Run Away After Flirting: Get Lost, Mr. Attorney!
Chapter 53: Forgot We Slept Together? Innocent?
CHAPTER 53: CHAPTER 53: FORGOT WE SLEPT TOGETHER? INNOCENT?
This woman is so good at lawyering, she shouldn’t be short on cash, right?
Ian Sterling pulled out a check and slid it over. She picked it up, glanced at it, and sneered, "Only ten million? Someone of Mr. Sterling’s status would go back on his word?"
"I did promise a hundred million, but I never said it would be all at once. I just returned to the country, and I don’t have many friends. How about this, if Attorney Nolan keeps me company once, I’ll pay once?" he said, looking at her.
"Aren’t you friends with Attorney Spencer? You both set a date for drinks at the company."
She crossed her legs, leaning lazily against the sofa back, and took a few sips of lemon water.
Ian Sterling watched her, finding her relaxed demeanor completely different from the pretentious women around him. With her, he felt no aversion or disgust at all.
The women who wanted to marry into the Sterling Family often used various tactics in front of him, making him dislike all women.
Yet, he was ignored by the woman right in front of him.
"Is Attorney Nolan not interested in the remaining ninety million?" he retorted.
"Sigh... All businessmen are the same." Summer Nolan sighed. She thought he was more generous than his father, but he was just as calculating.
Ian Sterling was both amused and helpless to be called a cunning businessman by a woman for the first time——
Then she suddenly realized that this man was Ian Sterling’s son, with great potential value! If she could befriend him, maybe he would reveal the real accounts.
With excitement, she finally found a breakthrough——
"What is Attorney Nolan thinking about?" Ian saw her deep gaze and dazed look, and couldn’t understand.
She leaned forward, propping her chin up with one hand, a seductive smile playing on her lips, "Wondering why you want me to accompany you?"
"I don’t like women who are pretentious, scheming, or manipulative. Conveniently, Attorney Nolan is none of those," he said, looking at this bright woman.
Summer Nolan heard him and her smile grew even deeper; was she not a scheming, manipulative woman?
That was just great.
He had a very good impression of her.
"Well, thank you for the compliment, Mr. Sterling."
Outside the window, a man in a black luxury car watched the two of them chatting animatedly in the restaurant, the cigarette between his fingers tightening, his cold eyes deep.
He took a deep drag, blew out a thick cloud of smoke which slowly drifted out of the car window.
Was she after Ian Sterling for his money and wanted to marry into a wealthy family? Or was she smitten with him at first sight?
The bodyguard sitting in the car with him found the cramped space stifling, glanced at the western-style restaurant, and cautiously asked:
"Young Master Spencer, should we find an excuse to call Miss Nolan out?"
"Why call her? Who is she to me, what does she have to do with me? Let her do what she wants, let’s go." Elias Spencer ordered coldly.
The bodyguard looked at him through the rearview mirror—was Young Master Spencer serious?
In the restaurant, the waiter served their dishes one by one. Ian Sterling very gentlemanly cut the steak on his plate and handed it to her, "This is for you..."
Summer Nolan originally wanted to refuse, she could cut it herself, after all. But to befriend him quickly and gain his trust, she gratefully accepted it and said in a friendly manner,
"Thanks, I didn’t expect you to be so nice."
"Weren’t you cold and sarcastic, rolling your eyes at me just yesterday? Changed your opinion of me so quickly?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he took her plate.
"Do you have a masochistic streak?" She realized that this man had a bit of a masochistic tendency; the worse you treated him, the more interested he became.
Looks like she shouldn’t go along with him too much, nor be too nice to him.
-
In the afternoon at work, Summer Nolan noticed that Renowned Attorney Spencer was a bit chilly, not speaking to her, acting like he was jealous.
She was probably overthinking it.
He liked Iris Lynn, so why would he be jealous of her?
Seeing his cup was empty, she took the initiative to pour him a glass of water and placed it to his right-hand side, reminding him,
"You’ve been working for hours, take a break so your hand doesn’t hurt tonight."
Elias Spencer turned his head to look at her indifferently, then continued his work without a word——
"Why is Attorney Spencer upset?" she asked with a smile, leaning against the nearby conference table, arms crossed.
"What makes you think I’m upset?"
He said coldly, picking up a cigarette from nearby, biting on it only to have Summer Nolan take it away suddenly:
"You still haven’t fully recovered from your cold, smoke less."
His voice was still a bit hoarse; she didn’t want him to be sick because of her, which made her feel quite guilty.
Elias Spencer turned his head to look at her, chuckling softly, "You care about me so much, aren’t you afraid Ian Sterling will know?"
Was he probing the nature of her relationship with Ian Sterling? Summer Nolan smiled slyly, intentionally vague:
"What we have is pure, we haven’t done anything."
Elias Spencer stood up, leaned closer to her ear, and coldly asked, "Forgot we slept together? Pure?"
Summer Nolan frowned, recalling that night... She raised her hand and smacked his shoulder, "It’s good I haven’t asked you for an explanation yet, dare you mention it again?"
If Ian knew, his impression of her would surely plummet, so how could she use him?
"Depends on my mood," Elias Spencer indifferently muttered.
She suddenly grabbed his light grey tie, warning, "You can’t mention what happened between us in front of Ian, or I’m going to be seriously mad."
Did she care about that man so much? Elias Spencer’s eyes under his glasses turned even colder——
"Ha... Do you really like him?"
"It’s none of your business whether I like him or not. We’ve been broken up for more than two years, and don’t you have someone you like now? I haven’t interfered with your new relationship," Summer Nolan said seriously.
Elias Spencer suddenly placed one hand on her slender waist, squeezing her chin tightly in the other, speaking in a deep voice,
"You haven’t interfered, but you’ve been flirting with me, Attorney Nolan is always teasing me, what is that?"
She pressed her hands against his solid chest, glanced at the door, once wary of other employees seeing them, and now afraid Ian might suddenly walk in. She chuckled,
"I’ve just been messing with you, joking around, where’s the teasing in that?"
Elias Spencer heard her words, his aura became icy, suddenly pinning her down on the conference table,
"Messing with me? I’m no one you can play with anytime you want and then just stop playing!"
Summer Nolan was pinned, losing her momentum, and indeed feeling guilty; she used to always tease him——
"I won’t play with you anymore, promise not to touch you anymore, okay?" she smiled and negotiated.
Now she had serious business for revenge; he better not stir trouble in the back.
Elias Spencer, hearing her words, tightened his grip on her hand, his gaze like icy shards.
"You brute, you’re hurting me... can’t you be gentler?" she twisted her hand, frowning.
