CHAPTER 577: CHAPTER 577 THE MISSED DINNER

The seating arrangement of the Walyon Family is quite particular, not based on seniority, but on one’s status within the family.

Adrian Walyon’s seat has always been beside the Old Master from a young age, opposite him and on equal footing is Paul Walyon.

Bryce Walyon, as the uncle, is seated further back.

Even though the Old Master usually shows equal affection to all branches of the family, the seating arrangement alone reveals that the second branch is always just that - second, a tier below Adrian’s family.

Seeing Adrian once again seated beside the Old Master, Bryce’s mood during dinner was especially complex today.

Adrian didn’t say much, quietly eating his meal from start to finish without speaking to anyone at home.

He ate quickly, intending to finish dinner and return to Morning Garden as soon as possible.

But while they were eating, the Old Master started talking about the Walyon Clan Group.

"You’ve been home for quite some time now; start going back to work at the company tomorrow!"

"Hmm." Adrian responded indifferently, without a trace of emotion on his face.

Beside him, Bryce silently listened to this, his spoon clinking against the plate.

Adrian was still at odds with the Old Master!

Because the Old Master hadn’t allowed Summer Sutton to return to the Walyon family, Adrian’s relationship with him had never improved.

This kid has only shown up for a few days, and the old man is already letting him return to the company.

If he stayed a few more days, would the company have to be renamed to Adrian Walyon’s?

The more Bryce thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.

By the end of the meal, he had lost his appetite entirely.

During dinner, the Old Master conversed a lot with Adrian, talking about the company’s situation over the past year, recounting all the events during his absence.

Adrian listened silently from start to finish, occasionally checking his watch, thinking of Summer Sutton waiting at home for him, and several times attempted to leave.

However, each time he felt the urge, Diana Wood firmly restrained him.

Diana stood nearby, repeatedly gesturing with her eyes.

Adrian and the Old Master had been at odds for over a year; this was a rare opportunity for the grandfather and grandson to sit together calmly, discussing family matters over a meal.

If Adrian dared to leave at such a time, he couldn’t blame Diana for continuing to interfere between him and Summer Sutton!

Adrian wasn’t really interested in the Old Master’s topics, but because of Diana, he stayed to listen quietly until the old man finished speaking.

He wasn’t afraid of Diana, just found her annoying.

This time back with the family, his stay was a bit prolonged.

Morning Garden.

Summer Sutton sat on the sofa, still waiting for him.

Adrian’s earlier phone call had promised he would return soon, which Summer understood to mean that he’d be home in an hour or so.

However, she sat in the living room from seven o’clock to eight, then from eight to nine, and ten, until past midnight, yet Adrian was nowhere to be seen.

By half-past midnight, Summer couldn’t hold on any longer and went upstairs to sleep.

Adrian returned home at one o’clock.

The house was dark except for the garden lights and a faint candlelight from the living room.

Adrian entered quietly, his gaze following the only light in the house to the candlelit dining table.

On the dining table was a delicate cherry blossom mousse cake and a gift box.
