CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: DAMN, NOT A SINGLE SONG IS A GOOD ONE!

"Pour me another drink." Summer Nolan removed his hand, wanting to drink herself into oblivion; if she was drunk, she wouldn’t care who was in front of her.

"Alright." The man filled her glass over halfway, only pouring a little for himself, as he still had business to attend to and couldn’t get drunk.

After downing his drink, he asked, "Sister...should we head to the hotel now?"

"Alright, let’s go." Summer Nolan put down her glass, slightly tipsy as she stood up, thinking there’d be more time to drink at the hotel and she needed to hurry since she had work tomorrow.

If they were late, someone might accuse her of taking money without doing anything.

"You’re leaving so soon?" Miles Monroe looked at her with an exasperated expression, wondering how awkward it’d be for him to stay on.

"Mm, you can call other friends to hang out." She waved at her male best friend and left with the handsome guy.

The luxurious hotel was right next to the clubhouse; getting there and booking a room took less than ten minutes!

Once in the hotel room, the handsome guy, eyeing the client who was both beautiful in looks and figure, couldn’t wait and asked, "Sister, shall we shower together?"

"You go first, and make sure to clean up well." Summer Nolan had a slight phobia of uncleanliness.

"...Alright then." He resigned himself to the bathroom.

Only a few minutes after the man entered, there were sudden knocks on the room’s door: "Knock knock...knock knock..."

Summer Nolan, unable to find wine in the hotel room and mentally preparing herself, was startled by the knocks and went to open the door, only to be met with a man in a stern police uniform!

Damn!

Could she really be unlucky enough to run into an anti-prostitution raid?

Even as a somewhat famous lawyer, getting caught in a prostitution ring and taken to the police station would tarnish her reputation beyond repair.

The worst part was, she was quite familiar with the people at the police station—her previous encounters with them were during lawsuits, under serious, upright conditions!

Now...

How would she face them in the future? It was incredibly humiliating!

The thought made Summer Nolan want to cry.

She swallowed hard, cleared her throat, and forced a calm smile in greeting, "...Hello, Officer Spencer, what brings you here so late?"

"Anti-prostitution raid."

Officer Spencer stated plainly, pushing the door open and entering the hotel room with two other officers, surveyed the room, and zeroed in on the closed bathroom door. He asked her:

"Attorney Nolan, you’re not here engaging in those common acts, are you?"

Summer Nolan gave a strained smile, wanting to say she was also an ordinary person and not some saintly savior—she just wanted to address some physical needs, was that a crime?

"Heh...of course I’m not that kind of person, I’m just here to see a friend." She smiled calmly and lied.

"So who is the person showering in the bathroom? What’s your relationship?" Officer Spencer asked seriously, hearing the water running inside.

"That’s...a distant relative, my young cousin. He’s from a poor family and came to this city seeking my help. I haven’t found him a place yet, so I brought him here for a room."

She quickly concocted an explanation, her mind working faster than during a courtroom debate, uncertain if the man inside the bathroom heard her or not.

She hoped he wouldn’t contradict her story.

Officer Spencer gave her a look, remained silent, and knocked on the bathroom door sternly, "Come out quickly! Hurry up!"

The man inside, thinking the knocks were from his sister growing impatient, quickly turned off the water and walked to the door without anything around his waist.

He opened the door, was startled to see the officers, and quickly used his hands to cover himself, his face turning deathly pale.

Summer Nolan awkwardly turned her face away, desperately wishing to disappear into a hole—she was doomed.

Officer Spencer looked at her, grinning, and asked, "Attorney Nolan, your cousin seems quite uninhibited, appearing naked in front of you?"

"Ahem, he didn’t know I came..." she weakly tried to explain.

"Attorney Nolan, this hotel is monitored everywhere, and you should know the consequences of lying to the police more than anyone else," he reminded her in a deep voice, then looked back at the naked man and asked sternly,

"Do you know her name? What’s your real relationship? You better be honest!"

The young man, frightened by the police, lost strength in his legs—he didn’t even know her name—and trembling all over, confessed everything,

"I-I’m a server at the White Horse Clubhouse next door, this sister seduced me and wanted to book a room with me! Officer, I’m the one being solicited..."

Officer Spencer gave Summer Nolan a long look, amusement hidden in his gaze, and asked deliberately, "Attorney Nolan, what he said seems different from your story?"

Summer Nolan held her brow, seriously wishing to disappear, urging, "What are you waiting for? Let’s get on with the process, it’s already very late."

With that, she quickly walked out.

Arriving at the police station, it was almost one in the morning.

The officers on duty recognized her and greeted, "Attorney Nolan, why are you here so late? No clients of yours tonight, right?"

At a loss for words, Officer Spencer helpfully replied, "She’s here for soliciting a man."

The other officers, utterly stunned, just stared at her in shock, speechless for a moment—her, soliciting a man?

Looking at her, she didn’t seem like the type to do such things!

So pretty, and with a good career, she can’t find a proper boyfriend?

Summer Nolan turned to smile at the Spencer named officer, secretly grinding her teeth—thanks a lot!!!

Why is there never a good Spencer?!

She and the man were taken to separate interrogation rooms, her first time in the interrogated position. Leaning back in her chair, she felt awkward, embarrassed but maintained composure—

Officer Spencer personally came to interrogate her, sitting opposite and asked, "Tell me, why solicit?"

"To meet my physical needs." She admitted her guilt, only wanting to leave as quickly as possible, knowing that talking back would earn her ten to fifteen days of detention.

"No boyfriend?" he asked again.

"What does that have to do with it?" she countered.

"It does." Officer Spencer replied curtly.

"If I had a boyfriend, would I go to such places for men?" She raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile.

"Attorney Nolan, watch your attitude! How many times?" He heavily tapped his fingers on the table, sternly watching her as he asked again.

"First time..." Summer Nolan raised her hand to her forehead, inwardly trampled by galloping horses, never having been more humiliated—

Ugh, she swore never to randomly go to a hotel with a man again.

Even to meet physical needs, she could bring them home instead, much safer than a hotel.

"What’s your family’s phone number?" he asked again.

Summer Nolan thought about it. If she called her mom to pay the fine, she’d be mocked for life and constantly teased!

Her mom already often told her no man would want her; this incident would only confirm that she sought out men at a clubhouse because no one wanted her.

No, she couldn’t let her mom come!

She gave Miles’ number, but Officer Spencer said it was turned off when dialed.

Summer Nolan clenched her teeth in frustration—how could that wretched guy have his phone off at such a crucial moment?

With no other choice, she provided another acquaintance’s number: "1388..."
