CHAPTER 38: SLIME IS THE SOLUTION

"I became a Meta Zombie—a zombie with intelligence and memory, but filled with the desire to kill humans. After that, I was killed by Master and resurrected with his skill, now living under his control so I no longer have the urge to kill humans," Alice finally explained what had happened to her.

Selena blinked several times upon hearing that, as if struggling to digest the information.

Then she looked at Liam, clearly confused about what to say next.

Meanwhile, Liam was focused on observing the Undead King, who was still busy fending off his attacks.

The monster flew higher into the air, but was continuously bombarded by wave after wave of light.

’It seems light really is his weakness. If I attacked with another element, I doubt he’d be this troubled—even if it was an endless assault,’ Liam thought.

’But... can he truly not die?’ he wondered.

As he continued watching, he noticed something strange: the Undead King’s skeletal body appeared to be regenerating on its own, almost like he had immense vitality. But that wasn’t exactly it.

’Living as death?’ Liam pondered, but it was something too abstract to fully comprehend.

Still, he was fairly certain the Undead King’s existence wasn’t without value.

The System had said he could be captured. So then what?

Once captured, perhaps the Undead King could be used for various things.

As Liam considered the possibility of capturing him, the Undead King suddenly flew toward him, darting through the sky like a bolt of dark lightning.

’He must think my death is the only way to stop the light waves,’ Liam thought.

In other words, the Undead King would keep chasing him.

Liam didn’t believe he could just run away, but moving while retreating was the best way to figure out a method to capture him.

As the Undead King drew closer, Liam released a new attack from his angelic hand.

He fired a beam of light shaped like a star, one that could emit infinite light upon contact with a target or object.

It wasn’t the most terrifying type of attack—but it was devastating to dark creatures. It was likely designed by angels specifically for beings of darkness.

Seeing another attack coming, the Undead King launched a massive dark orb from his staff, swallowing the star-shaped light.

At a glance, it looked like a pulsing orb of dense liquid, perhaps made of highly concentrated darkness.

Buzz!

The star-shaped light exploded inside the orb, radiating such intense light that it blurred the vision of anyone watching and made their heads spin.

The dark orb was destroyed by the explosion—but it had also absorbed much of the light’s energy.

Of course, Liam had activated Infinite Attack.

Another star-shaped light instantly appeared, shooting straight toward the Undead King, whose red eyes widened—clearly not expecting another attack just like the previous one.

The star-shaped light entered his abdomen, exploded, and emitted limitless light from within his body.

All the darkness was purged, even turning his black bones white.

The bones began to crumble—the light had weakened them too much. His regeneration couldn’t keep up, and in the end, only his glowing red eyes remained.

The light couldn’t destroy the eyes just yet—but another star-shaped light appeared right in front of them, striking them and triggering another explosion of light.

At the same time, the lingering light waves engulfed the eyes.

They quickly disintegrated, like slowly crumbling stones.

Bit by bit, they shrank until nothing remained.

With nothing left, this should have been absolute death.

Liam had basically proven stronger than the Undead King.

Of course, unleashing two massive attacks in a row alongside Infinite Attack had completely drained his Mana and Stamina.

He was now sweating all over.

But... he didn’t receive any notification that he had killed a specific creature.

Moreover, a new wave of light and another star-shaped light immediately appeared.

Then Liam saw the Undead King reappear in the same place where he had vanished—regenerating with lightning speed.

"It’s pointless. When he first appeared, he wasn’t as strong as he is now. Many people attacked him all at once and completely destroyed him—but he just came back like this. It’s happened over and over again," Selena said.

"You’re better off stopping your attacks so he won’t keep chasing you," she added.

Liam didn’t respond immediately—he was still focused on the Undead King, who was once again enduring his light-based attacks.

The monster seemed out of Mana. Even the undead below had collapsed, returning to the earth.

Still, even with his Mana depleted, it took time for the light to destroy his body again.

But at least he couldn’t attack right now.

Naturally, the Undead King’s Mana began regenerating. If he didn’t use any more, it would eventually fill back up—even if he was destroyed repeatedly.

