Run Away After Flirting: Get Lost, Mr. Attorney!
Chapter 122: Iris Lynn Got Assaulted, She Really Deserved It!
CHAPTER 122: CHAPTER 122: IRIS LYNN GOT ASSAULTED, SHE REALLY DESERVED IT!
"Are you jealous?" Ian Sterling noticed she seemed unhappy, sitting alone drinking.
She suddenly laughed, "I’m not unhappy because of him. I just can’t stand that woman and feel like slapping her a couple of times."
She had a hunch that the woman probably saw Elias Spencer sleeping in her guest room. She hoped there was no evidence, otherwise, it would be troublesome.
"Isn’t that jealousy?" Ian said, as the bartender handed him a tall glass. He poured a glass of the red wine she ordered.
"I said I’m not jealous, and I’m not. I just have a grudge against that woman, just can’t stand her." She repeated with displeasure.
"What grudge?" he took a sip of his drink and asked curiously.
"She once stayed at Elias Spencer’s house and threw my dog out," Summer Nolan said.
So that assistant once lived at Elias Spencer’s house? Ian’s eyebrow slightly raised, "Then it’s understandable to dislike her."
"How did you know I was here? Were you following me?" Summer looked at him and asked.
"Summit lost the lawsuit, and the loss was severe this time. I came to have a few drinks because I’m in a bad mood, I wasn’t following you."
He said in a deep voice, pouring himself another drink and downing it in one go.
Summer looked deeply at him, without speaking. Just this small hit to Summit, and he’s already upset? If she ever toppled Summit, how much would he hate her?
She felt a bit guilty toward this man.
"Did Elias Spencer deliberately not come back because he didn’t want to fight this lawsuit for Summit?"
Ian suspected that man saw him as a rival, wanting to see Summit’s downfall and deliberately not handling the case.
"He’s a person who distinguishes between personal and professional matters. Don’t speculate like that. He didn’t make it back in time because he offended someone and got kidnapped. It was hard for him and me to escape."
Summer ’explained’ to him.
"Really?" Ian wasn’t fully convinced.
"Really! If he’s lying to you, would I lie to you?" she insisted confidently.
After watching her for a few seconds, Ian nodded, no longer suspicious. He picked up his glass, took a sip, and asked her, "Summit is preparing to appeal. Do you want to help Summit fight this case?"
Summer almost laughed hearing his question. She had barely managed to strike a blow at Summit, and help them recover?
How could that be possible?
Suppressing the sarcasm in her heart, she said seriously, "I’m not confident about winning this case. The other company’s evidence is too solid, sorry."
"You’re so smart, so capable. You can definitely think of a way to win. Can’t you help me just this once?" Ian asked again, his tone pleading.
"I really can’t guarantee a win. If there was a chance, I would definitely help you." Summer told him.
Seeing her say this, Ian didn’t push further. Could he only turn to Elias Spencer now? Does he even have the confidence to win?
The next afternoon, at the hospital.
Iris Lynn’s body was covered in whip marks. The doctor had already treated her wounds, and now she was lying in a hospital room.
She got drunk on the yacht that night and was grabbed by several men... violated...
After getting off the yacht, they took her to a hotel for more torment. If Elias Spencer hadn’t found her, she didn’t know how much longer she’d be subjected to it!
This was her first time, something she wanted to save for a man she liked, and now it was gone.
She now hated Summer Nolan to death! Not only did she fail to teach her a lesson, but she also failed to break her and Elias Spencer apart, ending up being abused herself—
When Elias Spencer arrived, he happened to see a man on top of her, and for the sake of survival, she didn’t resist. Would he despise her for being ’dirty’?
Iris Lynn felt very miserable inside.
"Focus on recovering in the hospital for now. The firm will cover the expenses." Elias Spencer said to her, standing by the hospital bed, mentioning that the men had been arrested by the police.
"Attorney Spencer... do you despise me for being dirty?" She clutched the white quilt tightly, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at him and asked.
She’s just an assistant. Does it matter whether he despises her or not?
"Of course not."
Does he truly not? Iris could only believe him and asked through tears, "Could you not tell anyone at the firm about this? I don’t want others to know."
"Okay." He responded.
"Thank you for saving me. From now on, my life is yours, and I will definitely repay you!" Iris said, her eyes filled with gratitude.
"Don’t overthink it. You’re an employee of the firm, and since this happened during a firm trip, I came to find you solely in my capacity as your superior." Elias Spencer said in a deep voice, not wanting to be entangled.
Iris looked at him, a perfunctory nod was her response.
She kept this favor in her heart. If it weren’t for him, she would certainly have been tortured to death. Those men even indulged in some substances.
-
After arranging for a caregiver for her, Elias Spencer left the hospital and went to the law firm.
Not wanting Summer Nolan to misunderstand, he went straight to her office. When she looked up from her computer and saw him return, she didn’t speak to him.
"I found Iris Lynn." Elias Spencer said, standing by her side with one hand in his pocket.
"Found her, huh? Then why tell me?" Summer continued typing on the keyboard, speaking with indifference and not looking at him.
"She was kidnapped and assaulted, now she’s in the hospital. I went in my capacity as her superior to find her. We are the leaders of the firm, responsible for our staff.
If I hadn’t gone, and neither you nor Raymond Dawson had gone, if she had died out there, could we evade responsibility?" He explained in a deep voice.
Summer stopped her typing, surprised that the woman had been kidnapped and assaulted?
Could this be karma? Who told her to have so many little schemes and bring this on herself?
"When leaving the tourist area, Director Dawson had already called her. She stayed there of her own free will, so it’s her responsibility for what happened."
"She didn’t want the firm to take responsibility, just didn’t want colleagues to know. As long as you and I know, that’s enough." Elias Spencer knew she didn’t like Iris Lynn and didn’t expect her to be sympathetic.
"Understood." Summer replied blandly with three words. Sympathetic to her? Her heart was cheering to say she deserved it.
Ring ring—
His phone suddenly rang, and he took it out to glance at it before answering, "Hello..."
"Attorney Spencer, where were you yesterday? Why didn’t you show up in court? Do you know how much Summit lost because of this lawsuit?!"
Sean Sterling asked in a deep angry voice. If he wasn’t part of the Spencer family, Sean would have already had someone teach him a lesson.
"Chairman Sterling, even if I had shown up, there’s no guarantee we would have won. Moreover, I missed it because of an accident." Elias Spencer replied calmly.
"What accident?" he asked in a deep voice.
"Ran into some gangsters and got kidnapped," he said.
Sean Sterling couldn’t tell whether he was telling the truth but knew now wasn’t the time to hold him accountable, and sternly said,
"I won’t argue with you about missing the court session. Prepare to appeal, and this time make sure to win the case for me!"
Summer heard the old man’s words and glanced at the man beside her, subtly curling her lips. If he agreed, don’t blame her if she actually kidnapped him next time!
Elias Spencer glanced at her and calmly replied, "Sorry, Chairman Sterling, I’m not confident about winning this case. You’d better hire another lawyer."
