CHAPTER 307: CHAPTER 307: REPAYING KINDNESS

"Boss, why don’t you let me go first and try to get in?" Assistant Yao suggested while observing the edge of the building.

He didn’t want his boss to risk his life while he stood to the side safe and sound.

He could never do something like that. Moreover, after learning about his boss’s past, Assistant Yao’s admiration for Lu Zhen had increased bordering on worship.

He had admired his boss before for his decisiveness, ruthlessness in business, and his high intelligence.

However, it was only after the apocalypse started that he realized that his boss was more than just a business guru.

He was an enigma among men. His superpower was different from others and a notch above everyone else.

Not only that, but he improved faster than anyone else he knew, except for his wife, but then birds of a feather flock together.

You couldn’t expect Leng Pan to be any different from her husband.

Nevertheless, it was their past that had made Assistant Yao worship the two people referred to as Commander in their previous lives.

He had also seen that video from the memories saved inside the catalyst core and he could not believe that such legendary figures were his boss and boss lady.

He had vowed to assist them in changing history and this time, beating the apocalypse and sending all the aliens parking.

Thus, he was not about to let his boss risk his life while he stood to the side and did nothing.

Lu Zhen turned to look at his former assistant who had insisted on following him even in the apocalypse and seeing the determined look in his eyes, he knew that no one would be able to change his mind no matter what they said.

Just like how Assistant Yao knew his boss, Lu Zhen was also aware of his assistant’s stubborn character.

Therefore, he didn’t even bother to persuade him.

Auntie Yao was also aware of her son’s character, thus, she didn’t bother to ask him not to do it either.

Moreover, even if her son had not volunteered, she would have urged him to.

Their family owed Lu Zhen a lot and there was nothing wrong with serving under the Lu family for all their lives.

In fact, she thought that if they were lucky enough to survive the apocalypse and continue their bloodline, she would make a rule that all the generations of the Yao family would serve the Lu family from now on.

It was not easy to find a boss who was as caring as Lu Zhen although he always looked cold and distant.

If it had not been for him, she would have died in some other place alone.

However, as soon as he suspected something, he had instructed her son to bring her to the city he was in and stay with her.

He had also let her son know about his plans and guided him into stocking up on numerous supplies quietly which had allowed them to survive the most confusing period of human existence.

If when the apocalypse had started they had no bulk of supplies, maybe they wouldn’t be here at that moment.

So, she was very grateful to Lu Zhen and his wife.

That was why she didn’t object to her son trying to get into the building.

Leng Pan looked into her backpack and pulled out a long and sturdy rope. She handed it over to Assistant Yao who then tied one end of the rope to his waist.

The other end was handed over to Juan Ke. Juan Ke didn’t want to take the risk of accidentally dropping his teammate, thus, he wrapped the rope around his hand and handed the remaining part to Xu Man.

Lu Zhen walked over and took a part of the rope as well. He wrapped it on his forearm before giving Assistant Yao the signal to descend.

Assistant Yao walked to the edge of the roof and looked down. There were zombies everywhere. If one fell by accident, no matter how powerful they were, they would lose a layer of skin even if they didn’t die.

He took a deep breath and climbed to the edge before turning around and using his hands and feet to start moving down.

The others held onto the other end of the rope and released the length of the rope as needed.

It didn’t take long for Assistant Yao to find a window that showed the inside of the room they were interested in.

The glass on the window was transparent and he could see how the room looked inside.

From the outside, it looked like a bedroom. However, there didn’t seem to be anyone inside. In fact, it seemed like when the apocalypse started, there wasn’t anyone inside considering the place was clean and organized.

The bed in the room was spread out and didn’t look like anyone had slept on it for a long time.

That was evident from the thick layer of dust visible to the naked eye.

Assistant Yao observed everything he could see but saw nothing unusual. He couldn’t understand what was in that house that had caused the zombies to surround it so much.

However, he knew better than to judge the situation by what he could see from the outside.

Thus, he took out a hammer from God knows where and started hammering the window.

Unfortunately, not even a scratch could be seen on the window. It was even tougher than a bullet proof glass.
