CHAPTER 1525: CHAPTER 727 THINGS JUST GOT INTERESTING_2
"Well, send a cargo ship my way according to the coordinates I’ve given you. I’ve discovered two sunken ships underwater here, loaded with plenty of porcelain, perfect for salvaging and selling straight off."
"That’s fantastic! I’ll have someone head over right now!"
Sean Knight hung up the phone, sent the coordinates to Lana Brown, and then raced towards another set of coordinates.
As the yacht arrived in that sea territory, Sean looked underwater and couldn’t help but laugh with joy.
Beneath him was another sunken ship, but the water here was less than thirty meters deep, and the visibility from the surface was crystal clear, making it extremely easy to salvage.
It was like a gift from heaven!
Sean studied the scene carefully with his Sky Eye. This ship was smaller than the previous one—with a cargo capacity of just seventy to eighty tons and was still relatively intact. It had two-thirds less porcelain than the first ship, and there were also lumps of copper coins that had solidified together.
It seemed that the ship must have been carrying other goods because, in another cabin, he could see scattered gold and silver ware, though not much. On closer inspection, there were two gold ingots and a dozen silver ingots.
Compared to the previous ship, it was somewhat meager.
But once the porcelain and the lump of copper coins were salvaged and taken to the island, they were bound to be fairly popular in the bargain hunters’ market.
Sean returned to the first sunken ship, parked the yacht, and dove into the water. After reaching the seabed, he collected the two chests of golden coins and gemstone rough.
Those items were better left out of the limelight.
Once he emerged from the water, Sean had a quick bite, then tuned into his surroundings with great concentration.
Unfortunately, he didn’t get that same feeling again.
It seems there were only these two sunken ships nearby.
Still not completely dissuaded, Sean took the yacht on a large sweep of the area, but after having no further luck, he resigned himself to waiting quietly for the cargo ship to arrive.
What arrived wasn’t a cargo ship but a salvage ship that Sean had gotten his hands on directly from those troublemakers in the past. Lana Brown had come along as well.
"There really are sunken ships?" Although Lana knew that Sean had made his fortune treasure hunting and was now a professional treasure hunter, the fact that Sean had found a sunken ship just like that still seemed almost magical to her.
After all, the sea is vast. How can one possibly pinpoint a sunken ship within such an immense sea territory?
The salvage ship had stopped at the coordinates given by Sean. The staff verified the sunken ship’s location, then several divers went into the water, beginning to gather detailed documents.
Sean took out two golden coins from his pocket and handed them to Lana:
"These were salvaged from below."
"Wow! Such beautiful coins!" Lana happily examined the golden coins.
Indeed, these coins didn’t look like the irregular circular ones that Sean had found previously.
The two golden coins were exquisitely crafted, with the Queen’s portrait on the front and a clear ring of text on the back.
Sean estimated that these golden coins were likely minted specifically for some special purpose.
Now they were a windfall for him.
When the first basket of porcelain was pulled up, Sean knew his part was done here.
He let the salvage ship’s staff operate on their own—after all, most of them were former team members working part-time. There weren’t many relics to salvage near Big Island, so there was no need to keep them idle usually.
So, they simply picked those with expertise from the recruited team members. Normally, they were the action team, and when there was a salvage operation, they became the technician specialists.
Sean drove the yacht, taking Lana to the other sunken ship’s location.
The water here was clear, and the sunken ship could be seen without diving, tempting Lana to want to dive down and see what was inside the ship.
However, as Lana was currently considered a high-priority protection target, Sean did not permit her to dive. Instead, he went down himself and brought up a porcelain plate to hand to Lana.
"Porcelain, huh." Lana was somewhat disappointed.
"How’s the Sea Salvaged Porcelain selling in the marketplace on the island?" Knowing Lana was hoping for more valuable finds, Sean decided to change the topic.
"It’s doing well. Although Sea Salvaged Porcelain comes in large quantities, it wins with its low price and also because it isn’t prohibited goods, so it can be brought back to the country directly. Therefore, many people are willing to buy one or a few pieces," Lana responded, morphing into a businesswoman as she began her analysis.
"This batch of goods should last a few more days," Sean mentioned, "I’ll take another look around and see if I can find a few more sunken ships."
Sean Knight hoped to keep the pickers’ market open long-term, which would require a steady supply of goods.
Now that he had some time to spare, it was a good opportunity to look around here.
Experts say there are at least 2,000 sunken ships in the South Sea Waters, with some saying there could be tens of thousands.
Sunken ships aren’t only found in the South Sea of China; many can be found in the surrounding sea areas of neighboring countries.
After all, this area was an important part of the Maritime Silk Road back in the day, and also a vital corridor for Europe to get gold and silver from the West Coast of America during the Middle Ages.
During his time off, Sean Knight planned to explore this sea territory thoroughly.
In theory, the sea area around Big Island belonged to him, so there shouldn’t be any problems with him conducting detections.
What’s more, with the 052D in hand, not even the islands with residents nearby would dare to cross Sean Knight.
Most of the locals made their living by fishing and weren’t particularly clear about the limits of their maritime territory—unless someone was poaching their fishing grounds.
Sean’s main focus was on salvage and wouldn’t impact their fishing, so even if he did cross the line, it wouldn’t really be a big deal.
Over the next ten days or so, Sean Knight found four more sunken ships, three of which were cargo ships from China heading to nearby ports, and one resembled a Spanish sailboat.
However, the cargo of this sailboat wasn’t as rich as Sean had imagined; it mostly carried weapons and gunpowder, now corroded by seawater beyond recognition.
A small portion of metal utensils was found, mainly bronze ware, with a few pieces of silverware.
Most of the other sunken ships mainly contained porcelain, but one was an armed merchant vessel, and its two cannons came as a pleasant surprise to Sean.
After all, cannons back then were made of copper and quite valuable.
This item, displayed at the pickers’ market, would be a major attraction whether it sold or not.
That was about all for the nearby sea area.
Although Sean felt a touch of regret, he was also satisfied.
During this period, Old Smith from China gave Sean a phone call.
Smith had heard about the research lab Sean set up on the island to study the monster and called to request samples of important parts of the monster, like its brain or reproductive organs.
Last time Old Baker took away some materials, and not long after, Smith sent over the money to Sean.
The payment was swift and straightforward, without any talks of national pride, and though Sean had intended to give them away for free, they wouldn’t take it.
This made Sean respect Old Smith for sticking to his principles.
So, the deal was settled.
Two days later, Old Smith specifically flew to the island, obtaining 100 grams of the monster’s brain tissue and a segment of its whip from Sean.
As for the testicles, those were already sold—unavoidable.
However, Sean also gave Old Smith a piece of the spine as a favor.
Smith also agreed that if there were any research findings, they would be sharable with Sean to a certain extent.
The deal went quite smoothly.
After seeing off Smith, Sean felt it was necessary to visit some busier sea territories—after all, with his special abilities, if he didn’t take the opportunity to obtain more, wouldn’t that be a waste?
After discussing with Lana Brown, although she was somewhat reluctant, she agreed.
Having been accustomed to their frequent comings and goings, she understood that Sean’s efforts were for the greater development of the island.
When Sean left, Douglas Cooper joined him, but he didn’t summon Elijah Hastings or Lincoln Harrington. He decided to give the two of them a long vacation.
Sean’s first destination was set for the Strait of Malacca.
It is one of the world’s busiest sea territories, not to mention the modern era—every year, there are numerous shipwrecks.
The treasures lying there...heh!
