Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha
Chapter 357: Calling Us Inept
CHAPTER 357: CALLING US INEPT
"I did—"
"Then I do not see any further reasons to talk about this," Seth spoke in a no-nonsense manner. "You had your chance and you blew it, Alpha Cherith. I am not your nanny, and you are not a five-year-old kid, and neither is Miss Inez a little doll that you threw away and can snatch right back just because you want her after no longer wanting her. So sit your ass back down; we have matters more important than your love triangle to deal with."
His voice cracked like a whip, making everyone flinch under the pressure as his dominance seeped into every molecule of the room.
"Quiet down," Tao hissed as he pulled Dominic back down on his chair. "Do you want to make this situation any more problematic than it already is? I know that you are angry, but Seth is right. We need to discuss matters more important than this."
Domini’s jaw worked as he processed the words of his beta, his desire to rush ahead and snatch Inez from Killian or to listen to the head of the council. It was almost endearing to see the man try and fight his instincts, as they caused conflicts.
Finally, he settled down. Still angry but a bit more restrained. However, his posture was no different from a wolf that was determined to attack and with his eyes focused on Inez, Tracy was half certain that the man was determined to do it the second Seth’s back was turned.
Hmm, it was indeed quite exciting. No wonder these kids like to add a kick of spice every now and then.
"Now that we are over that little spectacle, we can begin with the current situation at hand." Once again, the head of the council began speaking in that slow and controlled tone. "Miss Witch, would you like to tell us just what you are doing here? And why did you turn the entire shifter council upside down?"
"It’s Tracy," Tracy remarked, leaning back in her chair but keeping her eyes on the head of the council. "And I think you are being overdramatic. I didn’t do anything that would require a specially arranged meeting."
No sooner did she finish speaking than everyone turned to look at her, and even with her being as strong-willed as a brick wall, Tracy felt a tinge of embarrassment flash in her heart. "Anyway, I had to intervene before things got really troublesome; if not, then the guards of your prison would have done something much worse to Inez, and that would have caused a lot of trouble." A pause. "For you."
"She is right about that." Killian chimed in from the side. He glanced at Seth and remarked, "Not like you aren’t in trouble already. I have yet to see any punishment for the torment that my mate had to go through at the hands of your enforcers."
A growl ripped through the silence of the air, but everyone ignored it, including Inez.
"The man who punished her is dead. What more do you want?" Seth questioned with a hint of annoyance.
"Which brings us back to the real problem," said the man with a special distaste for lycans. Noah turned to look at Seth with his hands interlocked on top of the table. "Alpha Sokolov killed more than twenty enforcers and one head guard. I don’t think there is any excuse to prove that what he did... There was not a thing wrong with it."
"If I may... I think I did a pretty good job in clearing up the scum of the council." Killian pressed his hand on top of Inez, who was nervously rubbing her fingers together because of Dominic’s constant glare pointed at the top of her head. She had tried glaring back, but the man was simply proving too stubborn. "Someone who cannot even follow a simple rule, such as not touching a crucial victim in an important case... I wonder why you were even paying him. Did you ever stop to think how many innocents were killed due to this negligence of yours?"
"Are you saying that I failed in fulfilling my duty?" The man lunged to his feet so quickly that he created afterimages of himself.
"I never said that. I only meant that you are not fulfilling it properly. There is a heavy difference."
"Enough!"
Seth’s loud voice boomed in the conference room. "Stop acting like little kids before I make you sit next to one and hold hands. That includes you, Dominic, so stop with that glaring."
The three men whipped their heads to look at the head of the council, their expressions filled with shock and terror. One look at Seth’s expression and they knew that he was not joking with them.
He then flicked his gaze, ignoring the many blaming eyes that were staring at him. "Continue, Miss Tracy."
Tracy shrugged. Not the least bothered by the fact that three big, bad wolves were staring at her. "What else is there to say? I just did what I thought was right, and I needed to stop this demigod from intervening any further than she already had."
"You are hiding something," Seth pointed out, to which Tracy simply crossed her arms over her bosom and stated, "Even if I was... will it change something? I don’t believe that your kind are wise enough to understand the dangerous situation they are in at the moment. If they were, then they would be on guard instead of ...dumping innocent people in the dungeons."
"Are you calling us inept?"
"No, I am calling you idiots."
The councilman, Mister Hones... no, was it Mister Stones—Ah, it was Mister Jones. He slowly got to his feet and snarled at her face, and Tracy flicked a finger. A casual gesture like she was brushing away the dirt stuck to her clothes – and a second later, the air in the room reacted. The man rose in the air and then bam!
The impact of his back hitting the wall of the room created a nice and satisfying thud.
