CHAPTER 185: CHAPTER 185 TAKING CARE OF YOUNG MASTER XIE

Xie Yuchen didn’t respond, his breathing steady and long, like he was really asleep.

Zhang Miaoyan squatted on the carpet, trying to place the thermometer under his armpit, but he was wearing a shirt, making it impossible to place.

Her face was burning. After confirming multiple times that he was really asleep, she trembled as she unbuttoned his shirt.

As she pulled open his shirt, revealing his tanned, muscular chest, Zhang Miaoyan’s face turned red and her heart raced. Who would have thought that Young Master Xie, who stays in the lab all day, would have the time to get such a nice tan?

She shook her head, secretly scolding herself. How could she still be lost in his charm at a time like this? It was truly embarrassing!

She carefully moved his hand away, placed the thermometer under his armpit, and pulled his shirt back.

There were no blankets in the living room, so Zhang Miaoyan went to the guest room to get a quilt. Sweating it out would help a lot.

After Zhang Miaoyan went into the room, Xie Yuchen opened his eyes.

A smirk appeared on his face. When he heard Zhang Miaoyan’s footsteps, he closed his eyes again.

Zhang Miaoyan came back, wobbling with a quilt that was taller than she was, almost tripping over herself.

She covered Xie Yuchen with the quilt. But Xie Yuchen, feeling uncomfortable, frowned and unconsciously pushed the quilt away.

This little girl, is she trying to roast him?

Zhang Miaoyan wrung out a towel in the bathroom. Seeing that Xie Yuchen had pushed the quilt away, she took out the thermometer.

Thirty-nine degrees, luckily not too serious.

She buttoned up his shirt, making sure everything was back to normal before he woke up, otherwise, he’d likely despise her.

Buttoning it up was harder than unbuttoning it. Being so close, Zhang Miaoyan’s nose even began to sweat.

Her fingers accidentally brushed his chest muscles, causing Xie Yuchen to tilt his head slightly.

Frightened, Zhang Miaoyan fell back onto the carpet, with excuses ready to explain herself.

Covering her mouth so as not to make a sound, she saw that Xie Yuchen didn’t seem like he was going to wake up, and she nervously continued buttoning him up.

After finally getting everything back to normal, Zhang Miaoyan grabbed his hand and placed it under the quilt, tucking him in properly.

She murmured, "You’re not a child, why do you still like to kick the quilt while sleeping?"

She changed his ice pack, and when Xie Yuchen started sweating, she went to the bathroom to get a towel to wipe off his sweat.

It was already dawn after all the fuss. Zhang Miaoyan didn’t dare to go upstairs to sleep. She leaned against the sofa, half-asleep, getting up three or four times during the night to change his ice pack and wipe his sweat. By around four in the morning, his fever finally subsided.

She touched his forehead, neck, and hands. The temperature was nearing normal, so she changed his ice pack one last time, finally relaxing against the armrest of the sofa.

Xie Yuchen couldn’t sleep well either. He didn’t dare to sleep too deeply, worried she might wear herself out taking care of him, but with the high fever, he couldn’t stay fully awake.

In a half-asleep state, he felt her soft hands frequently wiping his sweat and tucking the quilt.

Something in Xie Yuchen’s heart broke through a barrier. His eyes wouldn’t open, but his mind was filled with her image.

He whispered her name, "Zhang Miaoyan."

Zhang Miaoyan was fast asleep against the sofa, unable to hear him calling her name.

When she woke up, she found herself lying on the sofa, covered with a thin blanket.

Daylight filled the room, and she looked around the living room, but Xie Yuchen was nowhere to be seen. Only his suit remained on the sofa.

She stood up, hearing clanging sounds from the kitchen and smelling a faint burnt aroma in the air.

Rushing into the kitchen, she saw Xie Yuchen cooking.

Standing at the door, she called, "Mr. Xie, are you feeling better?"

Xie Yuchen turned around, seeing her sleepy figure standing at the door, looking like a cat that had just woken up.

The pond in his heart rippled, fighting the urge to walk over to her. He said, "I’m much better. Sorry to have troubled you all night."

She was no longer afraid of him, and he didn’t want to scare her again.

Zhang Miaoyan said, "It’s no trouble. I was worried that my carelessness might worsen your condition."

She went up to check his forehead, relieved to find it wasn’t hot at all.

Xie Yuchen stared at her, his hand uncontrollably resting on her waist.

Zhang Miaoyan suddenly withdrew, bumping into the table behind her.

She held her waist, groaning, "Ouch."

Xie Yuchen said nervously, "Let me take a look."

"No need, I’m fine," Zhang Miaoyan said, fleeing in panic. "I’m going upstairs to shower and get ready for work."

After walking a few steps, she turned back and said, "The porridge you’re cooking is burnt. Leave it, I’ll make it for you later."

She then ran upstairs, locking herself in her room, clutching her chest. Was her heart racing because she ran too fast?

She quickly showered, splashing cold water on her face repeatedly. Once she was ready, she went back downstairs.

Xie Yuchen was really waiting for her to make him breakfast.

Seeing that there was still some time left, she hurriedly made two bowls of porridge. With no time to make it thick, she could only cook plain porridge.

She prepared some side dishes. Xie Yuchen stood at the door, watching her, and said, "Miaoyan, I want to eat fried eggs."

Though they had known each other for a while, it seemed like this was the first time he had called her by name, Miaoyan.

Before, he rarely called her by her name. If they happened to meet and exchange a few words, it was always either nothing or just "you".

Hearing her name from his mouth, Zhang Miaoyan accidentally added too much salt.

She busily tried to scoop out the excess salt, hearing him laugh behind her, causing her ears to turn red.

Turning back, she said, "What’s so funny? You’re not supposed to eat eggs when you have a fever. Only vegetables."

Xie Yuchen realized how adorable she was. With a smile in his eyes, he said, "Alright, vegetables are fine."

Zhang Miaoyan quickly prepared breakfast and brought it out.

Young Master Xie was still capable of serving himself porridge. Zhang Miaoyan ate a little and then got up, saying, "I’m off to work. Take your time eating, and if you still feel unwell, remember to see a doctor."

Xie Yuchen said, "Wait, I’ll take you."

He quickly finished his porridge. "Leave the dishes for the housekeeper to clean. Let’s go."

Zhang Miaoyan was wondering if she should get in his car when he took her bag just like the night before.

Frustrated, she followed him out. Why couldn’t she seem to avoid him lately?

United States.

An Junxi was trying to catch up on sleep in the room. Poor her, having been bitten by bugs all night while camping, resulting in sleeplessness and bites all over her hands and feet.

Gu Jinxiu, on the other hand, slept soundly. He clung to An Junxi, rubbing his little face against her shoulder, with his leg draped over Gu Yikun’s waist.

An Junxi was itchy from the bites, but she didn’t dare to move, afraid of waking the child.

In the faint light, she saw that Gu Yikun was also unable to sleep.

Gu Yikun wasn’t as gentle as her. He moved Jin Xiu’s leg away multiple times, only to have Jin Xiu naturally place it back on his waist the next moment.

Seeing Gu Yikun’s frustrated face, An Junxi suppressed her laughter, suddenly feeling that she was quite comfortable.

They both endured the night, and by morning, Gu Yikun gave Jin Xiu some assignments and ordered him to stay in the study room to finish his homework, then took his wife back to their room to catch up on sleep.
