Chapter 15: Fine, He’s Not the Only One Who Can Steal!
CHAPTER 15: CHAPTER 15: FINE, HE’S NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN STEAL!
In Julian Rivers’ memory, Summer Nolan has been working at the law firm downstairs for four years, and the two of them have been at odds since she joined, never stopping.
Elias Spencer looked at him sternly, without a word.
Summer Nolan heard his words and gave a dry laugh, "You make a good point..."
So, he and that Iris Lynn are a perfect match.
"By the way, how long did you two date?" he asked curiously again.
Summer Nolan crossed her arms, and after a moment, spat out two words, "...Half a year."
"See, you two weren’t meant to last, breaking up is for the best." Julian Rivers’ mood lifted instantly, they had been broken up for two years, he still had a chance after all.
Summer Nolan silently walked out, taking the bag from Elias Spencer’s hand, glanced at him, and neither said anything.
She went back to the room and changed clothes, putting on a black dress with three-quarter sleeves, round neck, very loose, knee-length, the dress looked rather old-fashioned.
But fortunately, she was attractive and had a good figure, wearing it wasn’t unattractive at all.
Who bought this?
She took her clutch and walked out, "I have something to do, I’ll head out first."
"Hey, wait a minute, I don’t know if Iris Lynn has left or not, maybe I should go down first to check for you, if she sees you, it’ll be hard to explain no matter what you say."
He followed her out, worried that the assistant would go to the firm to report her, but Summer Nolan misunderstood that the assistant was indeed Elias Spencer’s girlfriend, laughing as she said:
"Even Attorney Spencer’s girlfriend is a model girlfriend, not only does she not get angry, but she personally delivers clothes to women."
"She’s just an ordinary assistant, not his girlfriend at all," Julian Rivers said.
Summer Nolan looked shocked!
They have no relationship?
Standing at the door, she couldn’t help but look at Elias Spencer, who was calmly smoking not far away, he didn’t even deny it—
Julian Rivers went downstairs first and indeed saw that assistant in the garden, he knew it, he was so curious, there was no way she wouldn’t be curious too.
Moreover, he had long noticed that Iris Lynn had a crush on this man.
Look at the outfit she bought for Summer Nolan, deliberately bought something so ugly, didn’t she?
The little girl had quite the scheming mind!
-
Summer Nolan’s apartment wasn’t as big as Elias Spencer’s home, only about 160 square meters, warmly decorated, in a mid-to-high-end neighborhood.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw her mother wearing a light blue tight yoga suit, doing yoga on the living room floor while watching TV.
Her mother’s figure and skin were very well maintained, with long, curly hair that looked like they could be sisters, well, all built with her hard-earned money.
Even though she still had a ton of debt, she couldn’t change her mother’s taste for the finer things!
She had to have the best of everything, incredibly vain.
Mrs. Nolan glanced at her daughter’s clothes with disdain, clicking her tongue, "Oh my! Your taste is getting worse! How are you going to snag a rich husband dressed like this?"
"If a man is reliable, even pigs can climb trees." Summer Nolan retorted while changing into slippers at the door.
She never placed her hopes on men, making money and advancing her career, reaching the pinnacle of life was her goal, just like she once loved Elias Spencer to the core, wasn’t it still hard to stay together?
How much did he even like her?
"I think you just have no allure, no man wants you." Mrs. Nolan said, doing a difficult yoga pose, raising her eyebrows.
"I don’t mind if you go snag me a rich step-dad."
"Those vulgar old men, how could they match up to me? Do you mind if I snag a young guy as your step-dad?" she asked, patting her pretty face.
Summer Nolan paused, crossing her arms looking at her mom, only spitting out two words, "You dare!"
She can spend my money alone, but want to bring a young guy to spend together?
"No means no, why so fierce?" Mrs. Nolan pouted, thought for a moment then reminded her:
"Hurry and snag me a rich husband, get me a bigger house, this place is so suffocating, every day I turn this way I bump into something, turn that way and bump again, it’s so annoying!"
"Then just let you live here, I’ll go rent a place." Summer Nolan took the opportunity to tell her mom.
"No, I get scared living alone, you can’t go live elsewhere!" Mrs. Nolan protested excitedly, her younger daughter was still in college, living on campus, it was just the two of them living here.
She would never live alone.
"You’re already in your forties, still scared...how about letting the housekeeper stay here to keep you company?" Summer Nolan thought and said.
"No, I don’t want to live with someone I don’t know well." she refused.
Looking at her pretentious mom, Summer Nolan felt helpless, unable to move out meant she couldn’t live with Elias, had to let him continue living at that man’s house—
She said nothing further and went into the side bedroom, the main bedroom was occupied by her mom’s nouveau riche tastes.
"Did you go to a hotel for socializing again last night?" Mrs. Nolan came to the door to ask.
Summer Nolan first charged her phone that was shut off, then opened the laptop on the desk, quickly typing contracts, responding without lifting her head:
"...Hm."
"You better stay at hotels less in the future, it’s not safe for a girl." she reminded again.
"Got it, go do your yoga." Summer Nolan buried her head in work in front of the desk.
Suddenly remembered her car was still at the suburban hotel, picked up the phone and called her assistant, asking her to drive the car back now.
The next morning.
Summer Nolan received a call from a boss she met at a banquet, who said he had a lawsuit he wanted her to handle, the two arranged to have dinner and talk in the evening.
But when she called before getting off work, the boss actually said:
"I’m sorry Attorney Nolan, you’re too busy, I won’t trouble you, I’ve already signed with Attorney Spencer."
Summer Nolan blinked in astonishment, looking at the cold man across still focused on the document, she laughed in exasperation—
When did he sneakily contact Mr. Lewis?
And when did he go to sign?
Summer Nolan stood up, went to the man opposite, rested one hand on the conference table, the other on his shoulder, with a sycophantic smile:
"Haha, Attorney Spencer is really quick at snatching clients..."
Leaned back in his chair, Elias Spencer lit a cigarette from the side, smoke drifted over his frameless glasses, slowly turned to look at her, a slight smile at the corners of his lips.
"Thank you for the compliment." he said infuriatingly.
Summer Nolan was annoyed just looking at his expression—so annoying, wanting to teach him a lesson every day.
Elias Spencer stood up, looked down at her and kindly reminded:
"Perhaps Attorney Nolan should learn to behave a bit, know who to keep a distance from, what to do and what not to, otherwise, I’m afraid you won’t last long in this firm."
He still didn’t know if she was in cahoots with the old fox Raymond Dawson.
This law firm held special significance to him, he had to protect it.
Summer Nolan heard his warning and laughed—this was his reason for stealing her client? Didn’t want her to grow strong in the firm?
Fine, fine, he’s not the only one who can snatch.
Her finger fell on his belt, hooked it, and suddenly pulled him closer:
"Behaving for you is impossible, but what I want to do has nothing to do with you, better not meddle."
Nothing to do with me? She’s not in cahoots with Raymond Dawson?
"What is your true purpose of joining the firm?"
