Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha
Chapter 374: He Killed the Lead
CHAPTER 374: HE KILLED THE LEAD
The curtains softly wavered against the wind that drifted from the forest through the countless windows that were left open in one of the rooms of the council. The corridors had long been deserted and no voices could be heard from outside. Inside the room, Seth was staring at Killian with a look of displeasure on his face. It was because he simply asked the man to deal with the Silver Dawn pack and never asked him to touch the enforcers in the prison building.
"Why did you kill them? Do you even know how many apology letters and how much compensation I will have to hand out to these families? They might not be from a strong pack but if they rebelled against the council, it will be a really problematic situation."
"Why are you handing out compensation to fools who cannot understand simple comprehensive sentences? I asked them to not do it and they ignored what I asked them to do and did their own thing," Killian questioned back. He took one last drag of his vape and placed it down on the table. "I believe that handing out compensations to their families will give out the wrong message. I mean, why would they think it was alright for them to imprison two innocent women and torment them without your orders?"
Seth placed his hand on his forehead. "You do understand that the elders will not be pleased? Not to forget, you have given quite a lot of matter to Noah to start another rally against the lycans."
"They touched my mate."
"A valid reason for the crashout but still," Seth sounded apologetic yet enraged how he managed to do it, Killian had no idea. "Jones is still cleaning up the mess that you left behind. I am half certain that the man might be really upset with you at the moment and given the relationship you shared with Alpha Remy, I can assure you that tomorrow is going to be a field day for all of us."
When Killian didn’t speak, Seth leaned forward in his chair and smacked the surface of the table with his hands. His eyes narrowed dangerously and it was remarkable how threatening he looked despite having the face of an angel. "A simple job, Kill. I asked you to do a simple task. All you needed was to go to the Silver Dawn pack, find out what was happening and then return without doing anything that will cause trouble for you, me or the council. An entire pack was annihilated; I perceive the elders are going to make a lot of fuss."
"They were dead already."
This was ridiculous. He had brought evidence to prove that the Silver Dawn Pack had long been infiltrated by the witches and yet Seth was telling him that he should have held back. Like hell, he could have done that.
Killian drummed his fingers on the surface of the table and with a sickly sweet smile, he asked, "Did you catch the bit where I told you that they were trying to kill me? It was either getting killed or killing them. It wasn’t like I had a lot of choice when I was about to be sacrificed, damn it. Why don’t you go and try it sometime? Maybe you will catch my drift?"
He didn’t care if he was being extremely sarcastic. Someone was not understanding the severity of the situation here, so what was he supposed to do?
"I do understand it." Seth exclaimed, sounding overly harassed. He raised his hand and placed it over his eyes before stating in a low voice, "However, you also need to understand that the elders are being rather anti-witches and magic at the moment. They will not accept that all this time I was speaking the truth and the attacks were made by the witches. They will certainly claim that the hollow that you brought back with you is nothing but a gimmick that we have arranged. And the one who caught him is you—"
"And they all will think that I am lying because I am a lycan?"
This was nothing new, as lycans were not necessarily trusted. They were considered good assassins but not trustworthy aides.
"That’s right," Seth sighed as he rubbed his head with a hint of tiredness in his eyes. "The one who was suspected to kill turned out to be your mate. And then you killed a bunch of enforcers and took her away, no matter how you try to prove it, unless we have another testimony... the elders will not listen."
"Then the witch’s."
"Do you believe that they would take the words of a witch seriously?" Seth shook his head. He wanted to approach this matter much more cautiously but he never thought that the head of the dungeons would be this arrogant.
"This won’t do and that won’t do. Why don’t you ask Noah what we should do then?" Killian tilted his head to one side and asked fluidly.
A second later, there was a knock on the door from the other side.
"This is Noah reporting along with Jones," came Noah’s voice and Seth turned to look at Killian. He sighed and spoke in a resigned tone, "Come in." It seemed like his nap was bound to be interrupted.
When Noah entered the room, his jaw tightened when he saw Killian sitting in the office already. He ignored the man and turned to look at Seth. "I see that you haven’t gone to sleep, Head of the council."
"No. I had some issues that I needed to resolve," he serenely smiled at Seth and Jones before questioning, "Is there something that you two wanted to say to me?"
"I want to file a complaint against Alpha Sokolov," said Jones. He glared at Killian and tattletailed, "He took away the accused involved in Miss Lola’s case. Not only that, but he didn’t tell me anything about the lead that he had caused which led to the deaths of so many enforcers; now I am being hounded by their families for explanations. What am I supposed to tell them? That too for a lead—which cannot be shown to the public."
