CHAPTER 20: CHAPTER 20: WHEN I RETURN, I HOPE YOU ARE HERE
"I hope to see you when I return, understand?" He gently caressed her petal-like lips with his fingertip, then leaned down to softly kiss her lips, releasing her afterward.
What he meant was that he hoped to see her when he returned.
As for where she went while he was away from the villa, he didn’t inquire.
Betty Chapman understood his meaning and immediately nodded, "I understand."
Adrian Walyon left after that, and before leaving, he didn’t impose any restrictions on her freedom, only instructed his men to secretly protect her if Betty Chapman left the villa.
Betty Chapman stood upstairs, watching his car leave; once the car was out of sight, she hurried downstairs, left the villa, and took a taxi back to school.
She hadn’t agreed to the marriage proposition, so why was she living at Adrian Walyon’s place?
She didn’t even know his actual identity.
Walyon Family.
When Adrian Walyon returned, he had dinner with his family.
Before the meal started, Old Master Walyon mentioned the proposal to marry into the Sutton Family.
Adrian Walyon’s character had always been unyielding.
Fearing his refusal, Old Master Walyon issued a direct order, "You must marry the Sutton family’s daughter!"
Adrian Walyon’s gaze lowered slightly as he picked up his steak knife and began cutting his steak.
He didn’t respond to Old Master Walyon’s words.
Old Master Walyon ignored Adrian’s silence and turned to instruct Diana Wood, "Aren’t Father Sutton and his daughter visiting these days? Make proper arrangements to finalize this marriage."
"Dad, I understand," Diana Wood said.
Old Master Walyon nodded and leisurely continued his dinner.
...
Betty Chapman’s school is on break recently, and she’s the only one in the dormitory.
Whenever school is not in session, Betty Chapman usually works part-time outside.
But just a few days ago, someone had ill intentions against her, meaning she certainly couldn’t go to her part-time place now.
Finding a new place isn’t quick either, and for the moment, Betty Chapman doesn’t know what she should do.
As she sorted through her things in the dormitory, she suddenly came across a photo of her from when she was young with Father Sutton.
Betty Chapman was born without ever seeing her mother; no one in the family had ever told her where her mother went, nor had anyone mentioned her.
She only had her grandfather and father.
Now that father and grandfather are gone, she’s left all alone.
She sat on the bed hugging her knees, suddenly longing deeply for her grandfather and father.
Since her grandfather passed, Betty Chapman hadn’t really returned to the Sutton family’s grand house.
With the break coinciding, she suddenly wanted to go back and take a look.
Betty Chapman made up her mind and immediately bought a ticket to River City.
The Sutton Family is considered a prominent family in River City, but all its glory was during Father Sutton’s lifetime.
Betty Chapman returned, simply wanting to see the place she once lived and to reminisce about her father and grandfather.
Gina Sutton and her father are both in Northtown, and when Betty Chapman returned, only her aunt, a woman named Betty Chapman, was at home.
When Betty Chapman saw her, she seemed shocked and, for some reason, a bit flustered.
Betty Chapman had just entered when she blocked her at the door, "Why have you come back?"
"This is also my home. My last name is Sutton. Why shouldn’t I come back?" Betty Chapman stared at her, silently mocking her as the outsider here.
"Your father and grandfather are no longer here; what’s the point of coming back?" Betty Chapman retorted scornfully.
