CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58: LAST NIGHT, EVERYTHING HAPPENED BETWEEN US
Summer Sutton slept through until the next day before waking up.
The fever had clearly subsided, but her head was still a bit groggy.
The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was Adrian Walyon’s bare chest.
Summer felt as if someone had hit her over the head with a stick, staring at him fixedly for a good while, then stiffly lifted the sheet to look at herself and him under it.
If she hadn’t looked, it might have been better; but as soon as she did, her face turned instantly pale.
She and Adrian were not wearing any clothes, not even underwear!
Summer stared blankly at herself and Adrian like this, her mind in chaos.
Adrian might have sensed the gaze on him; his closed eyes slowly opened.
Seeing her face drained of color from fright, he didn’t bother explaining, but leisurely uttered, "Last night, you asked for it actively."
Glancing sidelong at her, he paused for a moment and added, "You hugged me, kissed me, I responded, but you wanted more, hence the situation we are in now."
Summer looked at him in disbelief, her face becoming even paler.
"You’re talking nonsense! I would never do that!" She wanted to argue, but he interrupted her, "You were confused from the fever and don’t remember, it’s not your fault. But what’s done is done, avoiding responsibility like this is wrong."
Summer had no idea what happened last night; what responsibility was she supposed to take?
"You know I was feverish, how can you take seriously what a sick person does?" Her gaze flickered unnatural; she continued defending herself.
"But what’s done is done, tell me, what are you planning to do about it?" Adrian slowly leaned in toward her, his lips almost touching hers.
Do about what?
Was he really expecting her to take responsibility for last night’s actions?
"I don’t remember anything; even if something did happen, you didn’t lose out." The overly intimate distance made Summer feel a bit panicked.
She quickly slipped out of his arms, wrapped in a sheet, and headed straight to the bathroom after getting off the bed.
She ran a bit fast, her steps flustered, afraid that staying another minute here would make Adrian truly hold her accountable.
Alone in the bathroom, washing and brushing, she rinsed her face over and over, looking at herself in the mirror, and frowned.
She tried moving her body, and indeed felt a bit sore.
Even the base of her legs felt sore.
As she stared at herself in the mirror, her complexion turned instantly ashen.
Did she truly muddle through and have that kind of encounter with Adrian?
Summer, annoyed, wanted to smack herself.
Just how severe was her fever last night, that she couldn’t even remember losing herself?
She spent quite a while in the bathroom, coming out with her head hanging low, avoiding eye contact with Adrian.
Adrian caught sight of her morose face, subtly twitching the corner of his mouth.
Summer quickly changed clothes and, with her head down, left the bedroom.
After going downstairs, she was still pondering over this matter while eating.
The more she thought, the less it made sense.
How could she have no memory of such a significant event as losing herself?
With a strong sense of confusion, she finished breakfast, went upstairs to grab her book, planning to go to school, and decided to tidy up the messy sheets.
She lifted them to smoothen them and unexpectedly found them clean and free of any marks that would follow a heated encounter.
As she stared at the sheets, sudden realization hit her.
"Adrian Walyon, you’re shameless!"
He actually deceived her about such a thing!