If the fight kept going, Liam realized he would be the one to lose.

Apparently, flying didn’t even cost the Undead King Mana. That ability seemed innate.

Stopping the attacks and leaving, as Selena suggested, might be the best choice.

But Liam preferred to capture the Undead King.

The problem was, he didn’t know how to restrain him after capturing him. He had no method to enslave other creatures—aside from those he personally revived. Nor did he have a prison strong enough to confine him.

To truly imprison the Undead King, he’d need an incredibly strong cell—something capable of sealing his powers or at least blocking his attacks.

Otherwise, the Undead King would just blast out again. After all, he didn’t rely on physical strikes, but rather extremely dangerous dark magic.

After thinking it over, Liam realized he simply couldn’t capture the Undead King right now.

"Eh..." He was startled when Alice—who stood beside him—suddenly leapt toward the Undead King.

’What is she trying to do?’ Liam wondered.

He didn’t place strict control over Alice. As long as he didn’t issue a direct command, she could act freely—as long as it didn’t endanger him.

At that moment, Liam saw thin blood threads emerge from Alice’s fingertips, quickly extending toward the Undead King’s limbs and wrapping around his torso.

’Is she trying to capture him?’

Liam was shocked—but assumed it would be futile. He doubted blood threads could restrain the Undead King’s dark powers.

Alice hadn’t fully reached the Undead King—despite her leap, her body was falling. But her blood threads were pulling the Undead King down, even as Liam’s light kept striking him.

To Liam’s surprise, a dark blue energy began flowing from the Undead King into Alice’s blood threads.

’Mana?’

Liam couldn’t help but wonder—was it the Undead King’s Mana?

Was Alice absorbing it?

He hadn’t expected her to have a skill like this.

If so... capturing the Undead King might really be possible.

As his Mana was continuously drained, the Undead King remained weakened—clearly unable to recover, since Mana was his only true resource.

"Alice!" Liam rushed toward her.

Everything was safe now, especially with no more undead around them.

"Master, it’s safe now. I’ve captured the Undead King and will keep draining his Mana. You can stop your attacks," Alice said calmly.

Liam nodded, halting the Infinite Attack with a single thought.

The light waves vanished.

"I didn’t expect you to have a Mana-draining ability," he said.

"It’s my natural ability, but while I do it, I can’t do anything else. And I can’t keep this up for long—an hour at most, since it drains my own Mana too," Alice replied.

"Doesn’t the Mana you absorb become yours?" Liam asked, confused.

"No. It’s a different type of Mana and not compatible with mine," Alice explained.

Liam fell silent.

"Master, why don’t you try transforming your hand into a slime hand? Don’t slimes have the ability to absorb other creatures?" Alice asked.

Liam’s eyes flickered.

Slime?

He recalled a few fantasy novels where certain slimes could absorb creatures and gain their powers.

Maybe Alice enjoyed fantasy novels and came up with the idea from there.

Still, Liam didn’t know if slimes actually existed in this new world—or if they really had that power.

But then again... could this world still be called real?

It was more like a fantasy world now, filled with beings pulled straight from fiction.

He then pictured his right hand turning into a slime hand. Of course, not just any slime—he envisioned a Slime King. He wouldn’t risk it with a normal one.

The moment he imagined it, his right hand turned into green goo with multicolored diamond-like spots.

It didn’t look particularly special—except the palm had a mouth.

With a single thought, the slime hand grew huge, even bigger than his own body—yet incredibly light.

It moved as if it had a life of its own, its mouth opening and closing to reveal rows of gooey, dripping teeth.

Liam stepped toward the Undead King, who couldn’t move, smiling broadly because he already knew what would happen next since his hand had turned into a slime hand.

Even though only his right hand had turned into a slime hand, that was more than enough.

At most, he would need extra strength because he was relying solely on his right hand.

When he reached the Undead King, he pointed his palm toward him.

Shua!

The mouth on the palm swallowed the Undead King.

Though he was already very large, the mouth could become twice as large as the Undead King’s body.
