Revenge Wears Red Lipstick
Chapter 108: Little Wife
CHAPTER 108: LITTLE WIFE
’Are Eva and Peter Gonzales related? Is she his daughter?’ He wondered.
The chances of that being the truth were not slim.
Mr. De Rossi decided to push the thoughts behind his head. Very soon, his office would be changing, and he would have more power.
"I’m just glad I killed him before he could do anything stupid like reveal my plans to everyone," he said.
Lucas has a grin on his face.
"He was being too loyal to Greg, thinking he would get some support from that man." Then he laughed at how ridiculous Peter had been when he was still alive.
Then the door suddenly opened with Dante standing there, a grim expression on his face.
Mr. De Rossi’s blood turned cold, his body turning rigid for a second before it went back to normal.
"What are you doing here?" He asked his son.
"I came to tell you something." Dante glanced at Lucas Tedoro. He didn’t need to say a word to the old man for him to know it was time for him to leave.
Hitting his walking stick hard on the ground, he helped himself up.
"I guess I’ll see you some other time, Marcus," he said. He glanced back at Dante before he went for the door.
Mr. De Rossi watched his friend leave before his gaze went back to Dante.
"What are you doing here?" He questioned.
"Did I hear you right?" He questioned back. "You were the one who killed Peter Gonzales?"
The older man rolled his eyes back, treating the conversation without any form of seriousness.
"What’s with you and Peter Gonzales all the time? Who’s he to you? Or rather, who’s he to Eva? Is he related to Eva in some kind of way or are you just here to frustrate me?"
Dante couldn’t believe his ears.
Their warehouse where they’d set up a trap for the gang that always stole their shipment managed to get away again. He’d come here to inform his father about it, only for him to overhear his conversation through the door.
Apparently, such a thick door couldn’t hold off the joy in their voices at all.
"Peter Gonzales is Eva’s biological father," he revealed.
However, his father didn’t show a look of shock on his face at all. If anything, he looked unconcerned.
Dante had the hint that his father would have a hand in what happened to Eva’s biological father, but he didn’t think his own father would be completely involved in it.
"Why did you do it?" He asked.
His heart was racing, several thoughts clouding his mind about how heartless his father could be.
"What can I say? Sometimes when you need to get rid of a pest, you just have to get rid of that pest. Peter knew too much. Keeping him alive would risk my position here," he said, barely giving a proper explanation which only had Dante confused.
But whatever his reason was, it wasn’t big enough to excuse his behavior.
Dante was quiet for a second too long, and his father noticed it.
He closed the file in his hand and looked up at him, his eyes narrowing.
"Don’t tell me you’re going to tell your wife I was the one who killed her father," he said. "Can you even do that, Dante? Are you going to betray me for some nobody?"
"Eva is my wife," he reminded.
Mr. De Rossi laughed like he’d just cracked a joke.
"You keep changing every single day I see you. You’re so trapped in that woman’s spell that you can’t even think logically anymore. But let me not waste your time. Go ahead and tell Eva the truth. The door is right there. But let me remind you that you might never see Rhea again," he threatened.
This was the only thing his father had against him, the only way he could control him and it always worked.
"I’m sure you wouldn’t want that to happen now would you, Dante?" He asked, knowing fully well that Dante was trapped.
Dante didn’t say anything, instead, he started thinking of how he was going to manage the situation.
He couldn’t tell Eva the truth yet, and as it would seem like betraying her, he had no choice but to keep the truth from her.
But he planned to tell her later, once the election was over and he had Rhea free from his father’s grasp.
The longer the days went, the more he felt suffocated with the disturbing truths about his father, the more revolting he felt.
Just a little bit longer, and he would tell her the truth.
"So, tell me why you came here," his father said, pulling him out of his thoughts.
Dante didn’t bother taking a seat since he wasn’t going to spend too much time in the office.
"Our warehouse was attacked again by the gang."
"Despite the trap you set!!" Mr. De Rossi questioned instantly, rising to his feet with a face contorted with rage.
Dante simply gave a curt nod.
At this point, he wasn’t even disappointed that they were robbed again.
Mr. De Rossi’s fists were clenched tightly, his teeth gnashing.
Unlike Dante, this was terrible news for him. His clients had already asked for their orders and those guns were purchased with a huge amount of money.
If things continued to stay like this, he was going to go bankrupt even before he could run for president in the next four years.
He had several enemies who could have a hand in this, but out of all of them, there was only one person he could think of, and that was none other than Eva.
He looked up at Dante who gave a blank look.
"And where was Eva when this happened?"
Dante’s eyes immediately turned cold.
"What do you mean?" He questioned.
The father and son glared at each other for the longest time possible, before Mr. De Rossi parted his lips to speak.
"What if that little wife of yours is behind all of these?"
