t help but admit that he got played right into William’s hands. He even doubted he and Fang could stop the Chimeras coming out from the den!

"Dammit kid! I’ll stay here then," despite not willingly admitting it, but Sloth couldn’t leave other masters behind in such danger to just guard against William’s greed, "you can leave now and work on that plan of yours."

By saying these words, Sloth threw lots of rings towards William. The latter caught the rings, stored them away, smiling in content, "not right away, as I said already, I need to keep that den in check."

"At least you’ve some conscience," Fang tried to mediate between these two, "you can start now, and leave the task of defending this area to us."

"Ok old man," William waved, not towards Fang, but Sloth.

"I swear if not for what he accomplished and can accomplish, I’d have killed him!" Sloth gritted his teeth while clenching hard on his big sword, and Fang couldn’t help but bitterly smile.

"How can he be this genius and annoying at the same time?" Fang muttered to himself, before returning to the fight, alongside all enraged Sloth.

Watching these two lump into the fight like this made William feel more relieved, "last thing I needed was for that old sneaky man to keep an eye over what I’m going to do," William looked at the bomb at the ground, and the den flying meters away from him.

His real intentions weren’t just in detonating the bomb, but in also acquiring the Chimeras’ den to himself! The den already lost its master when he killed Lingerie. And if he had some chance before in getting that den, now his chances skyrocketed by leaps and bounds.

Lingerie’s death wasn’t the only reason behind this; the materials he acquired also played a great role. "To take you home, babe, I need to exhaust a scary amount of materials to forge something very special for you," William muttered to himself, while gazing at the den.

"But first, I need to finish the setups for that bomb," William knew he had a long task in front of him, and so he started working without focusing on anything else but that.

The formations needed to strengthen the underground city and turn it into a fortress were a group of stronghold foundation formations. William had a very high experience in dealing with these arrays, be it forming them or destroying them in upper realm wars.

He wasn’t worried about the bomb destroying these formations, after all the way to destroy them was quite complicated and needed lots of preparations as well.

The formations worked as if they were part of a great machine, like wheels in a clock. William knew he had to pay extra attention to every detail in making these formations, and laying them down later on. If he missed even the tiniest detail, he’d end up screwing everything.

That was why he got totally absorbed in making the formation cores, not paying attention to anything around except for the den. He didn’t notice the flashing lights of the portal, the more masters coming from the outer world, or the deadly fights that kept happening at this spot in particular.

Sloth and Fang thought this was thanks to being close to the portal. Yet the two didn’t know the news of Lingerie’s death spread, not only in the forces fighting here, but also back to the palace. The palace got stirred up and sent some of their strongest masters and even some of their high-ups to oversee the ongoing war!

This wasn’t all! The news when spread carried Wiliam’s name as the one who was leading the lower realm forces, and the one who killed Lingerie. That made William public enemy number one for the entire palace forces, and they knew how he looked from the recording crystals the palace received.

That was why when any new forces appeared, they first searched for William’s spot, and sent most of their strongest masters over to kill him!

At first Sloth and Fang thought the increasing pressure they were facing was normal. But slowly a thought swept deep into their minds, "it’s as if they are targeting us on purpose..." Fang muttered, while killing a group of masters using his deadly lighting.

"I can’t think of any reason but him," Sloth pointed towards the nearby William, who was totally immersed in his work, "it’s like they want to reach and kill him!"

"Those damn bastards," Fang gulped an elixir bottle, "we need more help here it seems."

"I already sent for that," Sloth looked back, "but weirdly not much appeared here yet."

"Let me check," during this heated up battle, the two of them couldn’t spare to spread out their spiritual sense to check over the overall situation. They couldn’t afford to distract themselves in such a deadly war, where only a single mistake was needed to lose one’s life.

"Since when did those bastards move such numbers to separate us?!" When Fang saw the thick layers of masters standing between their small group and the huge bulk of the army, he couldn’t help but frown.

He exchanged silent looks with Sloth, before turning over to look at William. From the moment this war started, William played the role of their leader in a very effective way. He was the person responsible for reading out the map, seeing through the enemy incoming moves, and acting fast to intercept and foil the enemy plans!

Since he went over to work on the bomb solution this grand role became empty, and no one moved to fill it out.
