Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 306: Building Bridges
CHAPTER 306: CHAPTER 306: BUILDING BRIDGES
Everyone turned to observe the building that was a short distance away. They had to cross a few other buildings to get to it.
Moreover, it was a little taller than the one they were in, but with auntie Li’s wood superpower that could literally build bridges, there was no problem in getting there.
What’s more, the distance between the buildings wasn’t big. So, for those with more strength, they could just jump over the roofs of the buildings.
"Let’s go and investigate first before making a decision." Juan Ke who had always been quiet opened his mouth and said.
"Mmm.... it’s better to check the situation out." Xu Man agreed as he held his wife’s hand while looking over towards the building in question.
It was gratifying to see how ever since the first time he interacted with Lu Zhen and Leng Pan and stopped letting his ego lead him, he had become a wife-loving and protective man.
It was as if he had become a different person. However, it was a good change, especially in the apocalypse where spouses abandoned each other for some supplies.
Juan Ke was an example. His wife had moved away with Boss Wang and his gang when the opening of safe bases was announced.
No one had any objections about going to investigate, thus, they all began walking towards the other end of the roof.
When they came to the edge of the building, Auntie Li looked around to see if there was a plant there she could grow faster but didn’t find any.
Leng Pan looked around as well and saw nothing, so when no one was looking at her, she pulled out a couple of flowers from the garden inside the space bangle.
She also took out a planter and added soil with her consciousness.
She then put them at the corner of the roof where they were almost immediately discovered by Janna who ran over to bring them to Auntie Li.
Apart from Lu Zhen, no one else discovered that it was Leng Pan who had put those flowers there.
With plants to grow, Auntie Li didn’t hesitate and immediately inserted her superpower into the flowers and they soon grew out.
They extended in a way that normal flowers could never do.
Auntie Li made sure to direct the side growing longer onto the roof of the other building.
Soon, they had a bridge they could use to cross the distance between the two roofs.
Even though that was the case, Leng Pan still advised her teammates not to look down while crossing and to walk slowly.
Just like before, she and Lu Zhen brought up the rear while Lu Tao, pretending to be brave, said he would test the sturdiness of the bridge made from flowers for everyone.
No one had any objections and soon, Lu Tao was on the other side of the roof.
Janna didn’t want to be outdone and followed behind Lu Tao. No one persuaded them, seeing as they were the youngest in the team and we’re just in their early teens.
The bridge made from the two flowers wasn’t large, but it was sturdier than expected. It didn’t even sway when someone walked on it.
They crossed the bridge one by one and soon everyone had crossed.
Leng Pan looked at the bridge they had just used and realized that Auntie Li was about to absorb the essence again.
"Why don’t you see if you can move the whole bridge to the next building? We can use it until we are done crossing all the roofs before you absorb the energy from the flowers again.
That way we can save some time and energy. We don’t know what to expect in that building and if we can take care of it sooner, then it would be better." Leng Pan suggested to her aunt.
She had realized that while they were crossing the buildings, more zombies were joining the horde of zombies below.
She realized that if this continued, humans or even aliens may get attracted there.
It was obvious now that the only reason this place had not been discovered was because of the low visibility caused by the dense snow and the extremely cold weather that prevented many people from leaving their houses.
However, if someone discovers the abnormality there, they would definitely not let it go and may even bring back up.
Thus, it was better to handle the situation as soon as possible.
"Okay, let me try if it’s possible then we can hurry up." Auntie Li agreed immediately to her niece-in-law’s suggestion and went on to use her ability to move the bridge.
To her surprise, it really moved. As such the team spent the next thirty minutes crossing roofs on a flower bridge.
They only stopped when they reached the roof of the building they were interested in.
However, the building was almost completely surrounded and filled to the brim with zombies.
Luckily, those zombies didn’t seem to know how to climb walls and we’re just crowding on the ground or filled within the floors in the building.
The room that seemed to have some treasure that had attracted all those zombies there was on the top floor. However, it was also surrounded by zombies from the inside.
The team realized that their only way to find out what was inside and probably take it without causing any damages or having to fight first was to get into the room from the outside of that floor.
They realized that it was not going to be easy since the room seemed to have been reinforced considering that the zombies inside had been trying to break into it for a long time and had not succeeded yet.
Nevertheless, they chose to give it a try and have Lu Zhen use his mutated fire to try and burn a hole in the wall.
"For that to work, he would need equipment for climbing so that he can hang himself on the side of the building." Juan Ke said while looking thoughtful.
