Revenge Wears Red Lipstick
Chapter 57: Questioning
CHAPTER 57: QUESTIONING
Katherine did the same, and once her eyes fell on the image on the phone, she felt her stomach churn with the urge to completely throw up.
On her phone was a video that seemed to have been taken in a bathroom due to the steam that blurred the background a little bit.
Katherine’s eyes were closed as she sank into the pleasure the man was giving her from behind.
Her moans filled the restaurant since everyone was watching the same video.
"What nonsense is this? Now my appetite is ruined. What a disgusting woman. Didn’t she deny that she wasn’t cheating on her husband? Now what the hell is this?" She heard someone say.
"My goodness, she’s really so disgusting—getting back shots from a man that isn’t her husband? That’s just beyond nasty."
"Who would have thought that Katherine Cross was this shameless. Look at her, acting shocked as if it wasn’t her in the video."
On the other hand, Katherine was on the verge of throwing up. This wasn’t a picture like the other one Alisha had uploaded which she managed to get out of by denying the accusations.
This was a video and the high resolution made her clearly prominent so that she could easily be recognized.
She noticed the heavy glares she was receiving from everyone, all their heads turned to her.
Even Bethany was staring at Katherine in disbelief.
Katherine faced Alisha who was still looking at her, a look of satisfaction evident on her face. Then she winked at Katherine before returning to her food.
Katherine’s blood was boiling at this point but she couldn’t do anything. Not right now. Not in front of Dante and several other people.
Gulping down her saliva in shame, she stood up and walked out, while the murmur from the people followed right behind her.
Katherine arrived in her suite and made a phone call to Mason. But he wasn’t picking up.
She tried again, and the call finally connected.
"Didn’t I tell you to kill Alisha? Why is she still alive? Because of your incompetence, she uploaded a video of us on the internet and my reputation is on the brink of getting ruined!!" She screamed into her phone, her face red with rage.
Mason’s hand was on his head, his vision slightly blurry as he tried to stand up while holding the phone close to his ear.
"She hit me on the head with a bat," he managed to voice out.
"What?" Katherine gasped.
"I was close to strangling her to death but she hit me on the head with a bat," he repeated. He was just waking up because of the sound of his phone ringing.
Katherine’s heart skipped a beat in fear and rage at how Alisha was able to escape once again.
Katherine was about to say something when the door to her room suddenly banged open and Nathan walked in.
His face didn’t look happy at all. He wasn’t happy.
The video had just been uploaded ten minutes ago, how was he able to get here in such a short amount of time?
"What’s this?!!" Nathan questioned, nearly pushing his phone right into her face as he demanded an answer. "What’s this nonsense, Katherine?! You told me you weren’t cheating on me, only for me to find this video?!"
She flinched. Goosebumps rose on her skin, making her able to move. It was as if her body was stapled to the floor.
Nathan had been on his way to the villa to support his wife from the sidelines. The picture of her kissing a man had caused a rift in their marriage despite the number of times Katherine had denied the claim and insisted it was photoshopped.
He wanted to believe her. He believed her, but something was still amiss.
Yet, he left home just to come show how much he loved her and take the opportunity to steal glances at Alisha and maybe propose his plan to her.
Only for his mother to ring him on the phone while he was still in the car, telling him to check his phone immediately.
Nathan was beyond flabbergasted. He drove beyond the speed limit just to get there and question her.
And now, she was staring at him as if he were speaking in gibberish.
"Katherine!!" He yelled, his tone dark and impatient.
Katherine flinched harder this time as her lips trembled to form a word. Her eyes were moist, about to spill tears and her heart was throbbing with fear.
"It’s not true," she cried. "None of it is true. This was all planned, Nathan. Alisha planned all of this."
Nathan’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He’d expected her to say that. She always denied the claims, always making him seem like a fool when the evidence was right in front of him.
"This is Alisha’s way of getting back at me. I told you right? I told you she doesn’t like me. She’s jealous of me and wants to ruin my career and this is her best way to do it, by making you doubt my loyalty to you and my morality to my fans."
Katherine knew it would take a lot of talking and convincing for Nathan to believe her but she would need to try her best. She couldn’t afford to lose him. Her father may be rich now, but the only reason she was respected in high society was because of his family background.
If he asked for a divorce, she would be completely ruined.
Nathan didn’t say anything as he continued to glare at her, and Katherine thought it was the best time to try to hold him.
She stepped towards him as if she were sneaking into a bank to rob.
"Nathan, I would never cheat on you. I’m sure Alisha and Maxine are behind all of these. They want to ruin my relationship with you because they don’t like me." She pleaded.
"Then can I ask you something?" He asked and she nodded as she sniffled back her tears. "Are you the one behind the state Alisha is in now?"
