CHAPTER 41: AFFAIR REACTION

She looked around the room. Guests stared at their phones, then lifted their eyes toward her, their expressions shifting from admiration to disgust.

On her screen was a single headline from an anonymous post;

Katherine Cross Cheating On Nathan Cross.

Katherine felt like her life had shattered especially with the stares she was getting from people.

"Is she cheating on her husband? I never thought she would be capable of doing such a thing. What a shameless woman."

"Truly shameless. How could she do such a thing? She was kissing that unknown man with a scarf on her face. Does she think no one would be able to find out it was her?"

"She’s so shameless. She’s married to the wealthiest man and is cheating on him with someone who probably can’t even afford a ticket to come to this fashion show."

"She accused Evangeline Montclair of being a slut. Now, look at her. I feel like clawing her face right now."

The insults kept coming, and Katherine’s hands clenched on her phone as she tried to control her anger.

The people didn’t even bother to muffle their voices. They were intent on making her hear whatever they had to say about her.

But that was the least of Katherine’s concerns at the moment.

Who could have been the person who uploaded the pictures?

She’d already make sure she was careful whenever she met with her lover. She’d been doing so for years but never got caught, not until...

She glared at Alisha’s back who was still taking pictures with fans. As if feeling her gaze, Alisha turned to look at her and gave her a smile—more like a smile of mockery.

Before she’d left her hotel room, she’d contacted Maxine to upload the picture so Katherine would get a taste of her own medicine.

Everyone watched as Katherine walked towards Alisha and requested that they talk in private.

"Why would you upload this?!" She questioned, an agitated look on her face as soon as they reached a quiet corner where no one would see them.

"Upload what?" Alisha asked, feigning ignorance.

Katherine’s teeth gnashed as she opened her phone and shoved her phone right into Alisha’s face.

"Delete it right now." The calm and gentle Katherine was thrown out through the window and the only person standing in front of Alisha seemed like she would kill her if she didn’t do as she was told to.

Alisha stared at the pictures. "Don’t tell me it’s true," she asked, staring at the picture, unable to stop herself when admiring Maxine’s capturing skills.

Katherine’s fists were clenched now, her patience running thin as she glared at Alisha.

"But why do you think I would upload this? You didn’t offend me in any way, Katherine," Alisha said, about to leave but Katherine pulled her back, her grip tight on Alisha’s wrist with her nails intentionally digging in, aiming to draw blood. But instead of acting hurt, Alisha had a calm expression on her face.

"I know that you’re the one behind this and I want you to delete it right now. I’ve tried to get rid of you several times but you’re impossible to get rid of. And now, you want to ruin my career?" She demanded, her eyes bloody red and shot.

Alisha sighed as she lazily yanked Katherine’s hands away.

"What did you do to those hoodlums I sent to you? What did you do to them?!" She yelled, her frustration evident now.

She’d never planned to come out in the open and make Alisha know she’d been trying to get her killed for the longest time, but after releasing her affair on the internet, she’d lost control over her tongue.

Alisha only smiled at Katherine, slightly feeling pity for she didn’t know whom she was dealing with yet.

"I killed them," Alisha responded without stuttering. "You know, if you want to send someone on a job, at least take the effort to find someone capable enough so you can get something to laugh about at least."

Katherine paled. "Y-you..."

"Yes, I killed the ones you sent at the Met Gala and the ones you sent an hour ago. Now, their bodies are right where you’d never find them," then Alisha paused as she shook her head in regret. "Shoot! I should have sent them right to your doorstep. But it’s alright, I’m sure you have more people coming my way, right?" Then she chuckled like a maniac and instantly, goosebumps rose on Katherine’s skin.

She’d underestimated Alisha, that was for sure.

"As for this post you’re complaining about, there’s more where that came from, and for every inconvenience you cause me, I’ll make sure the internet knows how rotten the insides of you are." Then she leaned in towards Katherine’s ears as if she was going to give her a peck. "I’ll also have the internet find out what you did to Evangeline Montclair."

She felt Katherine stiffen and when she saw her expression, Alisha wished she had her phone with her, but it was with Maxine.

Then she patted Katherine on the shoulders and left.

Katherine released the breath she didn’t know she’d been holding the entire time since Alisha started talking.

She’d underestimated the woman too much and now, she might lose everything she’d fought hard for.

What she feared for was going to come to pass now. And worst, Alisha knew about what she’d done to Eva. This made her question who Alisha was. Was she Eva’s cousin, sister, or a friend who’d come to avenge her death?

Katherine held her chest as her heart drummed hard against it, trying to take a deep breath to calm it. But that effort was thrown out of the window once again when she saw someone familiar walking towards her with a grumpy expression but one could easily see how irritated they were.

"What’s this image that has been circulating all over the internet, Katherine?" Nathan questioned. "Have you been cheating on me this entire time?!" He yelled a little louder, making her flinch in fear.
