Rise of the Harem King
Chapter 142: Decisive moments.
CHAPTER 142: DECISIVE MOMENTS.
In the center of the arena, where the two main groups were fighting, the battle continued in a coordinated manner. Carlos summoned a giant gorilla, which charged toward Alexia, trying to move away from Davi.
At the same time, Liza tried to attack the man, who for a moment got distracted watching Ember’s fight. But he dodged at the last second when he heard Alexia call out his name.
Turning his attention back to his own battle, Davi decided to place full trust in Ember, she had grown a lot, and without a doubt, she would still show him surprising results.
He dodged another shot from Liza and managed to get close to her and land a hit, but the girl was quick to react.
And unlike most people with long-range attack classes, she was very skilled in close combat.
In particular, she had learned a lot from Rile and his defensive fighting style. That’s why it was always very difficult to land killing blows on her.
"Get away!" Roland roared as he swung his massive axe and stood between Davi and Liza, preventing him from pressing further against the archer.
And in the next moment, a soft light enveloped the woman. And that was the main reason they hadn’t managed to win yet. Davi’s team was more powerful than their opponents, but they always managed to retreat in time.
So all the damage dealt would be healed by that damn blonde. On top of that, she boosted her allies’ strength at just the right moments, ensuring they wouldn’t be easily defeated.
However, she also knew when not to use buffs, saving her mana as much as possible. After all, the moment Sophia ran out of mana, their team would fall.
Davi had managed to come up with a good strategy, with Alden drawing most of the monsters summoned by Carlos. Thanks to that, he and Alexia were able to easily pressure Roland and Liza. But he had never managed to land the final blow.
Moreover, Carlos hadn’t been completely neutralized and always managed to show up at inconvenient times. On the other hand, Alden also managed to be a pain for the enemies, soaking up hits.
Even though he ran around like an idiot, his impressive defense made him very useful. Even more so in an endurance combat like this.
Of course, Adrian also did his part. He didn’t come close to someone like Sophia, who seemed to have infinite mana and all the best support abilities.
Still, he was very good, and the extra stamina he granted ensured that Alden, Davi, and Alexia wouldn’t be easily defeated in a war of attrition.
The problem was that long-term battles were always Davi’s Achilles’ heel. Sophia, knowing this, relied on the idea that she could defeat him that way.
And up to that point, her strategy had achieved moderate success. But since the boy wasn’t using his main abilities and used minimal reinforcement, he managed to extend his fighting capacity to the maximum.
Furthermore, Alexia hadn’t even used her trump card yet. And the main reason for this was that neither of them wanted to risk too much and run out of energy. At least not while the fight between Ember and Rowan hadn’t ended yet.
Sophia also had her own trump cards and, more importantly, her healing abilities. She was confident that as soon as those guys used their trump cards, she would be able to resist.
Thus, the combat found itself in a stalemate, and as long as one of the duels didn’t end, neither side would likely risk everything. Besides, it was hard to imagine Lara’s battle ending anytime soon, so the most important battle was Ember’s one.
Then a huge explosion resonated in the arena, as Ember created a mini-sun and fired it at her brother.
The dance of flames was so impressive that all those fighting stopped moving for an instant. It was hard not to be impressed watching that battle.
The crowd was astonished, and many stood up instinctively, watching the rest of the combat on their feet. The cheers of the crowd and the murmurs ceased, as everyone watched in silence. No one dared to utter even the slightest sound.
Moreover, everyone instinctively understood that the outcome of that combat would define the winner of the tournament.
So, as the flames danced, Sophia hoped that stupid redhead would at least do a good job.
When the flames finally dispersed, the whole arena was hotter, but no one seemed to care. Davi and Liza exchanged blows, but their focus remained partially on the outcome of it all.
And Rowan was the victor. At least, his flames were able to engulf Ember’s flames, proving the immense firepower he possessed.
Even all that hadn’t been enough.
For a moment, the audience thought he would be the victor, but Davi and Sophia knew very well that the result would be otherwise.
Damn it, that idiot went too far... Sophia cursed in thought. If the redhead were closer, she could regenerate his mana, but that idiot didn’t pay attention to that and moved too far away.
The further away the target was, the more mana Sophia would spend to use her abilities, so she couldn’t do anything at that moment. She needed to get closer.
"Don’t even try," Davi immediately appeared between her and her target. And he was much faster than before.
"So you’re finally going to stop holding back," she murmured, forcing herself to smile confidently.
As always, Carlos moved quickly and managed to defend his lady before Davi could strike with his sword.
Meanwhile, exhausted and almost out of mana, Rowan fell to his knees, his breathing heavy, and he could barely maintain consciousness.
Liza tried to advance to attack Davi and clear a path for her leader to go to the stupid redhead, but Davi managed to dodge her blows and used a
At the same time, Roland tried to brandish his axe to hit Alexia, but she finally decided to go all out. So the blade passed through her body, now free as the wind. And with enormous acceleration, she advanced, attacking the man.
"Damn it..." Sophia cursed, being forced to turn her attention back to Roland. She couldn’t let him fall at that moment.
And soon, Sophia’s team was under pressure, appearing on the verge of collapse. To make matters worse, it was very likely that Ember would soon join them. If that happened, Sophia knew they would be finished.
Lara and Riley, meanwhile, continued their battle as if nothing had happened. The man couldn’t stop focusing on his opponent for even a second, because if he showed any flaw, she would cut him in half. So he didn’t even know what was happening in the rest of the fight; all his focus was on Lara.
The girl now moved with her spear, attacking fiercely and destroying the arena; around them, several craters were left behind.
