CHAPTER 537: CHAPTER 47 ENTHRONEMENT OF A SAINT

"The one who disappeared, he was a Transcendent, right?" Marcus suddenly asked.

"Mm, that’s right," Kapaxilin confirmed.

"My dear, do you suspect it’s the work of radical human Purebloodists?" Li Xiliya asked in surprise, "Weren’t they nearly wiped out in the Fourth Epoch?"

"They never disappeared," Marcus said gravely, leaning on his cane, "and perhaps they’re still in the Church, deeply hidden."

Kapaxilin was speechless. She was not clear about the internal affairs of the Church Court, and her elder brother Valian, who should’ve been aware of these matters, was a fellow immersed in scientific research with no interest in such affairs, which gave her quite the headache.

"I will contact and inquire with the Church Court," Kapaxilin replied.

"No, no need for that," Marcus shook his head, "I’ll talk to Innocent."

Though Italy boasts the Thirteen Families, only the heads of two major households—those of Lixini and Medici—had the privilege to address the Pope by name.

As the head of an ancient family from the Third Epoch, the Lixini Family Heads have maintained the customs of the Ancient Solomon people, which is to hand over the business to their heirs once they are capable of managing on their own and then enter a semi-retired state.

Now, although Kapaxilin has taken over most of the group’s operations, a few critical decisions were still communicated to her father. Of course, to Italians who value family, nothing is more important than family members being attacked.

Since her father decided to speak with the Pope personally, Kapaxilin didn’t dwell too much on the matter, and instead brought up another topic:

The lifelong event of her younger sister.

"He looks alright," Kapaxilin replied, "His character is rather cautious."

The word "cautious" was a fairly neutral assessment, but Marcus, who knew his daughter well, quickly read between the lines:

"He doesn’t fancy Nora?"

"Not really," Kapaxilin said, "It seems his ambitions lie elsewhere."

"What ambition could be more important than becoming a member of the Lixini Family?" Li Xiliya asked, puzzled.

"For instance," Kapaxilin said, "becoming a demigod. He has already stepped into the Law Level of the Transcendents."

"After all, the Magic Tide is on the rise," Marcus added. "It’s normal for young people to be ambitious. What does Nora think? How far has their relationship developed now?"

Kapaxilin fell silent for a moment, then suddenly remembered the request Nora had made of her earlier.

"It’s stable enough," she used a vague term, "but... the Church Court seems to oppose the relationship between the two."

"The Church Court?" Marcus chuckled coldly. "Since when does the Church Court intervene in the Lixini Family’s private affairs?"

"Brother Valian means, because both Nora and Aske are rated R4 in threat level, so the combination of two unstable elements might lead to unforeseen changes," Kapaxilin explained. "The Church Court has many concerns about this. That’s one of the reasons."

"R4?" This was the first time Li Xiliya had heard that her daughter was on Raphael’s priority surveillance list. "Is that a mistake? Do we not know Nora’s character? Just being on that intimidation list is outrageous enough."

"Nora is currently a Level 10 Transcendent, and her bloodline is that of a Life Songster," Kapaxilin said. "Valian mentioned that the Church Court hopes she will focus on the Evolution Law and subsequently aid in suppressing the Source Tree. Perhaps that’s why she’s been listed as R4."

"As compensation, the Church Court is willing to make Valian the next Pope. And as long as Nora advances to Level 30 and completely withdraws from secular affairs, the Church Court will grant her sainthood."

"Sainthood?" Marcus shook his head. "That’s even more ridiculous."

As everyone knows, there are two conditions for receiving sainthood from the Church Court: one is being "in Heaven" (dead), and the other is becoming an "Earth Angel" (close to the divine stage at Level 30 or above).

The former can receive worship from all followers within the scope of the Solomon Sect, but since the person is already dead, it is essentially nothing more than an illusory honor. The latter constitutes a real "Saint" within the Church Court, who can even mobilize most of the Church’s resources within a limited range, and is a highly revered position within the Church’s internal hierarchy.

If you add in the condition of Valian becoming the next Pope, it would mean that the entire Solomon Church will fall into the hands of the Lixini Family. How is that possible? Even if Innocent suddenly discovered he was an illegitimate child of the Lixini Family, he couldn’t make such a politically nonsensical decision.

Of course, the other problem is that the Holy Daughter must be pure and not defiled by human relationships. So for the Church Court to use this as an excuse to hinder their relationship is begrudgingly justifiable.
