iShe truly doesn’t fear you, does she? /i

His beast remarked as the three of them set down in the dungeons that were built under the territory; this was to make sure that the criminals or trespassers caught wouldn’t be able to escape.

"And that’s why I don’t fucking trust her," he growled. Killian was still upset with Tracy over her tant disregard for the imprinting. He was certain that he and Inez had imprinted, but the woman paid no heed to what he said and simply dismissed him by telling him not to dream with his eyes open. Like hell he was dreaming. "I have never seen anyone like her before. Clearly, she either doesn’t know fear or she is simply a fool. And she doesn’t look like one. I let slip my dominant vibes earlier, and this woman didn’t even blink. She was so fucking calm; it is eerie." Of course, he only released a fragment of his dominant vibes because he didn’t want Inez to think that he was scaring her friend.

However, even then, Tracy didn’t look the slightest bit perturbed by his vibes.

iShe is not afraid of lycans. The way she looks at us is like she has seen and dealt with many lycan alphas before. It’s really creepy. /i

"Exactly." Walking around a corner, he nced at the woman who was walking next to Inez. "And what do you think she wants from Inez? Sure, she is a siren, and she knows that she is a siren, but first of all, how does she even know that and secondly, why chase after Inez? There are countless sirens whom she could have chosen to protect, so why the hell did she pick Inez? What is the reason behind it—"

iMaybe she has something that she wants very much from Inez. /i

Killian paused and frowned. "What do you mean?"

iThat witch knows that Inez is a siren; the way she speaks is no different from a seer. Like she knows the future or something of the sort. Maybe she knows something. About Inez. About us or our connection with Inez. She did say that Inez was different from every other siren we know. /i

A chill ran through Killian. He had considered many angles, like the witch wanting to use Inez to trap him or take advantage of Inez’s connection to him, but he had not considered that there was something different about Inez. Was there really something different about her?

iOf course there is. Do you think I am going to fall for someone just like that? /i

Killian felt his head buzz with annoyance. He didn’t want to bother with his beast and his stupid arrogance at the moment. This matter was of utmost seriousness. He couldn’t bear to listen to his nonsense. Inez was different? How... what kind of powers was she hiding for her to be different from other sirens? And why? What made her different?

All kinds of questions flooded his head, but he didn’t have the time to think them over. He strode past the guards who were standing on either side of the prison entrance and pushed open the iron door. As soon as he stepped past the old, dpidated and rotting gate, he smelled the scent of blood, fear, sweat and a sour stink of living waste.

Scrunching up his nose, he stared down at the stairs and climbed down. The sound of footsteps echoed in the silent corridor, along with the whimpers of those trapped inside the cells. As he approached the end of the corridors, he turned around and looked at Inez and Tracy before saying to them, "Make sure that you follow me closely."

"Why?" Inez asked. Her mind snapped out of the thoughts and the exnation that Tracy had just given her.

However, before Killian could respond, a loud whirring sound echoed behind her, and Inez turned to look behind her with a whip of her head. The simple corridor had now split into two halves and was now headed in two different directions instead of the one from where they came. Startled, she turned and looked at Killian, who seemed unbothered by the change and was now tapping on the three bricks in front of him.

    "What’s this—"

"Fae magic". Tracy was the one who responded. She nced at her and calmly stated in a soft voice, "I can smell the scent of Fae." She frowned and nced at the man in front of her. "You have a fae in your pack, don’t you? Or maybe someone who is part fae."

Killian simply nced at her without saying a word to her, and the witch bared her teeth. She hated it when the lycans pretended to be a fucking mysterious force, which they certainly were not.

The wall in front of them jerked like someone had hammered it from the inside, and a secondter, it divided into two halves and then parted cleanly. With the two halves of the wall moving to opposite sides, the space behind them was revealed, and Inez gasped when she saw the space behind it. It was —simply humungous and scary. Totally scary.

The ce was dark and smelled of nothing but blood and the sour stink of fear, terror and tears. Yup, she could taste the salty air, or maybe it was just the ocean.

"Stay close," Killian repeated as he walked past the space that had appeared in the wall, and Inez, exchanging a nce with Tracy, followed after him. The three of them strode past the dark corridor, which was lit up with a dim red lighting that Inez thought would certainly fit in a horror movie. She didn’t say it out loud, but she was half expecting a ghost to pop out from somewhere.

"Killian", Finn, who stood at the end of the corridor staring at the big lump in the middle of the cell, raised his head and looked behind him when he heard the sound of footsteps. "You are here."
