Saint Seiya: The Multiverse Libra Gold Saint
Chapter 56 56: SS 56: Commission
"What's the deal with this mission?"
Kaiser asked the Heroic Spirit System.
He hadn't yet heard the mission briefing.
"It's a world reconstruction task."
"A world reconstruction task?"
Kaiser paused, puzzled. What kind of mission was this?
"Is it like the Jujutsu Kaisen mission from before?"
He recalled his previous task.
That one had been classified as a supernatural extermination.
"No, it's different."
"This time, the client is the creator god of the current world."
"The requirement is to reshape the world."
"But you must preserve its supernatural elements."
"And maintain the current world order."
Kaiser was taken aback.
"You're saying the client is the creator of that world?"
"A creator god?"
Kaiser confirmed the mission details again.
What a strange universe... creator gods outsourcing tasks now?
"Correct, though his current state isn't great."
"And this mission will take a long time."
"But the reward is substantial."
"It's his status as a creator god and all his divinity."
"Though it pales compared to the gods of the Saint Seiya world, it will greatly aid you in forming your divine spark at the Ninth Sense."
Kaiser wasn't entirely clear on the situation, but the reward was too generous to pass up.
"Send me over."
"I want to see what's going on."
Kaiser's curiosity was piqued.
A being like this outsourcing world reshaping? That was intriguing.
A golden radiance enveloped him.
Kaiser was transported into the cosmic river of myriad worlds.
The world's membrane was pierced.
Kaiser smoothly arrived in the client's world.
What met his eyes was a peculiar space.
Kaiser could sense it was semi-sealed, heavily guarded.
"Hm?"
When Kaiser saw the client, a glint of understanding flashed in his eyes.
His arrival caused no ripples.
Even if it had, it wouldn't matter.
The so-called strongest Zero Division of Soul Society wouldn't be his match anyway.
"So it's you… Soul King…"
Looking at the figure sealed in crystal, Kaiser finally understood.
The pinnacle of power and status in the Bleach anime.
The Soul King, also known as the creator god, had shaped the current world order.
But his fate was grim.
Imprisoned by the ancestors of the five noble families, he served as the wedge maintaining the world's structure.
Using his omniscient power, the Soul King had seen the future and chosen to relinquish resistance.
As a result, the ancestor of the Tsunayashiro family reduced him to a limbless torso.
His organs were hollowed out, his limbs severed.
In the original Bleach anime, the Soul King never displayed consciousness, as if it had transcended the world, leaving only a body to sustain it.
"I didn't expect you to retain any consciousness." Kaiser said, looking at the Soul King in the crystal.
"So, are you truly dead, or have you transcended?"
"I'm neither dead nor transcended." The Soul King replied.
"I've merely been watching this world evolve and develop."
"I wanted to see what it would become without my interference."
The Soul King's consciousness manifested beside his mutilated body.
Unlike the tragic figure in the crystal, his consciousness was intact.
"So why did you call me here?" Kaiser asked.
"To set you free?"
"From what I know, your world has been running peacefully for thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of years."
"Its structure seems fairly stable."
"What's your goal?"
Though the Bleach world's structure was flawed, requiring the creator god's sacrifice, it was relatively stable for a world with supernatural powers.
It functioned smoothly enough.
"No, my existence is still a hindrance to the world." The Soul King said.
"When I was reduced to this state, I saw the future."
"I saw the three realms surviving in prolonged peace."
"Despite minor flaws, there were no major issues."
"I thought it could last forever."
"But recently, I realized I was wrong."
"A Shinigami named Aizen Sosuke appeared in Soul Society."
"His emergence made me question something."
"What is the definition of my existence?"
"Am I a ruler?"
"An object of worship?"
"Or just a wedge to maintain the world?"
"Today, I finally understood the problem."
"My existence is the world's obstacle."
The Soul King sighed, his words heavy with resignation.
"Interesting. How so?" Kaiser asked, intrigued.
"You must come from a world with a high power ceiling, right?" The Soul King said, glancing at Kaiser.
Though Kaiser hadn't displayed his power, the Soul King sensed its overwhelming pressure.
