Revenge Wears Red Lipstick
Chapter 102: A Promise
CHAPTER 102: A PROMISE
After everything, was she just going to let Katherine win? Just like that?
Just when the dagger was about to stab Alisha in the face, she felt her body being moved quickly out of the way. She waited for the pain, but it never came.
However, that didn’t mean no one got hurt.
Dante had been the one to move her out of the way, but he’d suffered from an injury when the dagger stabbed his back.
Maxine gasped when she saw blood dripping through his suit.
Then she glared at Katherine whose jaw had dropped.
Dante was here. He was right here with Alisha. She should have known that Alisha was never going to come alone and out of everyone, she came with Dante.
Everything was ruined. Dante had just witnessed her about to kill his wife. He might have let her off the hook once, but now, she doubts that would be the case.
"You mad woman!!" Maxine raged.
Only the knife in Katherine’s hands was stopping her from marching towards her and landing a heavy slap on her face.
Realizing what she’d just done and that she was outnumbered, Katherine turned on her heels and ran away.
Maxine hissed under her breath, about to chase her but Alisha stopped her.
"Don’t bother. Besides, there’s nowhere she can run to. You have the video right?" She asked and Maxine nodded. "Good. Help me get Dante into the car." She whispered to Dante. "Are you okay?"
He gave a stiff nod.
He would rather bleed than watch Katherine about to take Alisha’s life in his presence.
Carefully, they took Dante home because he refused to go to the hospital. While Alisha was attending to his injury, she quickly instructed Maxine to release the video, but cut off the part where she’d beaten Katherine up.
Maxine left with a confirmation to get things done immediately.
"You don’t have to worry about me. This is not the first time I’m getting stabbed with a knife," he said, pulling Alisha close enough that she was left with no other choice but to sit on his lap.
"I can’t see anything from this angle," she insisted, trying to get off but Dante’s strong arms wrapped around her firmly yet gently.
He could sense rage bubbling from her.
He overheard everything. She’s had several miscarriages. He never knew about that because she never told him.
But was it selfish that he was glad Alisha never gave birth to Nathan’s child?
"Eva..." He called her softly. Her expression was blank, as if she didn’t want him to see her break.
"It’s alright. I’m fine. I’ve already taken out my anger on Katherine," she said, avoiding eye contact with him as much as possible while she reached behind him to add an extra bandage.
He watched her without saying another word, letting silence swallow them. However, the silence was too loud, too suffocating.
"Eva..." He called once again, but she didn’t look at him. It was like she didn’t want him to see her being weak, even for once.
"I’m fine," she said stiffly. Then she patted him on the shoulder with a stiff smile. "I’m all done. Next time, don’t go jumping into daggers. I can handle myself."
She tried to pull away from him but he didn’t let her go.
"You don’t always have to act tough in front of me," he said but she didn’t budge.
She took a deep breath. "Dante...I’m really fine. She’s tried to kill me several times but I always survived. This revelation won’t kill me." Her throat was tight now, and she felt like she couldn’t breathe. Tears threatened to well in her eyes, but she didn’t want that to happen.
She didn’t want to cry in front of Dante. She just wanted to leave and go to the balcony or anywhere but he wouldn’t let her go.
"Please," she pleaded, her eyes red with tears now while she continued to avoid eye contact.
Dante placed his hand on her chin, raising it so he could look into her eyes.
That was more than enough. Just an eye contact and Alisha broke into his arms. She shattered completely, but he made sure to pick every piece and glue them together.
He held her protectively while she sobbed. Her tears stabbed his heart, and it only left him with the urge to catch Katherine and slit her throat and feed her body to the sharks.
"I trusted her like a sister. I loved her yet she had the mind to do all of this to me. I loved both of them. I treated them with so much love but they still hurt me. They find so much joy in hurting me," she sobbed while clenching her chest hard as if she was in pain.
Katherine being behind her miscarriages had only been a suspicion after seeing the drugs in her bag but now, she didn’t know what to do.
She had even prayed that Katherine wasn’t behind everything. But she’d been stupid once again.
She still believed that Katherine had a good heart in her, something to give her a reason not to take her life but now, things have changed.
Both Katherine and Nathan were going to pay.
"It wasn’t your fault that you had so much love to give. Your only fault was loving the wrong people and it’s also their fault for taking advantage of your love," said Dante as he held her dearly. "You trusted them but they played with your trust. Their characters were already despicable, so you shouldn’t blame yourself."
It wasn’t easy but after a while, Alisha finally calmed down, her chest heaving up and down.
She was still hurt but there was nothing she could do anymore.
The betrayal was done, and her revenge was only starting.
"Dante, can you promise me one thing?" She requested, as his fingers wiped her tears.
"Anything my love."
"Promise me you’ll never betray me," she said. "No matter what. Promise that you’ll always love me no matter what and promise that you’ll always find me."
Alisha didn’t know why she was saying this, but Dante was the only one she hoped didn’t betray her. Nathan’s and Katherine’s betrayal already broke her. Dante’s betrayal would shatter her and she doubts she would be able to pick up the pieces and stand on her feet again.
"I promise, my love," he replied. "I would rather die than hurt you." He cupped Alisha’s face and kissed her deeply afterwards.
