Retired for A Hundred Years: Re-Employment for the Apocalypse Bigshot!
Chapter 56: Have You Ever Been Sold?
CHAPTER 56: CHAPTER 56: HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SOLD?
Ji Ning stepped on the brake and stopped the SUV behind the luxury car.
Ye Tong immediately opened the car door and ran over, finding cracks on the window as expected.
Then opened the car door, discovering a mess inside, as if it had just been robbed.
Ye Tong straightened up and shouted back to Ji Ning, "Sister Ning, someone has been robbed."
Ye Tong got back into the car, anxiously saying to Ji Ning, "Sister Ning, I’ve seen that car before. The owner is a particularly beautiful woman. They definitely took her away, we have to rescue her..."
"Why."
Ye Tong didn’t expect Ji Ning to respond this way, and was momentarily stunned, incredulously asking, "Do you need a reason to save someone?"
Ji Ning looked into her eyes, remained silent but with a very indifferent expression, which felt very unfamiliar to Ye Tong.
Ye Tong bit her lip, as if thinking of something bad, choking up and saying, "Sister Ning, do you know what it means if a beautiful woman is taken away? They might be sold, sold to a place like Nanling to be a bride..."
"Have you been sold?"
The car fell into silence instantly. Ye Tong bit her lip hard, her fingers gripping the fabric on her leg tightly, her face pale as paper, her gaze fierce.
Suddenly, the SUV moved.
With the sound of the engine roaring, the car quickly started, followed by a 180-degree sharp turn, the front speeding backward.
Ye Tong looked up ahead, the car was actually going against traffic, heading back to the ramp they had just passed.
"Sister Ning..." Ye Tong’s heart was ablaze, looking at Ji Ning beside her, touched.
"Just this once!"
Ji Ning remained expressionless throughout, the coldness in her eyes terrifying, but Ye Tong found her incredibly cool at that moment, the kind of cool that deserved an extra drumstick at the next meal.
When the car arrived at the ramp, there were no cars in sight anymore.
"Sister Ning, what do we do, they ran? Should we call the police?" Ye Tong just took out her phone, only to find Ji Ning had already driven toward the ramp.
Driving against traffic was enough to make one’s heart race, even without any cars around.
Where there’s a ramp, there would be surveillance; they could be stopped anytime.
After driving against traffic for a while, they finally reached a two-way lane, and Ye Tong quickly suggested Ji Ning switch lanes, but Ji Ning continued driving against traffic before turning onto a very narrow path.
This path seemed under construction, with many dug-up holes, the ground being a dirt road, clearly showing motorbike tire marks.
"Turns out they went this way." Ye Tong’s eyes brightened a bit, looking at Ji Ning with admiration, "Sister Ning, how did you know they came here?"
Ji Ning didn’t answer, focused on driving straight ahead.
About ten minutes later, the road ahead became a bit smoother.
This road was just a single path, no intersections, making it relatively straightforward to find someone.
The road became increasingly remote, the woods on both sides growing denser, and Ye Tong felt a bit uneasy inside.
Only when they passed a stone bridge did Ji Ning stop the car.
"Grab the weapon and get out."
Ye Tong foolishly put the weapon in her pocket, got out of the car, and followed behind Ji Ning.
The path ahead remained deserted, but the SUV couldn’t pass any longer, so the two had to walk on their own.
After walking for about twenty minutes, they finally saw several rows of self-built houses.
In front of the house gates were randomly parked motorbikes and a small truck.
Beside the vehicles, a few young children were playing.
Ye Tong’s heart gradually sank.
Why are there kids?
"You wait here. I’ll go take a look," Ji Ning suddenly said.
Ye Tong didn’t insist and obediently stood in place.
The environment here was desolate, surrounded by tall and dense trees, their trunks towering and leaves lush.
The wild grass under the trees was tall and long, Ye Tong could drown herself by crouching.
What kind of grass is this?
Why doesn’t it wither?
Ye Tong hid by the grass, quietly observing ahead.
Ji Ning didn’t hide her presence, walked with hands in pockets to the children, lowered her head and said something unknown.