Kaiser's strength was undeniable, capable of effortlessly destroying this world.
The Soul King felt reassured entrusting his mission to such a being.
"Of course." Kaiser replied.
"In my world, my power is probably average at best."
His words stunned the Soul King, who gave a wry smile.
"That's exactly the issue."
"My existence is this world's ceiling."
"This world's upper limit is locked because of me."
"No matter how much Shinigami, Hollows, or Quincies train, they can never reach or surpass me."
"A world with a locked ceiling is flawed."
"Especially since our world's power ceiling isn't even that high."
The Soul King sighed again.
"I've observed Aizen Sosuke for a while." He continued.
"As a Shinigami, he's undoubtedly reached the pinnacle."
"His spiritual pressure, along with his skills in zanjutsu, hakuda, hoho, and kido, have all hit their limits."
"He's one of the five special war powers designated."
"Such exceptional talent, yet constrained by the world's limits."
"He's resorted to other methods to seek higher realms."
"He even views me, the Soul King, as an inactive existence, aiming to replace me."
"But who could know I'm in such a state?"
"Then there's Zaraki Kenpachi, another of the five special war powers."
"An absolute prodigy."
"With sheer swordsmanship instinct, he can go toe-to-toe with Unohana Retsu, the so-called swordsmanship master, even subconsciously suppressing his power."
"And why? Just to avoid losing such a worthy opponent."
"How absurd."
At this point, Kaiser understood the Soul King's point.
The world's ceiling was locked.
This would lead to internal conflict.
The ultimate outcome: the world's destruction.
If the world's level and ceiling were high enough, such issues would be far less prevalent.
But the Bleach world's problem lay in its low ceiling and the long lifespans of its beings, who could easily reach that limit.
Shinigami live for thousands of years with ease.
Hitsugaya Toshiro, over a hundred years old, is still considered underage in Soul Society.
Long-lived species have advantages, but also drawbacks.
The core issue is the world's fragility.
It's too easily destroyed.
While the world's cycle functions normally, it's undeniably flawed.
"I think I understand what you mean." Kaiser said, nodding.
He grasped the Soul King's intent.
It was about breaking the world's shackles.
Only a creator god as selfless as the Soul King would consider such a thing.
Other creator gods treat their creations as possessions... abusing them, watching them for amusement, or manipulating their lives.
The Saint Seiya world was a prime example of that.
But the Soul King was different. He saw his world as a child, willing to sacrifice himself to maintain its structure.
Such a being was rare across the myriad worlds.
"Then, farewell, Soul King…"
Kaiser gave the Soul King a deep look.
As the price of this deal, the Soul King was offering everything... his consciousness, soul, and body would be sacrificed to the Heroic Spirit System upon completion.
"Farewell, Kaiser." The Soul King replied with a smile.
As the employer, he naturally knew Kaiser's name.
His consciousness faded.
Kaiser had no reason to linger in the Soul King's Palace.
"How long is the time limit for this mission?" He asked.
The Heroic Spirit System responded immediately: "The minimum is one year, with no upper limit beyond that."
"Because it involves breaking the ceiling and reshaping the world, the laws need time to stabilize."
"Sudden changes could cause the world to collapse."
"If the laws aren't strong enough to support the world's membrane, it could be reduced to a lower dimension."
The response was within Kaiser's expectations.
Knowing it was a world-reshaping task, he anticipated it would take time.
This was different from the Jujutsu Kaisen world, where the goal was to eradicate the supernatural.
Destruction was easy; transformation required finesse.
Kaiser had no interest in meeting the Zero Division.
Instead, he left the Soul King's Palace and entered Soul Society.
"What weak spatial barriers." Kaiser muttered, frowning.
The Soul King's division of the three realms... Soul Society, the Human World, and Hueco Mundo... successfully separated souls, humans, and Hollows.
But the barriers were frail.
To put it bluntly, anyone with a bit of power and ambition could cross them with ease.
"Even with three Command Spells, this world is too fragile for me." Kaiser said.
"The real strength must lie in Hell."
He glanced at an abyss beneath the world.
But it didn't concern him.
"With barriers this weak, no wonder Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni could destroy the world so easily…"
After some thought, Kaiser set his sights on Aizen Sosuke.
