CHAPTER 413: CHAPTER 28 ANTI-DEMON MAGNETIC FIELD

Though he held an advantage in both level and strength, the Demigod became increasingly restless.

The young man he was fighting against seemed like a tightly coiled spring, which, every time the Demigod increased his output to try to crush and overpower him, was met with an equally enhanced counterforce.

Even when he used the Initial Rank laws permitted by the current Magic Tide Level, he still couldn’t completely overwhelm his opponent.

Especially that strange swordsmanship, which with a seemingly effortless swing, could sever the connection between his abilities and spirituality, turning his Plague into normal pathogens and his Toxin into mere harmful chemicals, silencing all the laws within them.

Wait, could this guy be a Temple Knight?

It was well-known that the Church Court was always dedicated to researching how to deal with Transcendents, especially the legendary Anti-Demon Magnetic Field, which could degrade and neutralize a Transcendent’s Bloodline Ability, laws, and even their Domain.

If this man was a new model of Temple Knight with a miniaturized Anti-Demon Magnetic Field inside, that would explain the strangeness of his swordsmanship.

The sword swings themselves were just a decoy, designed to cover up the traces of the Anti-Demon Magnetic Field inside him.

Of course, these were just his speculations at the moment, without a shred of evidence to prove it. However, he could not think of anything else in the world that could have a similar effect, other than the Anti-Demon Magnetic Field.

Of course, if this assumption held true, then the very battle that was taking place was quite peculiar.

Why would the Church Court want to help Agrippina? Was the hanging of the Venice Governor done at the behest of the Holy See? Were there other Temple Knights lurking in ambush? And could there already be a large number of anti-infantry sniper rifles, Cannons, and even missiles aimed this way?

With such thoughts, the Demigod dared not continue pondering any further.

Admittedly, after leveling up to Lv.20 and above and becoming a Demigod, a Transcendent could weave their main Law into a Domain to achieve an almost "invincible" effect within a small range.

However, with the Magic Tide Level limit currently only at Lv.15, a Domain could only last a few seconds before depleting its spirituality, leading to inevitable loss of control and fall.

The Demigod obviously wouldn’t bet on whether he could escape the battlefield within the precious few seconds, under the threat of Church weapons... He didn’t even dare to bet on whether there were more Temple Knights nearby and immediately decided to retreat in order to save his life.

Of course, he had to take his brother with him.

Turning into countless bats once again, the Demigod quickly withdrew from Aske’s attack range and rushed toward his brother.

"Go!" he said swiftly.

"Go? Why!" His brother hadn’t fought against Aske and was unaware of the eerie effects of the Star Nine Forms. He was currently dominating Agrippina, beating up the remaining four girls, completely not understanding the need to flee.

But his brother had already transformed into a rat and vanished in the pile of surrounding trash and debris in an instant. He obviously couldn’t linger in the fight either; he feinted a move against Agrippina and then also turned into a swarm of rats, disappearing in a flash.

Aske sheathed his Longsword and turned to look at Agrippina and the girls.

Today, he had the ability to Strong Kill a Demigod. A Burning Heart would immobilize them, followed by several Life Destruction moves to drain a percentage of their health, forcing them to inevitably open their Domain in self-defense.

Then, all he had to do was use Soul Shattering to tear open a small area within the Domain for himself to dwell in and wait for the opponent’s spirituality to lose control and fall.

However, the problem with doing so was that a demigod’s fall would inevitably bring about a wide range of supernatural mutations; aside from a few laws such as "Devouring" and "Black Hole," these mutations, once erupted, were almost impossible to stop.

If a mutation were to break out within Venice City, it wouldn’t just be the death of a Venice Governor; it was estimated that the majority of the Venice city residents would be affected... In other words, the purpose of their trip would be thoroughly ruined.

After all, the Emperor’s mission was not to destroy Venice but to obtain aid from the City Council.

"Let’s go," Aske commanded Peggy to carry her spirituality-damaged master; they all quickly left the scene.

After walking about two blocks away, they heard a dense rush of footsteps coming from around the corner.

"Mia, cover us!" Aske suddenly warned.

Mia hurriedly activated her Shadow Ability, pulling everyone into the Shadow Realm, only to see a bunch of armed Venice militiamen running down the street towards where they had just fought.

The Venice militiamen, quite renowned sharpshooters, are reputed to use firearms loaded with specially made high-explosive bullets that, upon hitting the body, would not cause a through-and-through wound but instead explode internally, deforming in the process. Even warriors with Physical Power above Lv.6 would struggle to withstand such attacks.

"It’s okay, we’re in the Shadow Realm, they can’t see us," Mia reassured everyone, only to hear Aske suddenly order again, "Hide in the alleyway to the side!"

The group instinctively followed his command, darting into a nearby alley, only to feel a strange distortion in the surrounding space, as if the world was spinning.

Soon after, the Shadow Realm’s characteristic grey-tinged vision abruptly disappeared, replaced by the variety of colors in reality that came into their view.

They had been teleported back to the Main Plane.

Not only that, but as Transcendents, they all felt their spirituality thoroughly suppressed.

It was a very odd sensation, as if they possessed boundless strength yet were carrying the weight of a mountain on their shoulders, preventing them from exerting their proper divine power and limiting them to move like an ordinary person.

The girls were unfamiliar with this feeling, yet Agrippina and Aske were all too familiar with this uncomfortable sense of suppression.

The former had lived under such suppression of spirituality almost constantly when the Magic Tide Level limit was only at Lv.5 for nearly a thousand years.

The latter had fought countless times on similarly designed maps in conventional gaming competitions.

Gaming competition maps were almost all based on the world of the "Song of Iron and Fire" game, featuring terrains such as snowfields, wastelands, forests, volcanoes, and oceans, as well as special planes like Purgatory, Netherworld, and the Abyss, along with extremely hostile environments like the Four Elements Plane.

Of course, the most challenging were the Church Court series of maps, covered with an Anti-Demon Magnetic Field suppressing levels equivalent to the Magic Tide cap, where you couldn’t regenerate mana automatically, and using High Rank abilities too much risked loss of control. Those maps really felt restrictive to play; Physical Department characters had it somewhat better since their bodily attributes were evident, while Magic System characters were practically crippled.

"This is..." the girls’ astonished and bewildered voices brought Aske back from his reverie.

"That’s right," Aske confirmed, "This is the Church Court’s Anti-Demon Magnetic Field technology, pushing the Level Limit down to zero."

"This means that from now on, none of us can use any abilities that consume spirituality, otherwise, without replenishment, there is a risk of losing control."
