Lisa shifted in the passenger seat. She looked at Killian with that ufortable look she always carried when she was speaking to him. "We have arrived at the venue, Alpha Sokolov."

His beast’s ears ttened as he started sniffing and looking around the venue where these two had brought them. iThis is getting suspicious. /iThere was this quiet weight to his words, den with worry and suspicions that were now running so high that Killian could feel suspicion coiling around his heart. iI cannot smell anything weird, but I don’t like being here either. It’s like something I want to revoke whatever is going on here. Like an invisible evil spirit lingering around the dark corners. /i

His beast rose closer to his surface, and Killian had to recall Inez’s scent to calm him down. His beast wanted blood — wanted to hunt down every single person in this pack and bring his mate back to his side. Since Seth told him that the key to finding Inez was in this pack, his beast only wanted one thing: the blood of these people. But rushing in without a n would only put his as well as the lives of his enforcers in danger. Killian, too, wanted to do it the old way, but he couldn’t because there were lives at stake here.

They needed to find out what the hell was wrong with this pack first. Then only...

Finn opened the door at the back of the car, creating a diversion that Lisa seemed to adore. She cast a thankful look at his beta while Drakon turned and cleared his throat. "Shall we alpha Sokolov?"

iCalm yourself down; we don’t want to make a mess before we can even find where Ienz is, /iKillian told his beast, deciding to shelve the annihtion of this pack until he got what he wanted.

His beast hissed within him, clearly upset with the suggestion. He lowered his head, but not out of submission; instead, it was clear annoyance. His beast didn’t want to look at him; thus, he lowered his head. He defiantly muttered inside of him, i’We could have just skinned these people alive and be done with it. But since you want to do it theplicated way, then be my guest.’ /i

The air around the venue smelled rather strange; it almost made the back of his neck feel itchy, but Killian couldn’t exactly find out the reason. He looked around the surrounding area, only to find itpletely normal or as normal as a deserted territory could feel.

Killian tugged on his tie. Ajax had brought him his shoes and suit, saying that since they were here to attend the banquet, they might as well do it in fashion. That man even got him and Finn glistening and polished shoes; who knows when he got the time to polish these shoes?

"This is stupid," Killian muttered as he pulled on his tie, loosening it.

"Don’t you like the suit, alpha?" Ajax asked, and in response, Killian only shot him a look, which made the man shut up.

The suit that he was wearing was something that Killian would rather never wear. Fortunately, Ajax was smart enough to bring him pants that would allow him to move without feeling restrained. But he truly could not understand the reason for trying to impress a small pack like Silver Dawn; why should he be wearing a suit for their damned banquet? They should be d that he was even attending this party.

iThis is a tactical retreat. /iAjax’s voice echoed in his head. iMake them think that we have no idea what is going on. Isn’t that a pretty clean way to deal with these people? /i

Staring at Lisa and Drakon, who were walking in front of him, Killian narrowed his eyes. They had been obeying everymand given to them, but he could smell the defiance and resistance beneath their surface. This was why he couldn’t trust them.

Once they were inside the venue, Killian looked up and noticed nothing but marble and ss. It looked normal, like any other ballroom in a seven-star hotel. No traps.

Alpha Dawson strutted towards them, his lips curved up in a smile. He opened his arms wide in wee.

"Alpha Sokolov!" His voice boomed across the entire space. "What an honour for you to join our banquet. We never thought that someone from the council would ever visit our territory." This exined why they were never prepared for anyone’s visit and had to rush things. They must have believed that the chances of Sething to their territory were close to null.

The man extended his hand for Killian to shake, and he took it. Feeling the grip tighten around his hand, Killian arched a brow. He squeezed hard enough to make the man almost buckle and grinned when Edward’s eyes widened and his face turned pale.

"Alpha Dawson", I acknowledged the man. "I have to say that you have left no stone unturned to show your hospitality."

His beast rose to his surface. His chest rumbled with a growl as he started to ooze alpha vibes; unlike Killian, his beast didn’t like the idea of another alpha showing off in front of him.

"This is what I must do," said the man. While rubbing his palm that Killian had squeezed. Stroking the skin that had turned red, he said, "I have heard a lot about the feats and legendary tales of your battles and glory. How can I not be careful?"

Killian simply hummed as his gaze swept across the entire ballroom. In the middle sat a statue. Hooded and ancient. With her hands stretched out in front as if she were begging. There were countless things scattered underneath the statue, including many daggers that were zed with blood. Fresh Blood. The entire thing resembled a ceremonial tform.

iThat blood is not even an hour old... they killed something ... or maybe someone. /i

Killian clenched his fist upon hearing those words; he red his nostrils, but unfortunately, he couldn’t pick up any scent of fear or pain. There was nothing.
