Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 237: The Catalyst Core
CHAPTER 237: CHAPTER 237: THE CATALYST CORE
Well, the space inside a jade bangle in itself was already a miracle anyway. There was a desk and chairs inside including a ladder that could help one in reaching books that are stacked high.
Leng Pan remembered this place. Since she had gained back her memories she could remember many things, especially when she sees them.
She remembered that the ladder could move on its own. She just had to ask Zee and the ladder would disintegrate and move to the place she wants and it to.
"This place should do, there is a bed over there where you can rest if you are tired and don’t want to leave." Leng Pan told her brother-in-law while pointing at a corner that held a bed, a bedside table and a sofa.
It was a comfortable space that can also be blocked by blinds if he chose to use them.
"If you are in here alone and want to leave, you can just say so and if it’s convenient, I will bring you out." Leng Pan continued to explain.
"Thank you sister-in-law, this place is so cool. Working here would be really refreshing." Lu Tao was happy to see such a technologically advanced space where he could work from.
He felt that this place could even inspire him to do more and develop more advanced devices that do not require satellites to operate.
The other family members were also shocked to see the place. Even though their families had been wealthy before the apocalypse with unlimited money, they had never witnessed something like this.
"If the technology in the place had surfaced before the apocalypse, it could make a company the leader in the whole world in technical advancement." Uncle Li said in admiration.
He had not thought that he would see something like this in his life. Something that could only be seen in sci-fi movies.
"Alright, let’s go back to the living room. I believe you all saw that rock glowing with a purple light right?" Leng Pan asked while leading the way back to the living room.
Of course, the others had seen such a large rock sitting there and glowing. It stuck out like a sore thumb in that high-tech environment.
"Yes, we saw it. What about it?" Li Yunjia asked while following behind with her sister-in-law and her brother and younger son brought the rear.
As she and her husband walked at the front, hand-in-hand, she began to explain.
"That meteorite is special. It fell with the others and I believe that while the other meteorites produced gas that could turn people into zombies or give them superpowers, this one helps in advancing strength and powers.
And not just for humans but for zombies as well. We found it by accident and when we realized that the zombies that were standing near it became faster and stronger than the others, we took it.
Lu Tao should have heard about a special meteorite in the conversations he has intercepted between one Commander Qui and his minions, known as catalyst core.
Well, this is one of those catalyst cores. We just don’t know how many there are, but the truth is, if it falls in the hands of those trying to create something like what you just saw in the conference room, then humanity is doomed.
And we have reason to believe that Commander Qui is one of those, although he is in the military." Leng Pan explained the meteorite situation as they entered the living room and took their seats again.
Now the newcomers could not see the meteorite the same way as before. At first, they had thought that it was a decorative piece, but as it turned out, it was something that could give benefits, but also create disaster.
"You guys can touch it for a few minutes then sit down and meditate to assimilate the power it gives you. Just don’t do it often as it can overwhelm you, especially if you don’t go out to train and stabilize your superpower." Leng Pan explained with a serious expression.
She knew that it was human nature to be greedy and want more. So, if they found out that the meteorite could improve their superpowers, they would just want to keep using it without understanding that everything should have a limit.
Luckily, her family were educated and understood the principle of too much of anything was poisonous.
"Panpan is right. In fact, if we can avoid coming in here that would be good because we would never know who is watching.
Since Little Tao can watch others, it means that others could watch us too. Suddenly disappearing from our house from time to time would raise suspicions and put Panpan in danger or all of us.
So, we can just benefit from what we can get from you two. Now I understand why sometimes our superpowers would surge and improve out of nowhere.
I think it has happened twice so far. You must have wanted to share the benefits of the meteorite with us.
Let’s not come in here again unless absolutely necessary. Brother, sister-in-law, what do you think?" Li Yunjia was the first to propose this because she didn’t want her son and daughter-in-law to be in danger.
Also, she understood that something like that meteorite must have a kind of magnetic field and since there were other people looking for it, and they were not friendly, then using it often could trigger its location.
The other elders were also aware of this and both agreed to stay away from the space. Knowing that they had such a trump card was enough.
"Don’t worry sister-in-law, the reason we are all doing well is because of the two children and we can’t jeopardize their safety, just for some powers.
Moreover, we already have superpowers and using crystal cores helps us to improve. The power we get from the crystal cores is enough for us old people.
They are the ones who need to improve faster, so, let’s stay away from this space and not say a word about it after we exist.
After all, anyone eavesdropping could connect the dots from just a few words if they want." Auntie Li was indeed wise when needed.
