CHAPTER 93: NO WAY OUT

Logan panted heavily, blood dripping from his knuckles. That last stunt had taken everything out of him.

He had saved the prince and his royal guard... but they all were still in danger.

One-fifth of the monsters still remained—and more importantly, the Orc wasn’t down for good.

"Damn it... I should’ve trained even harder. If I make it out of this alive, I’ll train like the world ends tomorrow."

His breathing was heavy, like each one was a struggle.

"And that damn bastard... Why the hell did it leave me and attack the others instead?"

His thoughts raced. Based on the Orc’s behavior, it had been targeting the weaker ones first—first the hunter tier three water affinity. Then it attacked Rowan. Who was a bit weaker compared to Gilbert and the other tier three hunter with fire and earth affinity.

That wasn’t normal.

Monsters were supposed to be mindless beasts, charging at the closest threat. But this... this was something else. The Orc wasn’t just strong—it was thinking.

Logan was still caught in his thoughts when the remaining monsters surged forward.

He braced himself to react, but just then....

A tremor.

Dust flew into the air.

It was the Orc. Then it stirred.

Then, without warning, it sprang into a sitting position.

"Damn it..." Logan cursed under his breath. "Why won’t it stay down?"

The Orc rose to its feet and charged straight at him.

Logan gritted his teeth. This wasn’t like before—he wasn’t just fighting the Orc now. The horde of goblins and dire wolves were also closing in. Dozens of bloodthirsty monsters, and all of them were coming for him.

Rowan and Gilbert were down. Neither would be able to fight unless a miracle occurred. That left Logan... and the older hunter, who was still fending off dire wolves on the other side.

The Orc already closed in and threw a punch.

Logan ducked under the punch, narrowly avoiding it, then turned and sprinted toward the hunter.

He stopped just behind him, pressing his back against the man’s.

"Sir, we’re in deep trouble," Logan said, voice low but firm. "We have to hold them off until help arrives."

The hunter didn’t turn. Fire flew from his palm and consumed two dire wolves.

"And....and what if no one does?" He was already exhausted from the prolonged fight. He wanted to survive. But deep down, he didn’t believe they could.

"Then we hold until we fall," Logan replied. "There’s no other choice."

The hunter was silent for a moment. Then he nodded.

"All right. Let’s do it."

They stood back to back, covering each other’s blind spots and guarding one another. And continued fighting as the wave of monsters came crashing in.

"Name’s Solemon," the hunter said while burning down two goblins. "Figured I should know the name of the kid I’ll probably die beside." He was actually quite curious about Logan. After what he saw, anyone would feel the same.

Logan replied without hesitation.

"Logan. Logan Smith. From Aerundale."

There was no more talk after that.

There was no time.

They fought with everything they had left.

Logan clenched his fists, forcing his magic to flow even through the pain. A fire blaze erupted from his palms, consuming five goblins and three dire wolves. He grunted and turned—just in time to see the Orc charging at him again.

He raised his hand, manipulating gravity to slow it down. The Orc’s steps grew heavier for a moment, but it didn’t stop. Logan threw a fireball—whoosh—but the Orc slashed it aside with its axe and kept coming.

"Damn it..."

Logan growled and cast again. A lightning orb erupted from his palm and flew toward the Orc. But the Orc slashed it aside again and kept coming.

"What should I do?" Logan’s mind raced, desperate for an idea.

The Orc was almost there.

"Shift places " Solemon said.

With that both of them changed places. Solemon brought up three earth walls one after another.

The Orc still broke through all the walls but its speed decreased significantly. And just when he smashed the last wall, a blazing fireball welcomed him.

The attack came as a surprise and the Orc didn’t have any time to react.

The fireball slammed in his chest and sent him flying.

But it angered the Orc even more. It sprinted toward the duo. Solemon followed the same trick. But this time the Orc didn’t fall for it. It jumped over the wall and went for Solemon and Logan.

"Shit!" This time it was Solemon’s turn to be shocked. He had never seen or heard of a monster adapting like this.

The Orc came down with his axe slashing at both Logan and Solemon.

Solemon tried to form another barrier and raise it higher, then prepared for his next attack to achieve surprise again.

But what happened next, totally shocked him again.

The Orc threw its axe. It broke the wall and continued charging forward. Solemon deflected it with an earth spike. But next moment, the Orc’s fist slammed on his chest.

Solemon flew back like a ragdoll. And hit a wall. Before Logan could even react, a kick welcomed him. Logan flew back as well. He slammed into a wagon, shattering it on impact. Dust flew.

Whatever spirit they had left, vanished in that moment. The Orc slowly walked toward Logan. The other monsters also surrounded both him and Solemon. There was no more way out. He thought he could manage it. He thought he had trained enough. He thought his advantage with cultivation would give him an edge. But he was wrong.

The Orc stood before Logan. It raised its leg, ready to stomp him into the ground.

But suddenly.....

A large hammer came flying with a humming sound. It hit the Orc’s back. The Orc flew back.

A huge fire ball came from upward. And slammed on the horde of goblins and dire wolves. Dust filled the whole area. Logan couldn’t see anything. But the dust slowly started to fade. And then he saw...

A group of people were walking toward them.

And at the front a person was rushing.

Daliah!
