Run Away After Flirting: Get Lost, Mr. Attorney!
Chapter 126: The Little Assistant Dared to Threaten Her?
CHAPTER 126: CHAPTER 126: THE LITTLE ASSISTANT DARED TO THREATEN HER?
Sean Sterling gave her a deep look, having no evidence, he could only give up, then deliberately said,
"I misunderstood you, I’m sorry. So, is Attorney Nolan willing to be Summit’s legal representative? Name your price."
"Chairman Sterling should find Attorney Spencer instead, I have quite a number of cases at hand and might not be able to manage, apologies," she said.
"Those unimportant cases, you can drop them. Summit’s lawyer fees will not be cheap. If she really didn’t have other intentions, would she not take on Summit’s case?"
"But Summit’s case is also difficult to handle. I don’t want to get involved in this mess, Chairman Sterling, please find someone more competent." With that, Summer Nolan left without further ado.
Sean Sterling’s eyes darkened. He was convinced she was up to something! With no background whatsoever, yet daring to be arrogant in his presence?
Evening.
To celebrate successfully teaching Sean Sterling a lesson, Summer Nolan invited her colleagues from the legal firm for drinks at the bar.
In the private room, the employees were chatting away about Sean Sterling, and Julian Rivers, being gossipy, asked the woman beside him,
"Do you think that Sean Sterling really is gay? It’s really hard to tell."
"There are photos and videos, the two were lying in bed without clothes, this can’t be fake, right?" Summer took a sip of red wine and said with a smile, intentionally.
"Tsk tsk... It’s really unbelievable. He usually seems quite masculine and proper," Julian Rivers shook his head.
"Maybe his usual sunny and proper demeanor is just an act? He is, after all, a major entrepreneur in the country and needs to maintain his personal image. Only, it’s unexpected that the paper ultimately couldn’t cover the fire." She laughed, intentionally tarnishing the old man’s image.
"That’s true too," Julian Rivers said, suddenly asking, "What about Elias Spencer? How come he didn’t come for a few drinks tonight?"
"No idea, he left right after work." At the end of the workday, she wanted to ask if he would like to join for drinks, but he left in such a hurry that she didn’t ask.
"Give him a call and ask him to come over," Julian Rivers nudged her.
"You call him yourself."
"He only listens to you now, okay? If I call him, he won’t come out. He’s such a sucker for pretty faces! Just call him." He nudged her again.
Summer Nolan, helpless, took out her phone and dialed Elias Spencer. It only rang once before being answered, just as she was about to speak, Iris Lynn’s voice came through:
"Hello, is this Attorney Nolan? What do you need from Attorney Spencer? He’s in the hospital taking care of me."
Summer suddenly heard Iris Lynn’s words and laughed. He hurried off to take care of his assistant?
In the morning, he told me that Iris Lynn is just an ordinary assistant in his eyes. He’s certainly kind and enthusiastic towards this ’ordinary assistant’!
Why did I even believe his words?
Iris Lynn detected the silence on the other end of the line and smirked mockingly,
"Attorney Nolan, if you have something to tell me, Attorney Spencer went to buy dinner for me himself. I’ll let him know when he returns."
"Nothing." Summer coldly spat out the two words, feeling a bit uncomfortable inside, not wanting to deal with this double-faced man anymore.
Just as she was about to hang up, that woman suddenly threatened:
"By the way, Attorney Nolan, you’d better stay away from Attorney Spencer. The two of you staying in a hotel room together, I saw it. You know our firm’s rules.
Attorney Spencer owns more shares than you do, and every employee favors him more. When the time comes, the one who has to leave can only be you."
Summer’s eyes got a bit cold; that woman indeed saw it, a woman’s intuition is precisely accurate.
She calmed herself and, after a moment of silence, smiled and countered,
"Since you saw everything, with the kind of relationship I have with him, how do you know that the ones leaving won’t be you and Raymond Dawson?
If you have the guts, why not make it public? It might just be the opportunity for Elias Spencer to fire you."
Upon hearing her words, Iris Lynn’s face turned immediately sullen, clutching her phone tightly, intended to threaten her, now got cornered instead—
"Assistant Lynn, I suggest you keep your tail tucked in." After Summer coldly finished speaking, she hung up the phone; who does she think she is trying to threaten me?
There were explosive sounds from the music in the private room, it was noisy, Julian Rivers didn’t hear what the person on the phone said, he only saw her saying something strange and curiously asked,
"Weren’t you calling Elias Spencer? Why did you mention Assistant Lynn?"
"It was Iris Lynn who answered; that man is in the hospital taking care of his assistant and can’t come," Summer intentionally said.
"Why is Elias Spencer in the hospital taking care of his assistant? Has he nothing better to do?"
Julian Rivers’s curiosity was instantly piqued; that man, really, on one hand wanting to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend, on the other hand caring for another woman, what’s the point?
Summer noticed a colleague get up and go to the karaoke machine, deliberately waiting for her to stop the music before loudly saying, "Iris Lynn got gang-raped at the tourist area!"
Instantly, everyone in the private room looked at her in shock, an employee immediately asked, "Attorney Nolan, are you serious?"
"She’s still in the hospital recovering, you guys should visit her if you have time, comfort her, encourage her not to dwell on it too much, and let this incident serve as a reminder not to act recklessly.
When everyone left the area, it was her who didn’t want to get in the car, insisting on staying behind. The consequences are hers alone to bear." Summer sternly reminded them in her leader’s tone.
Everyone sighed in unison, no wonder the woman hadn’t come to the legal firm for several days, but then again, she brought it upon herself, didn’t she?
"That Iris Lynn really got what she deserved," a female employee said with a laugh.
"Exactly, Director Dawson and people from the HR department even called her, warned her, it was her who decided not to get in the car, who else’s fault could that be?"
"Who else can you blame? Only herself!"
Summer glanced at them, picked up her glass, took a sip, and slightly curled the corners of her lips; that woman dared to threaten her, did she think she wouldn’t give her a lesson?
Even personally buying dinner for the assistant?
He’s truly such a kind and considerate boss.
At the hospital.
Elias Spencer purchased a dinner for her in the hospital canteen, she said the caregiver was suddenly unavailable.
"You eat it yourself, I have to leave now." He placed the meal on the bedside cabinet and said.
"By the way, Attorney Spencer, Attorney Nolan called you earlier, I saw your phone ringing, so I answered it for you, I asked if there was anything urgent, but Attorney Nolan said no and hung up."
Iris Lynn, afraid that the woman would say something reckless to him, decided to tell him in advance.
"Who let you answer my phone without permission?" Elias Spencer looked at her angrily.
"I-I was just worried that Attorney Nolan had something urgent to discuss with you, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to..." She looked aggrieved, her eyes misty as she apologized to him.
Elias Spencer looked at her for a moment, took his phone and left the ward. If it weren’t for her pitiful plea that she had no dinner, he wouldn’t have come to the hospital.
"Attorney Spencer..." Iris Lynn frowned and called after him. Did he get mad?
Summer’s phone suddenly rang, she glanced at it, it was Elias Spencer calling. She set her phone to silent mode and ignored it; wasn’t he supposed to be in the hospital taking care of his assistant, what’s he doing contacting me?
She continued playing dice and drinking with her colleagues, laughing and chatting, unaffected by him at all.
After a while, he called again. She kept the phone on the sofa behind her without even a glance.
More than half an hour later, Elias Spencer arrived at the private room, saw her playing dice with colleagues, and went to sit beside her, a colleague asked:
"Attorney Spencer, do you want to join us?"
