CHAPTER 4: CHAPTER 4: IS THE CHILD REALLY ATTORNEY SPENCER’S?

A colleague put down the bottle, glanced at Attorney Nolan and Attorney Spencer across the room, and didn’t dare to ask in public, immediately pulling a close colleague to leave the private room.

Once in the restroom, she was so excited she clutched her chest, gasping for breath, feeling conflicted about whether to speak up.

Suddenly learning such an earth-shattering secret, if she didn’t share it, she felt she’d surely explode!

The colleague looked at her like this and asked with a laugh, "Why did you suddenly drag me here?"

"Do you know what I just heard Attorney Nolan say to Attorney Spencer?"

"Aren’t they arch-enemies? What could they possibly say?" she laughed.

"Attorney Nolan asked Attorney Spencer who picked up the daughter from school and whether she obediently had dinner!"

The female colleague was so shocked by her words that her eyes almost popped out, and her mouth gaped wide enough to fit an egg, stuttering:

"Did you hear it clearly? You can’t spread this kind of rumor!"

"Our law firm has rules prohibiting office romances. If this reaches Director Dawson, one of Attorney Nolan or Attorney Spencer will definitely have to leave."

This rule was personally set by Attorney Spencer a long time ago.

Suddenly, the restroom door was pushed open, and Iris Lynn, who overheard them outside, immediately pushed the door open and walked in,

"Did you really hear that Summer Nolan has a child?"

"...Yes." The colleague glanced at her and could only nod.

"Even if she has a child, it can’t possibly be Spencer’s..." Iris clenched her fist, warning in disbelief,

"You’d better not spread rumors about Attorney Spencer; he wouldn’t like that Summer Nolan! How could that woman possibly be worthy of Spencer?"

"I heard it with my own ears," the female colleague said with a pout, somewhat disliking this woman who acted high and mighty in the law firm just because she was Spencer’s assistant.

"Why don’t you go and ask him yourself now?" Iris folded her arms and mocked.

The female colleague immediately fell silent. She didn’t dare to ask in public, as this would offend two bosses——

"Hmph, even if that woman really has a child, she must have secretively had it on a whim. Have you heard about her being in a relationship?

Heard about her being married?

She’s so famous, who knows how many bosses she’s slept with.

And yet, who knows which random man that child belongs to?" Iris disdainfully told them.

The two glanced at her and said nothing, not daring to speak ill of the new boss.

This woman’s infatuation with Spencer couldn’t be more obvious——

The next morning.

The rumor about them having a child quietly spread within the law firm, and Elias Spencer overheard it when he went to the break room to make coffee.

"What were you just talking about?" His sharp eyes looked at them as he asked.

"Nothing, nothing," a few employees immediately lowered their heads, trembling with fear, not daring to gossip in front of Attorney Spencer or without evidence.

"Spread rumors and gossip in the firm, and you’ll be fired," Elias Spencer coldly warned them, and after responding, they immediately left the break room.

Summer Nolan had just finished a call with a client in her office when the landline rang again—it was Elias Spencer.

He said there was something very important and asked her to come over.

"Next time there’s something important, could Attorney Spencer please make the trip to my office? I’m not your subordinate!"

Summer Nolan strutted over in her eight-centimeter heels, her black pencil skirt highlighting her sharp silhouette, walked briskly to his side, grabbed the armrest of his chair, swiveling it towards her, and plopped down onto his lap.

Grabbing his tie, she playfully smacked him, speaking in a cold tone.

She just loved to tease this cool, collected man because she found him annoying, and no other method could get to him.

She could only tease him, toy with him.

Hmph, he ignored her last night, pretending to be aloof, today I’ll sort him out!

Elias Spencer watched as the woman comfortably sat in his lap, his brows slightly furrowing—he pushed her away, coldly reminding:

"Attorney Nolan, this is a law firm."

Summer Nolan smirked mischievously, using his tie to loop around his neck and suddenly pulled him closer, "It’s more exciting in a law firm."

"Are you getting up or not?" he asked as he looked at this woman.

"Don’t waste words, get to the point, I’m very busy, or I’ll leave." She impatiently urged.

In this lifetime, Elias Spencer couldn’t do anything about this woman, she was impervious, a rival, and yet she was also his nemesis——

"What you said last night was overheard by the staff, find a chance to clarify a few words to prevent them from spreading rumors, affecting the firm’s regulations," he said sternly.

"Were they really overheard?" she asked.

Elias Spencer lit a cigarette, giving her a "what do you think" look——

Summer Nolan’s eyes deepened slightly; if she clarified, wouldn’t Director Dawson also find out she had dated this man?

At last night’s party, Director Dawson left after a few drinks, luckily he left early.

She hadn’t even begun to seek revenge yet, she couldn’t let him distrust her.

He knew she and Elias Spencer were arch-enemies and specifically brought her in to counter Elias Spencer, yet that old fool didn’t know she was here for him!

"If they knew we had dated, wouldn’t the entire legal world be in an uproar? What’s there to clarify?"

"Knock knock——" The office door suddenly knocked.

Elias Spencer immediately pushed the woman off his lap, purposefully pressing her under the desk to give her a lesson, wasn’t she the one who liked excitement?

"Come in," he calmly uttered two words.

Summer Nolan was annoyed, this was the first time she crawled under a desk——

Just as she was about to climb out, a large hand pressed her head down, pushing her back! What was this man doing, pressing me under the desk?

Did he do it on purpose?

They were currently colleagues, what was there to hide?

The office door opened, and Iris Lynn walked in with documents, scanning the office in surprise, she clearly saw a woman enter, but where was she?

"Attorney Spencer, these are the documents sent by Mr. Wright, please have a look..." she handed them over.

As soon as Elias Spencer received them, Summer Nolan suddenly pinched his inner thigh under the desk! The nerves there were most sensitive, and it was the most painful.

She never bore inner grudges, usually, if she had a grudge, she would settle it on the spot.

"Hiss..." The unprepared Elias Spencer involuntarily inhaled sharply, frowning tightly, gritting his teeth.

"Attorney Spencer, what’s wrong with you?" Iris asked, seeing him suddenly inhaling, puzzled.

"Nothing, you can leave now," he dismissed sternly.

"Yes..." she responded respectfully and glanced back when she reached the door, always feeling like that woman was in his office.

Who was that woman?

Attorney Spencer disliked her so much, it definitely couldn’t be Summer Nolan, yesterday, they were so close, it must be Summer Nolan seducing him.