As one of Bleach's antagonists and one of the five special war powers, Aizen's potential, strength, mindset, and intellect made him ideal for Kaiser's plans.
The best way to raise a world's ceiling was to break its cycle from within.
Aizen was the perfect candidate.
Besides, at this point in the timeline, Kurosaki Ichigo was still too young, not yet having awakened his Shinigami powers.
Training him would take too long.
Kaiser didn't want to waste time in this world.
After a moment's consideration, he appeared at Aizen's location.
At that moment, Aizen was studying the Hogyoku.
"Still immature, huh?"
Aizen gazed at the Hogyoku, a rare sigh escaping him.
As someone with clear goals, the lack of progress was wearing on him.
"What if your approach is wrong?" Kaiser interjected.
"Who's there?"
Aizen tensed.
Since his spiritual pressure reached the Shinigami limit, no one had ever approached him undetected.
Kaiser's words nearly made him draw his zanpakuto.
"Who are you?"
Aizen turned, catching sight of Kaiser. His eyes flickered with a momentary daze.
Blessed with Athena's divine blood and divinity, Kaiser's golden pupils radiated overwhelming divine presence.
"Could it be… the Soul King?!"
Aizen's body stiffened.
His actions had all been aimed at the Soul King.
"Has he discovered me?"
That was Aizen's only thought.
"No need to worry." Kaiser said.
"I'm not that selfless Soul King."
"I'm just curious about you, someone he said has reached the Shinigami limit."
Those three sentences carried a wealth of information.
First, the Soul King was aware of Aizen's existence but seemed unconcerned by his transgressions.
"So you're here to help me?" Aizen asked, adjusting his glasses.
His eyes, hidden behind them, gleamed with calculation.
He sensed no malice from Kaiser.
"You're sharp." Kaiser said.
"But your vision is limited, and your goals are misaligned."
Kaiser's words made Aizen lower some of his guard, waiting for more.
He could faintly sense that Kaiser was on a different level.
No amount of caution would save him if Kaiser wanted him dead.
Seeing Aizen's attentive demeanor, Kaiser continued, "The Soul King's position isn't something most could endure."
"It seems like rulership over the three realms, but it's just a puppet's role."
"In this world, the Soul King is merely a programmed construct to maintain the world's framework."
"No consciousness, no autonomy, his body torn apart."
"You know this, don't you?"
"After all, you've obtained fragments of the Soul King's body."
Kaiser gave Aizen a meaningful look.
Aizen froze, his expression shifting.
He thought of his research and the items he'd acquired through Rangiku.
"So that was part of the Soul King's body?"
Aizen finally understood why those fragments were so powerful.
They were pieces of the Soul King himself.
"Wait…"
"You said 'your world.'"
"You're not from this world?"
"Where are you from? The Human World? Hueco Mundo? Or perhaps Hell?"
Aizen's words carried a trace of uncertainty.
Having reached the pinnacle of Shinigami power, he couldn't fathom someone so much stronger existing elsewhere.
Hell was a faint possibility, but even then...
"You've already guessed, haven't you?" Kaiser said.
"I told you, you're a smart one."
Kaiser glanced at Aizen.
"So why me?"
Aizen suppressed his shock and countered with a question.
"Because you're smart enough and have sufficient potential." Kaiser replied.
"And you've already touched the ceiling of this world."
"I've been tasked by the Soul King to break the shackles binding this world."
"You're the best candidate."
"Think bigger."
"Once the world's limits are shattered, you could surpass the Soul King's current power."
"Beyond this world, there are countless others."
"Your world is but a speck in the vast sea of existence."
Aizen's expression wavered between intrigue and uncertainty.
Kaiser's words were tempting, but Aizen was cautious, preferring to rely on himself.
"Should I take the gamble?"
His instincts told him this was a rare opportunity.
"Are there others besides me?" Aizen asked, probing.
"Of course." Kaiser said.
"Zaraki Kenpachi is a candidate, as is that being you created, and Urahara Kisuke too."
"There's also someone in the Zero Division, but I don't like them."
Kaiser said calmly...
