Rogue Alpha's Sweet Trap
Chapter 136: Will You Go With Me?
CHAPTER 136: WILL YOU GO WITH ME?
"Have you ever thought that this was possible... me having the power of the Celestial Wolf?"
As I was taking a bath earlier, all that occupied my mind was how I had the power of the Celestial Wolf. I began to think that Rion must be right, that what we knew from history could be wrong. The Celestial Wolf couldn’t possibly be in deep slumber in the Undersea Tower. People must have believed the wrong story all along.
I thought it could be a dream, just a one-time thing, or a power lent to me by the Goddess only to get my revenge.
But when I felt the power still running through my veins when I woke up, I knew it was etched into my soul now. It didn’t leave, and I doubted it ever would.
It felt mine. It felt like something that had always belonged to me.
"I didn’t," Rion said. "I had always believed the Celestial Wolf was in the Undersea Tower, waiting to be awakened. When I felt our connection, I thought you were just a key." He smirked. "Who would have thought it would turn out like this?"
"You said you could feel the Celestial Wolf’s energy. When you told me about us being fated mates, did you have an..." I swallowed, "idea that I could be her?"
His eyes narrowed, and his smirk was gone now.
"Are you thinking I only told you about the bond because I suspected you were the Celestial Wolf?"
"Just asking."
I was only curious. I wouldn’t blame him if he had acknowledged our bond as fated mates only because I possessed the Celestial Wolf’s power. After all, it was what he had always wanted.
"Do you think I only want you right now because of your power?"
I didn’t answer. I didn’t know what to say. He was my mate now, and there was no undoing that. I wanted him and accepted him. But there were many unanswered questions in my mind. I was confused about so many things. I didn’t know what to think about the sudden changes in my life.
Pain flickered in Rion’s eyes at my silence, but they remained gentle.
He nodded. "Of course you would think that way. But just to be clear, Vivien, I didn’t know about it when I told you we were fated mates. Hell, I couldn’t even care about the Celestial Wolf anymore because all I could think of was you."
"I understand that your mind is a mess right now," he added, his tone patient and kind. "But you have me by your side. You don’t have to drown in your thoughts alone. I’ll help you sort things out. If you want to keep some distance for... some time, well..." He swallowed hard, as if it was a difficult decision for him. "I’ll respect it."
"If the story about the Celestial Wolf in the Undersea Tower isn’t true, why is there a Book of Keys? Where did it come from? Can you tell me now where you found it and how you can feel the Celestial Wolf’s energy?"
Rion nodded. He looked at my plate and said, "I’ll tell you everything I know, but you have to finish your breakfast first."
"How about I eat while you talk?"
"Alright."
He then began.
"I’m from an old clan of werewolves. My clan is a special one, and in the information my ancestors left behind, there were records on how to break the wards of the Undersea Tower and awaken the Celestial Wolf. The Book of Keys came from my ancestors who have long been dead. One of the letters says that a child born with shadows will appear in the family, and he shall awaken the Celestial Wolf. There was no one else in my family with the power of shadows, so I assumed the letter referred to me. I wasn’t interested at first, but I grew curious when I built Undercity."
"Didn’t you find any preserved information about the possibility of the Celestial Wolf appearing through a vessel?"
"No."
"Can you bring me to the Undersea Tower?" I asked, because I had a strong feeling the answers to my questions were there. "The Book of Keys couldn’t have been made just to mislead people. After all, it only appeared in your family, as you’ve said."
After breakfast, we went to the room where the Book of Keys was hidden. I looked through the pages. We already had five of the seven keys.
There were two more. One called Sky’s Wrath, which had only a vague illustration and description, and another called Moon’s Bloom.
"I think we’ll only know the truth once we get inside the Undersea Tower," I said.
It crossed my mind that the keys might not be useful, but I felt a connection with them, similar to what I had felt with the Angel’s Harp. Rion felt it too, which meant these keys weren’t created to mislead people. They had a purpose.
Holding the book, I looked at Rion. That was when I noticed how close we were standing.
I felt his breath on my face, and my cheeks grew warm.
His lips parted slightly as he stared at me.
"The Moon’s Bloom," he said softly. "Raye left because we found a lead on where we can find it. As for the Sky’s Wrath, I didn’t understand it at first, but after yesterday, I realized it must have a connection to you."
He pointed at the description in the book, making me return my gaze to the page.
’When the sky is summoned, it shares its wrath before its master’s silver eyes.’
I gasped, my eyes meeting Rion’s.
"Lightning."
A sweet, sensual smile curved his lips. "Your lightning."
"Will you go with me?" I asked, even though I could already tell from the way he looked at me what his answer would be.
"Anywhere," he said breathily, his gaze lingering on my parted lips.
"Rion..."
The last thread of his patience snapped. He snatched the book out of my hands and pulled me against his body as his kiss blew my mind.
