"What should we do, do you think anyone saw me with you..."

Nianyang felt a pang of worry. Her concerns differed from Li Tingyan’s; she feared that if someone saw them getting intimate under the tree, nasty rumors would spread everywhere.

After all, she was still a high school student, spending the midnight hours cuddling with a man beneath a tree. If this was exposed, she wouldn’t just get a demerit that could affect her college entrance exams, but Li Tingyan would also be affected negatively.

Nianyang shot him a glance, "You’re the one who insisted on pulling me in, acting all sneaky like we’re having an affair. If the teachers or students saw us, we’d be doomed. The atmosphere is so strict right now, and I haven’t even graduated yet. You behaving inappropriately with me at school affects both of us."

Li Tingyan immediately tensed up, a bit frustrated as he said, "I thought no one would come to the field this late. I’m sorry, Nini, I’ll hold back next time and not fool around with you outside."

"Alright, even if someone saw us, it’s not a big deal. At most, there’ll be some nasty rumors. There’s no surveillance here, as long as I don’t admit anything, it’ll be fine!"

Nianyang said nonchalantly, not wanting Li Tingyan to feel mentally burdened.

Li Tingyan, however, took it to heart. The impact wasn’t significant to him, but Nini was taking her college entrance exams soon, and he couldn’t let such an incident affect her. He needed to come up with a foolproof plan.

This little episode drained their interest in continuing the conversation, so Li Tingyan escorted Nianyang to her dormitory entrance, watched her go inside, and then left.

He thought coming to school would allow him to see his girlfriend more often, but after this incident, they’d better keep their distance for now. After all, there was less than a month left.

When Nianyang returned to the dorm, everyone was still awake. As she entered, she saw Yang Haiyan undressing, getting ready for bed, and when Yang Haiyan noticed her watching, she turned away in a fluster.

Nianyang squinted, not missing the sweat on Yang Haiyan’s forehead; it was clear she had just returned not long ago.

She kept it in mind, went to her bed, and Luo Lanzhen, who was reading across from her, asked, "Where did you go?"

Nianyang smiled, "I was down in the garden reviewing some vocabulary before coming up."

As she spoke, she noticed Yang Haiyan glancing over at her again, her eyes flickering.

Nianyang whispered to Jiang Tian, "When did Yang Haiyan come back?"

Jiang Tian replied softly, "Not long ago, she was in quite a rush. Why are you asking?"

"No particular reason, just curious."

Nianyang casually brushed it off, feeling almost certain that the person who was spying on her and Li Tingyan on the field earlier was her.

A slight smirk appeared at the corner of her mouth. It seemed Yang Haiyan still hadn’t given up on opposing her.

Whatever.

Bring it on.

Nianyang, with a carefree attitude, went to sleep. Her hunch was correct; Yang Haiyan was quick to stir up trouble.

By the next morning, rumors were widely circulating throughout the school about her engaging in inappropriate acts with a man on the field the previous night.

People love to exaggerate when spreading rumors, passing it along with embellishments until it seemed as though everyone had witnessed it personally.

On her way to class, Nianyang garnered plenty of whispers and pointing fingers. Given the stringent atmosphere, student dating was absolutely not tolerated. Nianyang was misbehaving with a man at school; how could they not point fingers and criticize her?
