Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha
Chapter 316: Silver Dawn Pack
h4Chapter 316: Silver Dawn Pack/h4
The moon had barely risen, and yet Killian couldn’t stop pacing around the pack hall. He could sense that there was something amiss, but with the current situation, he had no chance to go out and look for Inez. He stared at Seth, who stared right back at him. "You seem to be worried about something. What a rare sight. I have never seen something like this before. A fretting lycan. Should I call someone to capture it?"
"What do you want, Seth?" Killian asked, barely concealing the rage and worry bubbling in his body. "If there is nothing more than teasing me, then I guess I will take my leave."
"Sit down." Seth picked up a teacup and poured some chamomile tea into it. "There is something that I would like to discuss with you."
Killian stiffly nodded as he took a seat on the chair. Even though he had somewhere he wanted to be very much, he owed Seth too much. If not for this man, he would have lost his life countless times. Those life-saving graces were enough for him to listen to what Seth had to say to him.
"I want you to go and take a look at the Silver Dawn Pack." Seth stirred the teaspoon in the cup as he finished mixing the sugar into the murky liquid. Raising his head, he stared at Killian. "I would have offered you a cup too, but I don’t think you would like it." Killian shook his head lightly.
"But why me?" He asked. His brows furrowing in a frown as he stated, "I don’t think that there is any need for that, right? There is Dominic for that. He is a member of the inner circle. I am not one of the members of the inner circle." He had strictly stayed away from those elders who were part of the inner circle. Clearly, they knew nothing about fun, and ording to Elder Norman—he was too big a manwhore that he didn’t deserve the honour of being part of the inner circle.
He was a jerk like that, but hey, that was what he liked about him.
Seth raised his head just enough to stare at him. "You could join the inner circle anytime if you want. I have lost count of how many times I asked you to join the inner circle and you have refused me again and again."
"Nonsense," Killian waved his hand. Annoyed at even the notion of joining the inner circle. "I don’t have the slightest bit of desire to join the inner circle. I still haven’t forgotten how one of the elders tried to start a revolution against the humans just because he got locked out of his phone."
"That was a one-time thing."
"A revolution against the humans for something so stupid should be a one-time thing!"
Seth sighed. Pressing his hand on his forehead. "Anyway, I want you to go and take a look at the Silver Dawn pack. I believe something weird is going on in there," he pulled out a report which he had received from his shadow enforcers and ced it in front of Killian. "I believe that L went there before she died. The traces do lead there; Remy can say whatever he wants to, but either he had no idea what his mate was up to or he was aware of it and is now leading the council by the nose."
Killian caught the detailed information on the papers, and his brows jumped high enough to almost escape his forehead. Almost.
He pursed his lips and stated, "Dare I ask why you are even keeping track of the council members? Afraid of getting assassinated?"
"You know that the current situation is not good." Seth tapped his fingers on the table. "You have heard all about the disappearances of the shifters, and with the site that you cracked, I am afraid that it won’t be wrong to say that the witches are on the rise again. Aeback I was not looking forward to," he mused with a crooked smile.
"Not like anyone believes it." Killian squared his shoulders as he crossed his arms in front of him and leaned back. "They believe that I am causing trouble. I heard them whisper after the meeting."
Seth smiled. A hint of amusement in his eyes as he stated, "You know that they are afraid, scared that they would be thrown into another moment of rapid chaos. Thest war nearly wiped us all out. The only good thing is that the lycans were there to take down the witches. But with your blood—"
"Muddled through with the interjections of humans and other species," Killian finished for him. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "We cannot be med for that—it kept getting harder to maintain the pure lineage of the lycans, especially with our depleting numbers."
"Indeed," Seth agreed. "Anyway, what I wanted to say—the site that you had cracked could be traced back to the Silver Dawn pack."
Killian snapped his head. "What?"
"Indeed. It was quite a surprise for me too." Seth nced at the report in front of them. "However, the traces are all there, and unless this is another dud, then we can at least get a breakthrough in this situation of the Great or the Holy one the witches call her."
"I have something to do—"
"Killian," Seth turned to look at him. His gaze was unusually stern as he said to him, "I understand that you have priorities different from those you had in the past. But you also need to understand one thing: the elders already have you as their enemy. At least cracking a case as serious as this one would silence them for a few days. Do it for your pack, Killian. Or else you will find yourself as the target of the gunfire again, and that will cause much bigger trouble for your pack. Head over to the Silver Dawn pack and see what is going on in there."
