Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Eliminating Hidden Dangers (3) Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Eliminating Hidden Dangers (3) “So… isn’t it perfectly normal for a brother to like his sister too? I mean, which brother in the world doesn’t like his own sister?” Carolline Ruiz argued, and she wasn’t wrong.
Moreover, it’s not like everyone who gets drunk only shouts the name of the woman they love. They could also call names of their mother, father, or the people they consider important in their lives.
This is a medical theory, so in Carolline’s view, those who get drunk and call out a woman’s name are not necessarily secretly in love with her as people assume. People’s actions when drunk can be unconscious, but their reactions may vary.
Therefore, this situation really doesn’t prove anything.
Naturally, Carolline wouldn’t explain the medical theory to Lucy Wade. Anyway, even if she did, Lucy wouldn’t understand.
“Really?” Lucy asked, then fell into deep thought. Carolline didn’t know what she was wrestling with in her mind.
Carolline yawned several times, feeling sleepy and full. “I’m done eating. Let’s go, I want to go back and take a nap.”
“Did you sneak out to steal chickens last night?” Lucy teased Carolline while calling someone to pay the bill.
That was their favorite joke when they were young. If someone wanted to sleep during class, they’d be questioned by the other if they went out to steal chickens or ducks the night before.
“…” Carolline didn’t say anything and continued yawning.
Her drowsiness was just because of her pregnancy, but she didn’t intend to explain this to Lucy.
— A dividing line —
On Friday, Carolline bought some fruit and nutritional supplements and went to the Hawkins Family residence. Emily Hill was going to the hot spring this week and left home around four in the afternoon. Henry Ruiz was on night shift, so Carolline didn’t need to explain her whereabouts to anyone.
Carolline arrived at the Hawkins Family residence around the same time as Joyce Lopez, who also drove there.
The two women met at the doorstep of the Hawkins Family home. It was the first time Joyce had taken the initiative to visit them. She later realized her past thinking was wrong. Liking someone doesn’t mean only showing affection to that person. She should make more appearances in front of Bryan Hawkins’ family so they might say good things about her.
Since Carolline had visited Pupace Mountain several times, the security guard let her in without any hassle.
On the other hand, it was Joyce’s first visit, so she experienced some difficulties. After calling Mrs. Hawkins and explaining her identity and purpose, she had Sophia Lawson call the security guard before she was finally let in.
So one was walking and one was driving, and both met at the entrance.
The butler, upon hearing the doorbell and seeing Carolline, exclaimed in delight, “Miss Ruiz is here! The old lady has been waiting for you for a while.”
As Joyce hadn’t visited the Hawkins Family since she grew up, the butler wasn’t quite familiar with her. Upon seeing Joyce, he wasn’t sure how to greet her. “And who might this be?”
At first, the butler thought Joyce was Carolline’s friend, but they didn’t seem that close – after all, one was inside the vehicle and the other was outside.
“Uncle Butler, it’s me, Joyce Lopez, Jack Lopez’s granddaughter. I remember coming to your house to play when I was little.” Joyce got out of the car and smiled sweetly at the elderly butler, though she felt uncomfortable inside.
“Oh, so this is Miss Lopez.” The butler wasn’t familiar with Joyce and didn’t remember her coming to the Hawkins Family home when she was young. His memory had more to do with Jack Lopez, who was his master’s good friend.
