CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: WHY IS ATTORNEY SPENCER FOLLOWING ME?

Elias Spencer walked into his office, glancing under the desk.

The bookshelf behind him had glass doors, making everything inside visible at a glance; there was no other place to hide anyone.

He was sure he had seen her enter the firm, so where had she gone?

He took out the key and opened the bottom drawer of the desk, where all the important documents were kept, including evidence for Mr. Lewis’s case.

Nothing was missing.

"She didn’t come to steal?"

"Where did she go?"

Elias Spencer locked the documents back in the drawer. As soon as he stepped out of his office, the door across the hall suddenly swung open!

His gaze landed on the woman...

The two of them stood stunned, looking at each other.

Summer Nolan: Wasn’t he drunk, asleep in the private room? How did he suddenly end up here?

Elias Spencer: How did she come out of the old fox’s office? What did she do in there?

"Attorney Spencer, sobering up so quickly?" She smiled calmly, walking out and subtly locking the office door.

Elias Spencer did not answer her but countered with, "What were you sneaking around Director Dawson’s office for?"

"Director Dawson mentioned he might have forgotten to turn off his computer yesterday and asked me to come help," she said, walking over with a natural and relaxed expression, lying smoothly.

"Is that so?" He replied perfunctorily. Whether she was telling the truth or not, he’d only need to test that old fox to find out.

"Why did you suddenly come over?"

Summer Nolan approached him, one hand hooking around his neck, the other lightly brushing the collar of his slightly open white shirt, employing her charm unnoticed,

"Could it be that you were pretending to be drunk, following me here?"

"Why would Attorney Spencer follow me? You never trusted me—" she feigned disappointment with a smile, determined not to let him confront the old fox with questions.

If Raymond Dawson found out she had sneaked into his office, he would undoubtedly suspect her.

She couldn’t let this man ruin her plan.

Elias Spencer felt a tickle in his chest, shaking off her hand, and seriously asked, "Is there something you’re hiding from me?"

"No, and even if there was, it wouldn’t concern you, my ex-boyfriend." She smiled faintly, as they were now merely colleagues.

Those who had harmed her father, she would deal with them herself, one by one; it had nothing to do with this outsider.

Elias Spencer gazed deeply at her, unable to see through this woman. He thought she was there to steal his evidence but instead found her in Raymond Dawson’s office.

Was it possible that she realized she was being followed, so she entered Raymond Dawson’s office?

Or did she have a grudge against Raymond Dawson, snooping around him?

"Ring ring—" His phone suddenly rang. He took a look and found it was his assistant, answering it: "What’s the matter?"

"Whimper... Attorney Spencer, can you come to rescue me? I’m so scared... Please save me, okay?" Iris Lynn asked, trembling with a sob.

"What happened?" Elias Spencer asked.

"My parents forced me to marry a stranger. When we met today, he actually took me to a hotel...," she cried.

"Which hotel and which room?" Regardless, this assistant had followed him for two years. Since she called him for help, he couldn’t just ignore it.

"Hilton, room 2020. Attorney Spencer, please hurry. I’m in the bathroom now, and he’s blocking the way outside. I’m so scared," she cried.

"Alright." Elias Spencer replied gravely before hanging up the call, saying nothing more to Summer Nolan, and quickly left, closing the office door behind him.

Summer Nolan watched him, seeing his nervous and concerned demeanor. He must be really fond of that assistant, she thought, feeling inexplicably displeased. She raised her hand to pat her head.

She had to leave and quickly return the keys to Raymond Dawson, ensuring he wouldn’t suspect anything.

More than ten minutes later, Elias Spencer arrived at the door of room 2020 at the Hilton Hotel.

He knocked on the door forcefully, increasing the strength with each knock: "Bang bang bang!!!"

The door suddenly swung open, revealing a young man standing there, wrapped only in a white towel, impatiently asking, "Who are you? Are you crazy, knocking..."

Before the man could finish, Elias Spencer kicked him, sending him flying heavily onto the floor inside the room with a "thud!"

"Who the hell are you? Do you know who I am?" the man angrily shouted, clutching his chest.

Elias Spencer glared at him with a cold piercing stare, silencing the man immediately, not daring to utter another word.

Seeing him finally arrive, Iris Lynn, disheveled, scrambled up from the bed, rushing into his arms, crying and wrapping her arms tightly around his waist, sobbing continuously.

The straps of her white dress were ripped beyond recognition, one shoulder strap broken, revealing the white bra and her snowy chest beneath.

Her hair was disheveled, one side of her face swollen, blood at the corner of her mouth. Elias Spencer’s gaze shifted away from her, taking off his jacket to drape it over her, then coldly asking,

"Did he... assault you?"

Iris Lynn quickly shook her head, sobbing, "Thank goodness you came in time..."

"Let’s go. I’ll take you home." He said.

The man on the floor suddenly shouted in displeasure, "You bitch, Iris Lynn. You were the one who seduced me and hinted at coming to the hotel. Why put on an act?!"

"I didn’t..." Iris Lynn cried, immediately rebutting, nervously looking at the man beside her, "Attorney Spencer, I didn’t, he’s slandering me."

"Ignore him, let’s go." Elias Spencer didn’t care about the events between them; it had nothing to do with him anyway.

As they passed through the hotel lobby, numerous people glanced over. Iris Lynn stumbled, suddenly falling to the ground!

In an instant, more people were scrutinizing her.

With her head lowered, Iris Lynn didn’t get up, lying on the floor, pitifully whimpering quietly.

Elias Spencer stopped, frowning, and had no choice but to pick her up from the floor, quickly walking out of the lobby. She secretly glanced at this aloof man, her heart pounding in her chest...

This was the first time he had carried her.

His cool fragrance smelled so good. She never dared imagine this distant flower on a high mountain would actively hold her.

Her father was just a truck driver, her mother unemployed, her hometown a remote mountain village far away. If she could marry a wealthy and handsome man like Attorney Spencer, she could escape that disgusting impoverished family—

When they reached the car, the bodyguard immediately got out and opened the rear door. Elias Spencer had been drinking that afternoon and had called for a bodyguard to drive.

After placing her onto the back seat, Elias Spencer patted the dust off his clothes, uncomfortable with the scent of others on him, and coldly asked:

"Where do you live?"

"I’m afraid to go home now; my parents will definitely send me back to that thug," she said, crying without daring to look at him.

"Then I’ll take you to another hotel." After saying this to her, Elias Spencer walked around the front of the car, sat in the back seat, crossed his legs, and instructed the bodyguard in the front,

"Take us to a nearby hotel."

"Yes, sir." The bodyguard acknowledged, and the car drove away.

Iris Lynn slightly furrowed her brows—she had thought Attorney Spencer would let her stay at his place temporarily.
