CHAPTER 220: CHAPTER 220: A SPECIAL VALENTINE’S DAY
Adrian Walyon paused for a moment, his hands slowly coming to a stop.
Summer Sutton had just casually mentioned it, not giving it much thought herself.
Facing the mirror, she continued fussing over the marks on her neck.
It’s not winter now, spring has begun, and she’s not dressed as heavily.
Adrian left quite a few hickeys on her neck; clothes probably won’t cover them.
Looks like she’ll have to rely on concealer tomorrow, covering as much as possible.
Adrian turned his head slightly, his gaze quietly resting on her, pondering her earlier words.
After a period of silence, he suddenly said, "What if I say yes?"
Summer was about to walk out, startled by his words, nearly bumping her head against the door.
Her back stiffened a bit, her face slowly turned, unable to believe what she heard.
Adrian offered no explanation, swiftly finishing his wash-up, and walked out.
Summer watched him pass by her, ears buzzing loudly.
He actually admitted such a thing!
...
Next day, when Summer Sutton arrived at school and just took her seat in the classroom, Zoe Baxter leaned over to her with a mysterious look and asked, "Summer, what have you two planned for today?"
"What planned for today?" Summer Sutton had no idea what she was talking about.
She and Adrian lived the same way every day, didn’t they?
"Today is Valentine’s Day! Aren’t you guys going to celebrate?" Zoe Baxter rested her hand beside Summer and continued to gossip.
Summer Sutton shot her a look, splashing cold water on her enthusiasm, "We only celebrate New Year."
"Really?" Zoe Baxter was a bit surprised, staring at her for quite a while, pursing her lips, "You two are really unique."
Summer Sutton casually replied, twitched her lips, and took out her textbook to listen to the class.
...
After a whole day of classes at school, Adrian Walyon didn’t come to pick her up today, so Summer Sutton took the bus home herself.
The streets on Valentine’s Day were exceptionally lively.
Couples were seen everywhere on sidewalks, men and women waiting for their lovers, and at bus stations, scenes of lovers reuniting after a long time apart played out from time to time.
After getting off the bus, Summer Sutton walked down the street alone, and as she walked, she suddenly recalled Zoe Baxter’s words.
It’s Valentine’s Day today!
Summer Sutton and Adrian Walyon had only been married for a short time, having celebrated New Year together once.
She wasn’t sure if Adrian cared about a holiday like Valentine’s Day.
In Summer Sutton’s view, Adrian seemed like the type who wouldn’t celebrate such holidays at all.
She didn’t pay much attention to it, quickened her pace, and continued on her way.
When she arrived home, the villa was dark.
Adrian Walyon seemed not to have returned yet.
Knowing there were probably numerous tasks at the company, Summer didn’t call to bother him.
After arriving home, she quickly prepared some dinner for herself and resolved it, then took a seat on the sofa to watch TV.
Adrian Walyon still hadn’t returned.
Close to eleven o’clock, Summer was preparing to go upstairs to wash and sleep when suddenly the phone rang.
The call was from Adrian Walyon.
Summer Sutton picked up the phone, answered, and Adrian said nothing besides the forceful command of two words, "Come out!"
Summer Sutton was startled for a moment, stiffly taking the phone while heading outside.
When she reached the front door, Adrian’s car just arrived.
He seemed to have just finished a hectic day at the company, and drove back in a bit of a hurry, as if rushing to accomplish something.
Such urgency surprised Summer Sutton once again.
"Get in!" Adrian Walyon offered no explanation, opened the car door, and pulled her in.
At this point, it was already eleven o’clock.
He intends to take her out?
