Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha
Chapter 375: He Killed the Lead (II)
CHAPTER 375: HE KILLED THE LEAD (II)
"And with all due respect, what do you mean by ’the lead cannot be shown to anyone’?" Killian asked, sensing something amiss. He turned and looked at Noah, who still refused to meet his gaze but given that the man had stayed quiet till now and had not jumped up to accuse him of something treacherous, he knew that there was something these two were hiding. He fluidly rose to his feet and glanced at the two men. "What happened to the lead?"
Finally Noah broke the silence. "When Elder Norman heard that Alpha Sokolov had caught a hollow that had been bewitched by the witches, he thought that his personal safety was at great risk despite the beta of the Silver Dawn Pack being really weak. He brought in his own enforcers and demanded that we should put him down at once before the monstrosity could attack anyone—"
"We told him that you will not agree, Seth," snapped Jones, he sounded quite harassed; even though he wanted to become the member of the inner council, he had a bottom line and what Elder Norman did crossed that boundary. "We told him that you will never agree but he didn’t listen. He brought his enforcers with him and when we refused to listen to him, he turned a deaf ear to what we told him and then killed the man or whatever it was. Now that the thing is gone, who are we going to show in front of the people of these families? They will simply think that we are showing them a dug-out corpse and inducing fear into them just like the elders claimed earlier!"
As soon as the two finished speaking, a maniacal grin cracked on his lips. Killian looked at the two men and questioned, "I hope you two are not telling me that someone killed the only lead that I caught without the orders of the head of the council?"
"It was not a heavy blow, Killian. Calm down."
An imperative voice drifted inside the office and Elder Norman strutted inside with his beta. He cast a dismissive glance at Killian and turned to look at Seth. "What is with this continuous fuss, Seth? I thought that you had much better control over the council and its members. But it seems like I was quite wrong. You certainly lack it." He spoke in a slow drawl, which made Killian clench his fists while Seth smiled calmly.
"Are they the ones who are causing a fuss?" Seth asked with his fingers interlocked, as he set his elbows on the table.
Elder Norman scoffed. "And who do you think is causing a fuss here? Me?"
"I certainly think so; if not why would you bring a bunch of enforcers in the prison cells and kill the only lead of the case that could have proven that witches have once again risen to power, Elder Norman?" Seth asked while looking at the man as if he was seeing him for the first time.
Elder Norman’s eyes widened. "Utter nonsense. I assure you that there is no such thing; that man was nothing but a poor innocent being trapped in the dungeons of the lycans’s territory." He glanced at Killian with a look of contempt. "That poor man couldn’t even speak two comprehensive sentences or words, how do we know that he was bewitched by a witch and not a tormented soul? I believe that this is something that the lycan alpha came up with to mask his hideous intentions."
"And I believe that you can be a fantastic villain in a third-grade movie but here we are," Killian hummed.
Elder Norman narrowed his eyes and turned to look at Seth. "You seriously cannot believe a thing that is coming out of this lycan’s mouth, Seth. they are prone to lying and I have heard all about how he claimed that woman as his mate. How do we know that this was not a ploy played by the lycans to save that woman?" He turned to look at Noah and remarked, "You should know this better than me, Noah."
Noah gritted his jaw and glared at the man.
"Alright, alright, I am sorry for rubbing salt in your wounds," Elder Norman raised his hands in the air. "Anyway, you have to agree with what I say, Seth. there is a very good chance that Killian is lying."
"And yet there was no reason for you to kill that lead," said Seth, his voice calm but anyone could hear the anger in his voice.
"Kill? I put that man out of his misery—"
"You could have done that after I was done questioning him; you didn’t need to kill him right away!"
Before Killian could intervene, Finn’s voice dropped into his mind. The pack link opened without a warning. It happened with such a force that even his beast was startled awake within him and jumped in the air, as he hadn’t expected it to happen.
You need to listen to me before getting angry.
The intensity behind his words made Killian frown. He ignored the quarrel that was getting heated with every second and turned all his attention to what Finn was telling him, his expression full of impassivity lest someone notice something wrong with him.
He was already being treated as a liar; he didn’t want Elder Norman to jump on his case even harder.
They were killed. All of them. That witch, the one who sucked in the life essence of the Silver Dawn Pack came and killed these people. You should see the mess in here. It’s really terrifying. This place is fucked. More than just fucked. It reeks of blood. Rotten to the core. This is something that I have never seen before. I don’t know what to do.
As he spoke, he opened the pack link even further, and Killian could smell the rotten stench. He even caught a few glimpses of the sight that he was seeing and his stomach flipped.
