CHAPTER 111: AUCTION EVENT 2

It didn’t take long for bids to come flying in! In a matter of a few seconds, the original four million starting point turned into ten million!

My body shook. I couldn’t believe that the price rose so high! I was only expecting to make a few million from the entire collection, but just a pair of bracelets already beat all of my expectations!

Morgan stood up as soon as she saw them on the screen. Her reaction was so strong that even Christian and Karl turned their heads to make sure she was okay.

"They’re beautiful! I’ve never seen anything like it!" she said.

Why, thank you, sister.

I shook my head, enjoying the rare compliment from her.

Without wasting more time, she lifted the electronic tablet and placed her bid.

"Eleven million six-hundred thousand! Bidder 329!" The MC’s voice echoed throughout the hall, announcing the highest bidding price and the corresponding personal identification number.

Morgan frowned and lifted her tablet once more, increasing her bid. A part of me wondered where she got the money from, but I assumed that Father allowed he a limit.

She glanced over at me, seeing my calm demeanor. "What? Are you not going to bid on those?" she asked.

I shook my head, "No, I don’t usually wear bracelets. I’ll wait and see if there are other pieces."

She shrugged and turned her attention back to the tablet.

"We’ve hit twelve million! Bidder 74! Anymore takers?" The MC continued to make his announcements, ensuring that everyone in the audience felt like they were missing out if they didn’t bid.

Morgan finally slammed her tablet down on her lap, "Ugh! There are too many bidders! I can’t keep up!"

"Just bid higher," I suggested with a crafty smile. Morgan’s money didn’t matter to me. I would rather Christian have it than her.

"Shut up, I know!" she answered, frustrated. Her finger was furiously tapping the screen as she waited for the MC to update the bids.

"Thirteen million! Going once, going twice...Sold! Bidder 282! Congratulations!"

The audience burst into applause, congratulating the winner of the bid. Morgan slumped back into her said, upset that she didn’t win.

Once the crowd had settled down, the MC moved on to present the next item:

"Ladies and gentlemen, the night has only begun! Our next item is even more enchanting than the first! Behold, these breathtaking sapphire earrings!"

As soon as he finished speaking, another beautifully dressed woman walked on stage holding a black velvet box containing the earrings.

They were the main set of earrings, which were very ornate, and made to fit with the choker necklace and tiara. The reaction was even stronger than with the bracelets; even Morgan lost her dejected attitude and sat straight in her seat.

"I need those!" she cried out, immediately lifting her tablet to try and place the bid.

"This breathtaking pair of earrings is one of a kind! Made with the highest grade diamonds, it’s sure to make a statement piece for any occasion! The starting bid for this pair is three million! Begin!"

As soon as the MC finished his overview, Morgan lifted her tablet. "I placed a bid of five million! Let’s see if anyone can top that!" she said with a smirk.

Not even a few seconds later, the MC announced the bids, "We’re up to ten million! Bidder 35!"

"What? Ten million already?!" Morgan lifted her tablet in a slight panic, placing another bid.

The bids began to slow down slightly after the ten million mark, but the price was still rising steadily.

"Fifteen million, five hundred thousand! Going once, going twice...SOLD! Congratulations, bidder 561!"

In the neighboring booth, a happy cheer cried out. Cherie was jumping up and down in front of her father, tears in her eyes as she smiled.

Noticing mine and Morgan’s gaze, she looked over at us and smiled brightly. I didn’t care much that she won the bid, but Morgan was red in the face from anger.

"The next piece is mine!" she said under her breath.

After the MC finished his congratulatory speech, he began to introduce the next item. "Our next piece is something very special! It is one of the two signature pieces of the entire collection! I promise that none of you has ever seen something this beautiful!"

The lights dimmed, and a soft, ethereal music filled the hall. Everyone stared at the stage with suspense.

Once the music came to its crescendo, the lights turned back on, illuminating the stage. My heart pounded, seeing the stage being filled with thousands of roses to fit the theme. At the center of the stage, a woman held a larger velvet box, ready to open it as soon as the music ended.

"Without further ado, it’s my honor to show off this breathtaking choker necklace!" the MC announced.

The woman on stage lifted the cover off the box, revealing my favorite piece of the entire collection. Unlike the sudden gasps that sounded at the reveal of the bracelets and earrings, the hall this time was completely silent.

Everyone sat frozen, staring up at the stage with wide eyes. It was so quiet that even the MC had a hard time starting the bids.

Christian turned around and looked at me with an equally stunned expression. His reaction was my best reward. I wanted nothing more than to make him proud of me.

A few minutes later, the MC finally announced the beginning of the bid. "We can all agree that this necklace is something that’s never been done before. There’s nothing like this in the world. Our starting bid will be ten million! Please begin!"

Morgan clutched the tablet in her hands so hard that her fingertips turned white. She was pressing the ’increase bid’ button dozens of times, determined to win the necklace.

I pulled my tablet out and looked at the bidding screen, considering whether or not I should bid. It only took me a few seconds to shake my head.

Even if you did bid, you don’t have the money to afford something that starts at ten million.

I scolded myself for even thinking about it.

I hope whoever wins it will cherish it.
