Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 297: Understanding Unique Superpowers
CHAPTER 297: CHAPTER 297: UNDERSTANDING UNIQUE SUPERPOWERS
He knew that Shade was an alpha wolf, moreover, it was a mutated one that was almost three times the size of a regular adult wolf, and was also stronger and deadlier.
So, if it was well trained, it could become a strong partner in battle.
"Then I can help with the training." Assistant Yao immediately offered.
Lu Zhen understood his assistant quite well and he didn’t deny him his desire.
He thought that if they came across another animal that could be used for hunting then he could get it for his assistant.
The group had walked for less than five minutes after leaving the community gate before Janna said something that made them stop.
"There are people in front. Six people and thirteen zombies." She muttered in a low voice.
Of course, people like Leng Pan, Lu Zhen, Silk, Blaze, Vortex, and Assistant Yao had already discovered those people long ago.
The distance that Janna’s superpower can operate as a map was still a small radius. If they depended on her solely then they would find themselves in trouble.
However, it was still good to have such a person with a unique ability like that in the team. Once her ability grew, she would become an indispensable asset.
The few people who hadn’t been going out to kill zombies, especially the elders, were itching to go and fight since they heard that the number of zombies was small.
With so many people around them, even if they were in danger, they didn’t have to worry about getting hurt.
However, both Leng Pan and Lu Zhen just walked a few more meters close to where the fight was ongoing and stood still.
They showed no intention of joining the fight or asking them to join.
Even though Li Yunjia and the others didn’t understand what was happening, they kept quiet as well.
Of course, Uncle Li was different, as a former soldier, he understood why his nephew and niece-in-law stood to the side and did nothing.
They knew nothing about the people fighting the zombies and didn’t know whether it was a real fight or a trap.
People could no longer be trusted. If they jumped in to help and it turned out to be a trap set up by other survivors or worse, those aliens they saw in the video of the ancient battle, things could get ugly fast.
It was always better to have some information about a situation before getting involved and since the people fighting hadn’t said anything or asked for help, then it was better to steer clear.
As such, Leng Pan turned and walked around the fighting group and urged her team to follow.
"Let’s go." She said to the others.
Lu Zhen didn’t even wait for her to say anything and he had already followed in her footsteps.
He too understood the importance of not meddling in other people’s business, especially when they had some ability.
Even though the zombies were a little more than the people in that group, there were already over twenty dead zombies around them showing that they were capable.
Not a single one of them had been injured or died. Thus, it was obvious their abilities weren’t a joke.
There was no need to get in the way of such people. Hence, the two leaders made the decision to walk away and look for other zombies to train with.
Nevertheless, both Leng Pan and Lu Zhen wondered in their mind why these people were so close to their community when clearly most people had joined various bases.
It was worth investigating as they couldn’t eliminate the fact that aliens were already within their midst and it was not beneath them to send traitors to infiltrate their groups or even disguise themselves as humans.
The other teammates didn’t ask any questions and simply did as they were told.
They followed Leng Pan and Lu Zhen and continued forward.
It was only after they had been gone for five minutes that the group of people they had left behind managed to kill all the zombies and looked in the direction they had left in.
"Captain, do you think these are the people the boss is looking for?" One of the members of the team asked curiously.
"I don’t know, they’re all covered up, it’s difficult to see their faces.
Even though we saw their portraits, it’s no use when we can see their faces now." The man referred to as the captain replied.
"Then what do we do? Before this cold temperature ends, I doubt we will be able to see anyone’s face." Another member of the team complained as well.
"The problem is that we cannot just walk up to them and ask if they were Commander Leng and Commander Lu.
If it isn’t them, then it would sound so weird, and even if it is them, it would only raise alarm.
Every action we take is wrong. I wonder what the boss was expecting when he sent us out to look for total strangers." The first man added.
They had been searching for the said people for almost a month now, but hadn’t found them.
They had followed a clue to this area, but still didn’t have a way of verifying the identities of the people they saw. It was frustrating.
"I don’t think those two people are complete strangers, at least the man isn’t.
I can’t put my finger on it, but I have a feeling that I have seen him before, I just don’t remember where or when." Another young man commented while beating his head as if that would jog his memory.
Another team member, one of the two female members in the team, rolled her eyes when she heard that.
"Of course he would be familiar. I am still surprised that you guys still haven’t figured who that is all this time.
Which rock were you living under before the apocalypse?" She asked with some sort of mockery.
"Little Jas, are you saying that you know who that guy is? Who is he? Hurry and tell us." the young man who commented about seeing Lu Zhen somewhere before ran in front of the girl and asked hurriedly.
