Chapter 57 - 58: Foul-Mouthed Delinquent Girl
CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 58: FOUL-MOUTHED DELINQUENT GIRL
The store clerks were overjoyed, they thought they had offended this man and lost his business, but unexpectedly he happily bought the most expensive bracelet in the store! They quickly confirmed the price with Lu Shifeng, and after knowing he really was going to buy it, they said eagerly, "We have many different sizes of bracelets here. Could we trouble this lady to extend her hand so we can measure and find the most suitable size?"
Su Xingyu shook her head, looking at Lu Shifeng: "I don’t want it."
She had glimpsed the price tag on the bracelet; with her previous income from Cloud Group, she’d have to save for five or six years without eating or drinking to afford it.
There was a thin line of anger between Lu Shifeng’s eyebrows: "Can’t I support you?" She clearly liked it so much.
Su Xingyu said nothing more, if she insisted on refusing, she was unsure what this man might do in public. Oh well, after all, today was about accompanying him shopping, so let him be happy.
She silently extended her wrist, and the store clerks, smiling widely, measured her size while praising her hand shape and skin, and found the bracelet of optimal size for her.
"Sir, could I trouble you to go to the checkout counter at the front?" they said to Lu Shifeng.
So Lu Shifeng went alone to pay. The clerks busied themselves wrapping up the silver bracelet for Su Xingyu, meanwhile using all sorts of compliments to say she had great fortune to have such a considerate boyfriend.
Su Xingyu didn’t correct them, after all, boyfriend and husband were similar terms she didn’t like using for Lu Shifeng.
She stood beside the counter, suppressing her impatience, when suddenly, she heard someone call her: "Su Xingyu?"
She turned her head and saw two girls in cheap clothes with heavy makeup walking over. They looked very familiar—they were her university classmates from the same dormitory building. The third-rate university she attended often produced delinquent girls, and these two were evidently such girls, attracting attention even in a regular commercial district.
"Su Xingyu, it really is you." The two walked up to her, smiling and speaking loudly, "I heard you dropped out, didn’t expect to meet you here. How’s life been after leaving school?"
A few words drew the attention of nearby clerks and customers, a girl who dropped out?
Su Xingyu frowned slightly, her voice somewhat cold: "I’m well, Ye Xiang, Liang Kexin, what a coincidence."
"It is quite a coincidence," among the two girls, the one named Ye Xiang had sharp eyes and immediately spotted the bracelet on the counter beside Su Xingyu. She exclaimed, "Wow, this bracelet is beautiful, Su Xingyu, did you buy this?" As she spoke, she reached out trying to grab it for a closer look.
The clerk stopped her: "Sorry miss, this is a valuable item and hasn’t been paid for, please refrain from touching."
"Hmph, what’s so valuable about it?" Ye Xiang’s face turned sour when blocked, letting out a cold snort, "Isn’t it just silver-plated, how much could it be worth—"
The last word "money" halted abruptly as she saw the price tag. She originally thought the bracelet, being so thick with complex engravings, must be silver-plated, who could afford it if it were real silver or gold? Unexpectedly, the price tag clearly marked: Platinum!
"How could it be..." She looked at the price tag again, incredulously at Su Xingyu, "How could you afford something so expensive?!"
Next to her, the girl named Liang Kexin also leaned in for a look, exclaiming, "Su Xingyu, I remember you being quite poor! Back in school, you couldn’t even afford an extra dish at the cafeteria! How did you suddenly become so rich, unless it’s like what they said, you hooked up with a wealthy benefactor outside!"
Her voice was loud, and those who had already been paying attention began murmuring, a wealthy benefactor?
No one expected a girl in a T-shirt, looking so clean, to actually be doing such sordid things!
Even the clerks’ gazes at Su Xingyu slightly changed.
Su Xingyu was extremely angry: "Liang Kexin, stop talking nonsense!"
"How am I talking nonsense?" the girl named Liang Kexin refused to back down, raising her voice by eight degrees, "Who are you pretending for, it’s all over the school! They said you were entertaining men at nightclubs and got expelled only after being caught by the police! If you weren’t back to your old ways, how could you afford such an expensive bracelet?!"
Su Xingyu’s chest heaved with anger: "I did not!"
All the gazes around were piercing her like needles, she even heard two men not far away discussing: "This chick might not have much meat on her, but her face is alright, could make do for a night."
"You don’t get it, it’s this kind that’s fun in bed, otherwise what do they expect from a flat chest and no hips?"
Followed by a burst of lewd laughter.
Su Xingyu couldn’t endure such humiliation, yet she deeply understood that once such slander was poured on you, it was impossible to clear your name. Even Qin Mu didn’t believe she was innocent back then, how could she expect these strangers in the store to believe her? She turned and started squeezing through the crowd: "Excuse me, make way."
"Wait miss! What about your bracelet?" The clerk urgently called behind her, it was a big sale!
"Miss!" another clerk, "Once that gentleman is done paying, we’ll have him bring it back for you! Let’s just agree on that!"
They were afraid that when Lu Shifeng returned and didn’t see her, he’d just return the bracelet.
The clerks hadn’t called out yet when Ye Xiang and Liang Kexin exchanged triumphant looks, saying to each other, "See? I told you she had a man outside, really tarnishing our school’s reputation."
The onlookers also pointed and talked about Su Xingyu.
Su Xingyu squeezed harder to get out, her eyes red, desperately holding herself back from losing composure.
After only squeezing a few steps, she bumped into someone.
The man’s meticulously crafted suit and white shirt seemed very familiar to her. She looked up, and indeed saw Lu Shifeng once more.
He had just returned from the cash register, still holding the receipt, his other hand steadily supporting Su Xingyu: "You haven’t picked up your item, where are you going."
His voice was deep and calm.
Su Xingyu wanted to cry, but steadfastly put on a stubborn manner, saying nothing. She couldn’t bring herself to tell him about the humiliation she just suffered, it was too embarrassing.
Ye Xiang and Liang Kexin looked at Lu Shifeng in surprise, their eyes widened. They had imagined that if Su Xingyu really did have a sugar daddy, it would be a middle-aged, balding man with a potbelly, or maybe even an old man in his seventies or eighties. But the man before them? Handsome as if sculpted, impeccably dressed, evidently noble and extraordinary, the bearing of someone in a high position that couldn’t be cultivated overnight.
"This..." Liang Kexin stared dumbfoundedly at Lu Shifeng, thinking to herself, no wonder Su Xingyu was willing to sell herself, selling herself to such a man truly was worth a lifetime!
Immediately followed by jealousy, why should a dropout like her land such a perfect man?!
Such a man should belong to her!
