Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse
Chapter 309: The Indestructible Tiles
CHAPTER 309: CHAPTER 309: THE INDESTRUCTIBLE TILES
Usually, if he set a fire on a regular floor or stone, it would turn to dust in seconds.
However, this time was different. It took Lu Zhen five minutes of non-stop burning to burn the tiles on the floor to dust.
This was almost unthinkable. It meant that the stone had made the tiles so hard that they were almost completely destruction-proof.
"This is incredible. If we can build a base with the stone in the foundation, then we could be sure that it won’t be destroyed even if missiles were sent to blow it up." Assistant Yao was so excited that he was somewhat incoherent.
"That’s a good idea, but aren’t you curious why the zombies are so eager to get close to it?
I would think that it has the same effect on humans. What if it also made the bodies of humans Indestructible?" Leng Pan asked thoughtfully.
Both Lu Zhen and Assistant Yao were surprised by her assumption, but it also made sense. Otherwise, why would so many zombies be so eager to get close to the stone?
"We can test that theory by fighting the zombies closest to this room. They should have received the most benefits from the stone if any." Lu Zhen suggested and both his companions thought it was a good idea.
"But we will need to isolate them first before we can do that. There are practically thousands of zombies out there and if a fight starts, they will mix together.
How are we going to find the ones that had been close to the room before?" Assistant Yao asked worriedly.
"No need to worry about that.
Since the stone had made the room almost indestructible, then we can use that to our advantage.
We just need to divide and conquer. We let a certain number of zombies in through the door and fight them before letting another group in." Leng Pan suggested and Lu Zhen thought his wife’s suggestion was clever.
"Mmm...we can use Panpan’s method. That way, we will find out how strong each zombie is and also study their weaknesses." He agreed readily.
Assistant Yao was aware that Lu Zhen would agree with his wife no matter what so he didn’t argue.
Moreover, he didn’t have a better idea.
"I think that is right as well. It will also make it easier to fight if we are not fighting in the heavy snow and the cold that penetrated to the bone." He had no choice but to agree as well.
After they had come to an agreement, they went to open the door and walked through the living room, which like the bedroom was tidy with only a layer of dust visible.
When the door was unbolted zombies rushed in like a tide. Leng Pan had to quickly put up a barrier outside the door using her spiritual water mist that repelled the other zombies and isolated those that had just rushed into the house.
She went ahead to lock the door again.
She had covered herself with the spiritual water mist to prevent any sneak attacks from zombies succeeding.
When she turned back, she found both Lu Zhen and Assistant Yao engaged in battle with six zombies.
Those were the zombies that had rushed in immediately after the door was opened. They were also the zombies that had been closest to the stone and the ones that had gotten the most benefits.
That could be seen by the way Lu Zhen had almost broken his arm from blocking a blow from one of the zombies with his arm.
It was obvious that the bones of the zombies were much tougher than normal humans.
Even though they were zombies, they had been humans before. That meant that their bone structure and composition should be the same as that of regular humans.
However, now it was obvious that the bones of these zombies were tougher than steel.
They didn’t need any more verifying. It was obvious that the stone also had the same effect of making the human body indestructible as well.
Without a word, Leng Pan joined the battle and in order to train their skills, especially close combat, the three didn’t use their superpowers.
Leng Pan even withdrew the mist around her body and fought without any protection.
She was aware that this was risky but the danger and risk also helped in vigilance when fighting, which was also a part of training.
Since there were six zombies, everyone was entangled in a battle with two zombies each.
Even though close combat was a little difficult to handle, especially when the zombies seemed to be somewhat advanced and had some self-awareness, Leng Pan and Lu Zhen weren’t struggling much.
It was assistant Yao who was having a hard time keeping up.
However, he would use his super speed when necessary to save himself. Thus, he was holding up fine as well.
The fight took nearly half an hour before Leng Pan used spiritual mist to attack the zombies and after a minute, they had turned into nothing.
Lu Zhen also used his mutated fire to burn his opponents as well and turned to help his assistant.
Assistant Yao had already used his speed the same way he had penetrated the window and shattered the skull of one zombie.
He was still trying to get close enough to the other to do the same when it was engulfed by fire and turned to dust after a minute.
After all the zombies were dead. The three picked up six crystal cores and examined them.
They didn’t look any different from the others they had seen before, but they could feel that the power contained inside was more potent.
They weren’t sure and would only confirm this after they had used it.
Without much thought, Leng Pan materialized a container and put the crystal cores inside.
She then added water directly from the spiritual spring.
She wanted to remove all the impurities as soon as possible, thus, she didn’t use the spiritual water she produced from her superpower but used the one in the space bangle instead.
