Running A Cemetery in North America
Chapter 41: Terror in the Hospital Ward
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41: TERROR IN THE HOSPITAL WARD
Seeing himself now in this ghostly state, Chen Xing knew absolutely that the situation was dire, even if he were foolish.
Under Sun Yan’s probing questions, he finally slowly revealed what he had previously concealed from Sun Yan.
It turned out that a few months ago, he went on a trip to Southeast Asia, where he met a young girl named Hui Fang, and with sweet words, he had a relationship with her.
Chen Xing had mentioned these matters to Sun Yan before, but he concealed the fact that he sought excitement by persuading Hui Fang to go unprotected during the process.
Just after Chen Xing left Southeast Asia and returned to North America for a while, he received a letter from Hui Fang.
The letter mentioned that Hui Fang discovered she was pregnant with Chen Xing’s child and hoped Chen Xing could come back to her to support the birth of the child.
When Chen Xing coaxed Hui Fang into bed, he vowed that he would marry her as his wife, otherwise, he swore to suffer an agonizing death.
Having been fatherless and motherless since childhood, Hui Fang wanted Chen Xing to return to Thailand to discuss marriage.
But she was still too naive; living the high life in North America, in a luxury apartment and driving a Ferrari, Chen Xing treated her as just a fling, and never intended to marry a country girl from Southeast Asia, so naturally, there was no follow-up to this matter, and the letter was burned by Chen Xing.
"Sun, please save me, I don’t want to die." Chen Xing begged, regretfully grasping Sun Yan’s wrist, in great pain.
Sun Yan sighed deeply with a solemn face, "You really don’t know how to write the word ’death.’ Black Magic first for wealth, second for love. For wealth, there might still be a chance of survival, but for love, it’s a vendetta aimed at your life after being wronged. If you had told the truth when I removed the Black Magic for you, maybe I could have protected you a little longer. But now you’re already gravely ill; unless an immortal descends, you’re doomed."
"No, Sun, help me, you must have a way, right? I can give you money, a hundred thousand US dollars, two hundred thousand! Whatever you want, I can give you my whole fortune," Chen Xing shouted in extreme fear, dark blood spattering from his mouth. With just a slight force, a few of his teeth loosened and fell, a truly miserable sight.
Standing beside, even Chief Raymond couldn’t help but frown, a wave of nausea rising in his stomach.
"I can only say I’ll do my best to help you try. First, tell me, after leaving the graveyard, who have you been in contact with these days? Any strangers, particularly Asians?" Sun Yan agreed perfunctorily, then asked the question he cared about the most.
The enemy was in the dark, while they were in the open. To destroy the Black Magic Master, Sun Yan needed to know the opponent’s situation.
"No, after leaving the graveyard I went straight home, hid in the apartment every day, never went out, meals were all delivery... I think there was once the deliveryman was Asian."
Upon hearing Chen Xing’s answer, Sun Yan’s eyes immediately lit up, "Which delivery service? Do you remember what that deliveryman looked like? Quick, tell me!"
"He..."
Just as Chen Xing was about to explain, his expression suddenly changed dramatically. He widened his eyes in pain and sat up from the hospital bed, bending over and starting to retch.
A large amount of yellow liquid mingled with countless maggots vomited out in torrents, causing Sun Yan to quickly step back several paces to maintain a safe distance from Chen Xing.
"Mr. Jackson, what exactly is wrong with this person?" Raymond urgently asked, covering his nose.
Even wearing a mask, the sour stench still penetrated his nasal cavity.
Chen Xing, now vomiting, flipped over and tumbled off the hospital bed, his hands crazily scratching at his own abdomen.
Under the watchful eyes of Sun Yan and Raymond, Chen Xing’s abdomen slowly swelled, gradually bulging into a shape similar to a heavily pregnant woman, even showing stretch mark-like lines on the skin due to being stretched too far.
"Ahhhh!!!"