The children pointed towards the house behind them.
Ji Ning glanced up and walked towards the house they pointed at.
Her figure vanished swiftly.
Ye Tong felt worried, advancing a bit by the grass.
The children at the village entrance were gone now, perhaps they went home to report.
The surroundings were eerily silent, not even the sound of birds or insects.
A vague unease rose within Ye Tong.
Those kidnappers were numerous and strong; how could she recklessly come to rescue someone on a whim?
No matter how strong Sister Ning was, she couldn’t take on so many people, right?
They should have called the police first and let them handle this.
Is Sister Ning already captured by them by now?
The more Ye Tong thought, the more scared she became, taking out her phone to call the police, only to find there was no signal here at all.
Panic rose within her heart, she clutched her weapon tight, stepping out of the grass, cautiously approaching those rows of houses.
Suddenly, a few rogue voices came from behind.
"Yo... Brothers, what’s this? Just let a sheep go, and another presents itself."
"Heh heh heh, the boss is going to make a fortune this time."
Ye Tong’s face changed drastically, quickly turning around, pulling out the weapon from her pocket, pretending to be calm and threatening, "Don’t move, or my bullets won’t have eyes."
The three men behind her instantly changed their expressions, their eyes filled with fear, instinctively stepping back.
Ye Tong didn’t dare let her guard down, keeping her face stern, "Release the woman you’ve captured."
The three men exchanged glances among each other, seemingly communicating silently, one of them spoke soothingly, "Alright, missy, can you just move that thing away? We’ll release her immediately."
The three had fearful looks, intentionally bypassing Ye Tong, walking toward the rear house, obediently preparing to release someone, and Ye Tong felt a bit relieved.
Ye Tong followed behind the three, watching them enter the house door, she didn’t follow inside, staying alert at the door.
Suddenly, a window next to her was forcefully opened, a figure leaping out fast towards Ye Tong, aiming directly at the weapon in her hands.
Ye Tong was quick to react, leaning her body back to dodge his hand.
The man, seeing his first attempt fail, swiftly moved to attack again, and by then Ye Tong was flustered, hurriedly backing away to dodge, and this move revealed to the man she wasn’t trained.
His attack sped up, and with a quick step, he kicked Ye Tong in the abdomen, knocking her to the ground, the weapon falling nearby.
The man glanced at the weapon beside him, slowly squatting down, reaching out to grab Ye Tong by the hair, showing a perverted smile of relishing his prey struggling, the yellow teeth in his mouth giving a headache.
"Girl, where did you buy this weapon? A store, wasn’t it?"
Ye Tong’s pupils slightly shrank, refusing to acknowledge.
The man chuckled softly, continuing, "I let you off before, why come back looking for death? Look at this little face, as tender as water. Just right for me to taste."
"Don’t touch me! Ptoo—" Ye Tong strained to lean back, not wanting the man to touch her face.
The man exiting from the house saw this, kicked Ye Tong’s leg, "Stupid girl, our second boss fancies you, that’s your blessing, don’t be so ungrateful."
Saying this, he bent down to pick up the weapon Ye Tong dropped, but unexpectedly Ye Tong suddenly sprung up from the ground, landing a blow aimed at the second boss’s eyes, then rolled to the side, snatching back the dropped weapon.
"Don’t move! If you move, I will shoot!" Ye Tong covered her abdomen with one hand, enduring the pain as she backed away.
The men around her immediately dared not step forward, their eyes guarded, looking at Ye Tong’s weapon.
At this moment, the second boss, who had been poked in the eye, was furious, viciously saying, "The weapon’s fake, catch her!"
Ye Tong’s face turned pale, shouting, "Mine’s real! If you come closer, I’ll shoot!"
But the man saw through her bluff, stepping forward while laughing, "Stupid girl, I’m walking forward, shoot me if you dare... hahaha..."
Seeing him approach closer, Ye Tong was so panicked her voice distorted, "Don’t come any closer!"
"Hahaha... go on, shoot."
"Bang—"
