Revenge Wears Red Lipstick
Chapter 56: She’s Alive
CHAPTER 56: SHE’S ALIVE
Dante stepped into the room with a tray of food, and when he saw that Alisha had already woken up, he almost spilled everything.
Maxine quickly took the tray away from him as he rushed towards her, palming her hands and kissing them.
"You’re awake," he said, a look of relief on his face.
She scoffed. "You sound like I was going to die or something."
That was meant to be a joke but Dante didn’t find it funny. An awkward silence reigned.
Maxine gave Alisha a curt nod. "I’ll get to it immediately," she said before leaving the room.
Confusion clouded Dante’s face. "Get to what?"
"I’ve asked her to release Katherine’s videos. That bitch is going to get what she deserves. She and that lover of hers Mason." Alisha responded through gritted teeth.
After everything Katherine had made her go through that night, she would ensure the latter didn’t live with peace of mind, no matter what.
Dante was furious about the whole situation himself. After finding Alisha in the middle of the road with her entire body looking very tattered, he didn’t know what to do.
The fear of losing her gnawed at him. Something he didn’t want to feel again as it made him very scared which he shouldn’t be.
"I’ll find Mason and make him pay," he said, gently caressing Alisha’s palm. "If you want, I can get rid of him for you."
Dante had already killed three men in her presence before and it was a conversation they’d never had. She didn’t think they needed to have any conversation about it but also, she didn’t need him killing everyone in sight just because they hurt her.
She shook her head. "I’ll need him later. I need him to be alive, Dante," she said, her voice firm as she looked in his dark eyes. Something told her he would go behind her back and do something to Mason.
He only gave a curt nod as he kissed the back of her hand, his lips lingering for two seconds longer, making her heart skip a beat.
The tender touch was warm, a gesture that made her feel safe, safe in his presence.
Her lips thinned as she redrew her hands back.
"Stop being all touchy. There’s no one to fool here," she said while Dante cocked an eyebrow at her.
"I’m not doing this because I want to fool anyone, Eva," he said, his voice suddenly husky. "You don’t know how scared I was when I couldn’t find you. How terrified I became when you collapsed in my arms a few hours ago."
Alisha couldn’t tell, but he looked like he was going to cry any time soon.
Her lips thinned once again, not sure of how to respond to his words. He sounded so genuine it almost felt like a love confession, but she didn’t want to believe Dante was in love with her. It was impossible.
Hesitatingly, she cupped his face with a small smile on her face.
"You seem to be forgetting that you’re always saving me when I’m in trouble. I am certain that you’ll always find me, no matter where I am."
Dante leaned into her touch, making her heart sink to her feet. "I’ll always find you Eva, I promise."
The way he looked at her caused her to gulp down her saliva forcefully.
Dante went for the food tray and spoon-fed Alisha even when she wanted to do it herself.
**
The next morning was a beautiful day for Katherine. The first thing she did when she returned to the villa after leaving the warehouse was to celebrate with Bethany in her room with alcohol without a care in the world about the hangover they would get the next morning, especially since they had a perfume commercial to resume from where they left off.
Katherine checked the internet, hoping to find a missing report of Alisha but there was nothing. She scrolled a few times but didn’t find anything.
She simply shrugged. "It should come on today," she said to herself.
She nearly skipped out of her room filled with alcohol bottles in joy as she headed downstairs for breakfast.
After ordering her food, she sat with Bethany.
"Why do you look like you still need more sleep?" Katherine asked as Bethany yawned.
"Because I need it? We fell asleep by 2am and this is 8am. I can barely think straight on 8 hours of sleep, talk more of 6. I’ll probably sleep on set today," Bethany replied, covering her mouth as she yawned again.
Katherine could only laugh.
"So what’s up? You look very happy today," said Bethany.
"Why wouldn’t I be? We were finally able to get rid of that woman. She’s out of our lives forever. Shoot, I didn’t get to text Mason on how he disposed of her body. I’ll do it later when we’re done with the shooting."
Bethany simply nodded. They didn’t think it would be that easy to get rid of Alisha. It almost seemed unbelievable.
Bethany was about to say something when she saw a couple walking into the restaurant. The man was supporting the woman and although some parts of the woman’s face were bandaged up a little bit, she could still be recognized.
All heads turned to look at Alisha with eyes filled with questioning and mouths filled with murmur.
What happened to her?
Katherine noticed where Bethany’s attention was and decided to look and immediately, she choked on her food.
She watched as Dante helped Alisha take a seat as she struggled to walk. She looked quite beaten up but she was alive. She was very much alive.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Alisha seemed to have noticed Katherine’s stare and turned to smile at her.
"That woman..." Katherine said through gritted teeth.
Suddenly, notifications dinged in the cafeteria and everyone brought out their phone to respond.
Katherine did the same, and once her eyes fell on the image on the phone, she felt her stomach churn with the urge to completely throw up.
