Chapter 1219: Chapter 1219: Three Demands (Part 1)
The group went upstairs and arrived outside the conference room on the third floor, with Barton leading the way inside.
Gan Yuan and Huangfu Jue also followed into the conference room, and the Northwest officials trailing the three of them followed in as well.
Inside the conference room, there was a long table with only two chairs at its sides.
General Barton sat in the main seat and gestured with his chin toward the chair opposite.
“Princess, please!”
Huangfu Jue walked over, pulled out the chair for Gan Yuan, and Gan Yuan elegantly took her seat, with Huangfu Jue and Abel standing on either side of her.
Gan Yuan glanced at the people standing behind General Barton and spoke calmly.
“Shall we begin?”
“Of course, we can start anytime.”
General Barton lazily leaned back against the high chair’s backrest, lifted his chin slightly, and his assistant immediately took a file from the folder and walked over to place it in front of Gan Yuan.
Staring across the long table at Gan Yuan, General Barton spoke arrogantly.
“These are my conditions. As long as you sign your name at the end, our negotiation can be concluded.”
Gan Yuan glanced at the file on the table, reached out to pick it up, and opened it to carefully read the content line by line.
Seeing phrases such as “relinquish national sovereignty,” “hand over all military power to General Barton”… she merely raised the corner of her lips lightly in calmness.
Such content was already within her expectations.
Meticulously, she flipped through the document from beginning to end, gently closed the file in her hands, and casually tossed it back onto the table.
“I think General Barton must have made a mistake. I won’t agree to a single clause in this document. In fact, quite the opposite.” She placed both hands on the table, “Now, let me state my conditions. First, I demand you release all the families of the generals present, allowing them to reunite with their families back home.”
That damned girl, trying to incite departure here!
General Barton raised an eyebrow, then burst out laughing.
“Princess, you seem to have misunderstood as well. The reason I brought their families to my General Residence was merely to ensure their safety, lest your army’s shells accidentally harm my loyal subordinates and their families.”
Gan Yuan raised both hands and clapped loudly in the air.
“Brilliant! What an excellent excuse.” She spread her hands, her gaze slowly sweeping over those present, “Do you take everyone for fools? If I were to truly attack, the General Residence would be the first place I’d want to level. Protection? What a joke! Barton, if you don’t even trust your own confidants, what loyalty can you talk about?”
These words hit right at the heart of those present.
Their families being captured, everyone was extremely angry in their hearts, only holding back because they feared General Barton.
“Shut up!” General Barton’s expression changed, and he shouted angrily, “I don’t need you in my matters. Now, it’s me who is negotiating with you!”
“Alright!” Gan Yuan’s eyes flashed with a smile, “Then let’s continue negotiating. Second…” She raised her hand and pointed out the window, “I demand you immediately release all civilians, allowing them to return home, wherever they wish to go, and not to harm a single one of my people!”
General Barton smiled without speaking.
“Third!” Gan Yuan ignored him and continued stating her third condition, “Now, you will unconditionally surrender to me, with or without belief, to have all your troops lay down their weapons and hand over control of the Northwest.”
