CHAPTER 55: SAVED ONCE AGAIN

Mason landed a punch on Alisha’s face, knocking her a few feet backwards as she winced in pain.

He was fast, too fast she was unable to miss it.

She spat the blood on the floor, cleaning her lips with the back of her hands. Her head was starting to spin with just one punch to the face.

"You should have just ran instead of standing there, acting as if you could beat me up," Mason said, a satisfied grin on his lips when he saw that Alisha was having a hard time composing herself.

Alisha didn’t bother responding to his remark. She charged forward, aiming to kick him in the groin but Mason blocked it by grabbing her legs. Alisha twirled her body in an odd angle, kicking him on the head with the other leg.

He stumbled back a bit, and Alisha took the opportunity to grab the bat. Before she could hit him with it, he knocked it right out of her hands, sending it flying somewhere she couldn’t see.

"I never thought you knew how to fight. But you’ll have to try harder than that sweetie," he grinned, licking the blood on his lips.

Both of them engaged in a fierce brawl, with Alisha hitting him everywhere she could but since he was stronger, he easily tackled her down, her spine hitting the dry ground as a painful yelp escaped her lips.

His hands wrapped around her neck, intending to strangle.

"I wish this had lasted. It should have lasted, but you’re some crazy bitch who just refuses to die!!" He yelled, bloody saliva flying everywhere. His head was bleeding and his body was aching badly.

Alisha struggled to get free from his grasp but his grip only tightened on her neck, choking her of the little air she had left. Her face turned red, trying to breathe while her vision blurred.

If she wasn’t able to get away from him, she was going to die there. Knowing Katherine, she might throw her in the river again or have her body burned to ashes.

She didn’t want to die. Mason’s face was contorted with rage, with the intent to kill her.

She didn’t survive just to die again when she hasn’t made the people who hurt her pay.

Her hands reached out, searching for something, anything at all that she could hit Mason on the head with. Then she felt something. Something made out of wood.

It was the bat.

"Just die!!" Mason yelled.

She gripped the bat with all the strength she had left and swung it across his head. The sound it released was satisfying.

His grip released, and she pushed him off of her, holding her neck as she coughed and breathed in air after being starved of it.

Mason was lying on the ground, half alive and half dead.

She dropped the bat, the sound echoing in the huge warehouse.

She could just kill him, have his body thrown into the river but he could be useful to her later.

Alisha reached for the door and left, stumbling now and then, trying to get her bearings.

Her body was aching badly. Her clothes were stained not only with her blood but also with Mason’s blood.

She looked like a walking zombie searching for a meal.

Her stomach rumbled, reminding her she still hadn’t eaten dinner yet.

She reached outside but there was no vehicle she could use to get back. She didn’t even bother searching for her phone because they might have already destroyed it.

"Fuck me," she mumbled under her breath as she dragged her feet towards the empty road, having the moon as her only source of light.

She needed to get as far away as possible before Mason woke up because if he caught her, she doubted she would be able to knock him out cold again.

However, Alisha was already starting to get tired. Every step she took felt like she was forcing her body beyond its limits.

She stumbled on her legs and her face kissed the ground.

"Fuck!!" She cursed.

If she doesn’t manage to find help, she might have to sleep in one of the trees tonight like an animal.

’Dante, where are you?’ She thought. He was the first person who came to her mind in a moment like this.

At the Met Gala, he’d unintentionally saved her life, a year ago, he did the same thing. At Sirena Couture, he killed three men in her presence just to save her.

She hated to admit that he always had good timing of when to jump in, but why wasn’t he here yet?

Alisha’s lashes were starting to become heavy as she tried to stay awake.

Light suddenly spilled in from the streets with the sound of a vehicle approaching.

Alisha moved to the front of the road, hoping the person would step out and help her.

The car stopped, and the door opened with a figure rushing out but because of the blinding lights, she couldn’t make out the face.

"Eva," she heard that voice. It was Dante.

Her shoulder dropped in relief as tears welled in her eyes.

"Dante..." She called, her voice barely audible. "Dante..."

The next thing, her body slumped into his arms.

Alisha woke up to a familiar ceiling. She remembered this place, it was her room in the villa.

"Thank goodness that you’re awake," said Maxine as she rushed to Alisha’s side. "I was so scared. Thank God Dante found you and brought you back."

Dante.

He saved her once again. She scanned the room and he wasn’t there.

Maxine seemed to have noticed her confusion.

"He went out to get you food. He should be back in a bit," she explained.

Somehow, that made her heart warm.

Alisha tried to sit up but her body won’t let her. She noticed she was wearing a different set of clothes, her injuries bandaged with a bigger one on her face.

"Let me help you." Maxine helped Alisha rest on the headboard. "What happened?"

Alisha’s eyes darkened when she recalled what happened a few hours ago. If Katherine saw Dante bringing her in, she was probably crashing out, and if she didn’t, she should be in her room celebrating.

"I want you to release that obscene video of Katherine and Mason," Alisha said.
