Chap 92.5: Interlude
"No, not this one." She mused, looking hard through the glass display. Her eyebrow furrowed out of habit. All of the objects she saw wasn't right. Not a single one is up to her standard.
Standing in this jewelry store for a good while now, Tojiko has yet to find anything that is worth her money.
Catching a quick glimpse of the couple next to her, the man that was buying seemed to have no taste and just took whatever was the most expensive thing they had. That is the scene for almost every other couple in this place, the woman leading their man-pet through here, aiming to impress their mate by flexing their wealth. She couldn't care less about the way the so-called aristocracy behaved. Everything to them was handled with money, luckily money is the one thing she can't run out of. Slapping a few stacks of it on the table was more than enough to sway the judgmental look from the store manager from what looked like she might kick her out to a warm, welcoming smile.
Tojiko can care less for what they buy, or do. 'Tch, yeah right.' She had a second thought of bringing him along but then stopped herself, 'This is supposed to be a surprise.' She wanted it to be special; at least, she hoped so. Eyes scanning with a silent sigh.
"Tiring, am i right ?"
Tojiko unenthusiastically tilted to the voice owner, a woman stood not so far from her. White hair and a wide grin on her face like she is meeting an old friend.
"You are ?"
"Toji-chan, that's cold. You know, it hasn't been that long since the last time we met. It's me, Shuna."
"Oh, it's you." Tojiko let out an audible sigh; she knew this woman. Or more like where she is from.
The Gojo clan. Tojiko has worked for them once or twice by now. The only two things she bothered to keep in mind were the amount of cash they paid and how annoying each one of them was.
Shuna, in particular, more than the rest of those arrogant bastards, obviously not because of her status but her unpleasant attitude.
"I can see you are here to buy a ring. Let me guess, your mate ?"
Toji clenched her jaw a little at the word, 'how dare this bitch.' Trying her best to be calm.
"Yeah, was it that obvious ?"
"Hahah, come on. I meant the only reason you're buying a ring is to please a man or when you're about to have one to please you." She giggled, a hand pointing to the rest of the women in the store.
"I, myself am buy for my next concubine. I mean, they're are quite expendable, but you gotta make them look as good as me, you know." For a second, Tojiko was about to draw her blade right then and there. If this woman was about to make any bad comment about her love, she would die.
"So no other woman can make a mistake and accidentally touch what is mine." She shot a knowing glance in Tojiko's direction. "Judging by your look, I'm guessing you know what I'm talking about."
"Yeah, I guess I do." Her lips curl up just a bit. She was able to find a like-minded individual.
Finding the ring wasn't so hard as Tojiko held the small red box in hand. She thinks it is the ring, perfectly suited for her soon-to-be husband.
"That's a nice one." The white hair woman complimented.
The ring Tojiko picked is an emerald ring, with silver for the base.
"what about you?"
"Oh, i got this one." A blue sapphire ring held in a gold design, "and this one with another several ones as well."
The zennin kept a blank stare, looking through her bags filled with jewelry. "That's a lot of rings for one person."
"Oh, no. I'm not spending for one. It's for all of my mates." Shuna's fingers ran through each of the small boxes. "See, this one is for my latest male."
"And that ?" Toji gestured to one of the boxes that did not have a ring in it but a necklace.
"It's a surprise for one of my kid. Well, more like an anniversary celebration."
"I see."
"Her name is Satori." Her grin grows even wider, "and she is the sorceress that will become the next head of our clan."
"That'so, lots of expectation for one kid."
Coming to the cashier, they paid for their items and confirmed the price with them, “Your total is-”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s fine you can just swipe it,” Tojiko interrupted the man at the desk.
The cashier swiped it and passed the receipt to the two girls. Tojiko leaves right as she gets the receipt.
"Aw, leaving so soon. Not even saying goodbye to your buddy ?"
"I'm not your buddy."
"No problem, do invite me to your wedding!." Turning away Tojiko just walked away, not once did she ever look back.
