CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: THE DEAL

"Corpse Collector?"

Sun Yan’s tone was filled with confusion, and only now did he recall the letter he found in his ’Trader’s Mailbox’ the last time he received a reward, which turned out to have been sent by this very guy in front of him.

"Indeed, according to the rules, if I want to come and trade with you, I must schedule it on the white Sunday designated for open exchanges. I hope my visit today hasn’t disturbed the manager’s rest. Now, could you let me see if there’s any valuable merchandise in your graveyard?"

The voice of the bandaged man in front of him was very hoarse, without a trace of inflection. From his explanation, Sun Yan could only gather some scattered pieces of information.

’Trade’’Open Exchange Day’’Merchandise’

Coming to the graveyard seeking a trade, what could the merchandise possibly refer to? Coupled with the fact that Bakar Moon called himself a corpse collector, Sun Yan quickly realized the man’s intention, and his heart was filled with astonishment.

This graveyard was privately involved in selling corpses in the past; if such criminal activity were discovered and reported, they would definitely be arrested.

"I hope you don’t mind me taking a look around, Mr. Manager."

Without minding Sun Yan’s surprised gaze, Bakar Moon walked past the main house straight towards the backyard cemetery.

Seeing how proactive he was, Sun Yan had no choice but to follow quickly. Selling corpses was something he never dared to think of before, nor had it ever crossed his mind.

Now suddenly having someone claiming to be a corpse collector show up for business, without knowing the rules, Sun Yan didn’t dare to refuse him outright. It would be troublesome if anything went wrong.

The cemetery was silent in the dead of night, with gravestones standing thickly. Coupled with the dense fog enveloping the entire perimeter of the graveyard, blocking any view of the outside world, the place exuded a chilling, eerie atmosphere.

Bakar Moon moved slowly through the cemetery, his gaze sweeping over the gravestones he passed by, like a customer inspecting goods.

Most of the bodies buried in the graveyard were interred during Sun Yan’s grandfather’s tenure, and Sun Yan had inherited the graveyard for less than half a month, having personally buried only a few bodies.

Seeing Bakar Moon picking and choosing, Sun Yan was already beginning to hesitate whether he should sell if the man indeed set his eyes on a specific customer’s family member’s corpse.

Would these corpse collectors use US Dollars for the transaction?

Accompanied by Sun Yan, Bakar suddenly came to a stop in front of a weathered gravestone.

He turned his head to the square gravestone, which didn’t even have the deceased’s name, and his tone suddenly became lively: "Oh! This is the aura of a demon, quite impressive. This is definitely high-grade merchandise. Mr. Manager, have you set a price for it? I’m willing to offer three bottles of holy water."

Sun Yan looked at the gravestone and immediately recognized the occupant of this grave. It turned out to be Belia Elizabeth, the interred of the Demon Exorcism Tomb he examined on the day he inherited the graveyard.

According to the notebook’s introduction, this deceased person was plagued by an evil spirit after death and held residual resentment, thus being somewhat dangerous.

Initially, Sun Yan had been worried that having such an entity in the graveyard might pose a risk, but after residing in the graveyard for a while without any incidents concerning the Demon Exorcism Tomb, he gradually felt at ease.

Had Bakar not brought it up, he might have nearly forgotten about the existence of this corpse in the graveyard.

Seeing no response from Sun Yan, Bakar continued: "How about five bottles of holy water? This is already a very fair price, sir."

The currency unit used by corpse collectors turned out to be quite unexpected for Sun Yan. In this field, he was totally a novice. Initially, Sun Yan thought it might be US Dollars, Pounds Sterling, or Euros—worse comes to worst, maybe some gold or silver—but he didn’t expect the offer to be holy water.

What is this holy water? What’s it used for?

"I don’t want holy water," Sun Yan shook his head. Although he hadn’t eaten pork, he had seen pigs run.

Holy water probably had some connection with churches, most likely used for exorcism to deal with evil spirits.

But these were means employed by Western exorcists. As an Eastern Exorcist able to invite General Zeng and General Sun to possess him, and with True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao guarding him, Sun Yan didn’t feel the need to rely on the power of holy water.

"Sir, take a look at this instead, perhaps it will satisfy you."

Bakar removed his hat and, like a magician, reached into it and pulled out a strangely-shaped weapon.

To be precise, it appeared to be the broken head of a long weapon, with a trident-like blade at the front and double-edged blades on both sides, forming a unique structure.

Although the object was rust-covered and appeared to be an ancient relic from the last century, Sun Yan immediately recognized its origin.

It was the blade head of a Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade!

Sun Yan’s forehead itched faintly, a thread of golden crack lighting up, as if an eye from within was observing this ancient object before him.

"It actually triggered a Celestial Eye reaction, it seems this thing could be beneficial to True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao," Sun Yan thought excitedly to himself.

When he had drawn the True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao’s divine statue from the Tomb Guardian, Sun Yan noticed the notebook had given two function tips.

’The Guardian God has a suppressive effect on evil spirits.’

’Collecting exclusive holy objects of True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao can enhance the divine statue’s quality and unlock more available divine powers.’

Sun Yan had already experienced the first function through the purification of the Magic Mirror. As for the second function, it might be related to the incomplete Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade before him.

Sun Yan reached for the head of the Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade and caressed it, asking: "Where did you get this antique?"

"Of course, through trading as well, but this weapon seems to have become severely damaged, having lost its original power. Since acquiring it, I haven’t been able to uncover its true purpose. Perhaps you can discover its real function," Bakar chuckled.

"Deal, the corpse is yours." Glancing at the Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade in his hand, Sun Yan agreed without hesitation.

As the Tomb Guardian, upgrading the quality of the True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao’s divine statue was the utmost priority.

If successful, it would not only unlock more divine powers but also greatly aid Sun Yan in his future exorcism endeavors.

For the graveyard, the stronger the True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao, the safer Sun Yan would be living there, yielding tremendous benefits.

A chance transaction to upgrade the Tomb Guardian’s quality by trading a corpse of unknown purpose was a sure win for Sun Yan.

"Then I’ll take it away," Bakar said, pulling out a candlestick from his hat, and with a light blow, a ghostly green flame ignited on the white wax candle of the candlestick.

A wisp of blue smoke drifted from the flame, sinking down into the ground where the grave was located.

Poof!

Instantly, a pale, elongated hand, its skin clinging with soil, burst out of the ground.

Before Sun Yan’s eyes, a corpse with disheveled hair, emitting a foul stench, struggled out of the earth and rigidly stood beside Bakar.

This was Sun Yan’s first time seeing the appearance of Madam Belia Elizabeth interred in the Demon Exorcism Tomb.

She seemed to be in her early twenties, the age of a young maiden in her prime, yet something inexplicable had turned her into such a state.

Based on Sun Yan’s experience, if anyone were possessed by an evil spirit, an exorcist would directly perform a ritual to exorcise it. How could it be that a deceased person remained possessed by an evil spirit after death?

Unfortunately, Sun Yan’s grandfather had passed away, and no one was left to know the origins of this body buried in the Demon Exorcism Tomb.

Having acquired an item he desired through the trade, Bakar’s mood appeared to be quite good.

With Sun Yan accompanying him, he again toured the cemetery and quickly halted in front of an unnamed grave without a tombstone.

The owner of this grave was the special corpse Sun Yan had previously stolen from Madam Lolian’s villa.

"What a pity, the demonic aura on it has long dissipated, losing its trade value," Bakar sighed with regret: "Sir, would you sell this merchandise for one bottle of holy water?"