Completely overwhelmed and his mind in pieces, Chen Xing clawed at his abdomen with such ferocity that eventually it had shredded, leaving it a bloody mess, a truly grizzly scene.
"Doctor!" Only then did Raymond react, hastily shouting for the doctors outside to come in and administer a sedative to the suspect.
Otherwise, if Chen Xing continued self-harming like this, he would disembowel himself alive.
BANG!
But just at that moment, Chen Xing’s abdomen suddenly ruptured, and a shadow quickly crawled out, lunging directly at Sun Yan, who was the closest.
This unexpected development left everyone too stunned to react immediately.
When Sun Yan pulled the Ghost Torturing Stick from his pocket, the shadow had already latched onto his chest, opening its mouth to bite.
"Damn!"
Feeling a sharp pain in his chest, Sun Yan swiftly swung the stick, forcibly hitting the thing on his chest.
Assaulted by a blow from the Ghost Torturing Stick, it immediately fell to the ground, letting out shrill wails of baby-like crying.
When Raymond got a good look, his expression changed drastically; it was actually a purple-skinned infant, though the infant’s body had not completely developed, mostly still displaying embryonic forms, clearly a product of an untimely abortion.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Despite the infant lying on the ground crying, Sun Yan, having been bitten, could not afford to be lenient. He struck down relentlessly, and after more than a dozen hits, the infant stopped moving altogether.
"Mr. Jackson, are you okay?" Raymond asked worriedly as he regained his composure.
Sun Yan didn’t respond, hurriedly removed his shirt, revealing a darkened bite mark on his chest. His expression darkened instantaneously; did he get cursed with Black Magic? Now it was really troublesome.
Hearing the uproar in the ward, officers outside immediately rushed in, only to be greeted by a harrowing scene.
Chen Xing was already deceased, lying in his own remains, his expression frozen in terror as if he had encountered something dreadfully nightmarish.
On the ground beside Sun Yan was a battered infant’s body, its grotesqueness leaving them at a loss for words.
"Quickly call in others to clean up this mess, pack up the corpse, and take precautions; the deceased might be carrying an unknown virus," Raymond said gravely.
Witnessing everything firsthand, Chen Xing’s death was nothing short of chilling.
If such an affliction were contagious, it would spell disaster for humanity.
Without saying a word, Sun Yan put his clothes back on and stepped out of the ward, feeling utterly uneasy about the bite from the dead infant within Chen Xing.
It’s said that Black Magic Masters cast spells so subtly and unknowingly that a person could unwittingly fall victim to a curse.
The dead infant hidden inside Chen Xing could very well be a sinister trick set by that Black Magic Master specifically aimed at dealing with Sun Yan, the rival who lifted the curse.
The pressing matter for Sun Yan right now was to ensure that his body remained unaffected. If indeed cursed, it must be expelled swiftly to avoid ending up like Chen Xing.
Thus, Sun Yan planned to return quickly to the graveyard to seek help from the True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao.
"Young friend, you have quite a bit of trouble on your hands now."
Just as Sun Yan stepped out of the ward, an old man’s voice suddenly came from nearby.
Turning his head, Sun Yan found an elderly man wearing sunglasses seated on a public bench outside the ward. With a cane in hand, he gazed directly at Sun Yan, looking very dignified in his traditional Chinese tunic suit and cloth shoes.
Confused, Sun Yan asked, "And you are?"
"Oh my, Mr. Haidong, since when have you returned from your travels? How could you not notify me in advance so I could arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport?"
Upon seeing the elder, Raymond exclaimed joyously as he walked out of the ward.
"I am not a notable person, why would I need to be picked up?" the old man chuckled calmly, "I heard from the officers that there was a strange case in Jinshui District that occurred recently, so I thought I’d stop by to take a look."
"That’s wonderful, with your help, I am reassured," Raymond exclaimed excitedly, quickly introducing to Sun Yan: "Mr. Jackson, this is Zhou Haidong, a spiritual consultant for our Jinshui District Police Station. Like you, he’s a Chinese businessman operating in Saint Anna City."
