Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin
Chapter 261 - 261 Leave with him
Chapter 261: Leave with him Chapter 261: Leave with him Shang Hexing agreed, “Okay, I will definitely relay the message for you.”
After ending the phone call, Shang Hexing dialed Chen Jinhai, “Have you collected the clothes?”
Chen Jinhai replied, “I’ve got them, Mr. Shang. I’m waiting for the elevator.”
Shang Hexing hummed in acknowledgment and instructed, “Book a ticket to Licheng, the earliest flight in the morning.”
Licheng?
Chen Jinhai’s mind worked quickly, and he immediately guessed something.
The Han Family’s old lady lived in Licheng, and Mr. Shang hadn’t visited Licheng for many years. It was said that the old lady’s health was deteriorating. Now that Mr. Shang was urgently planning to go, it was likely that the old lady was critically ill.
Chen Jinhai didn’t dare delay and immediately booked a flight after hanging up the phone.
…
Wen Zhi also woke up early today.
Aunt Xu brought her warm water and medicine. Wen Zhi frowned upon seeing the medicine and said with a gruff voice, “When can I stop taking medicine?”
She had already developed an expression of suffering.
Aunt Xu coaxed, “As long as your health improves, you won’t need to take medicine anymore.”
Wen Zhi picked up the pill, “I feel like I’m already better. I’m a normal person.”
Aunt Xu replied, “But you still haven’t regained your memory.”
That statement served as a reminder to Wen Zhi.
She hadn’t recovered her memory yet!
After hearing that, Wen Zhi sighed, “Taking this medicine hasn’t helped me remember much of the past. Will I slowly remember everything if I keep taking it?”
Aunt Xu just smiled and didn’t reply.
Whether Wen Zhi would regain her memory by continuing to take the medicine was not for her to say. Moreover, Mr. Nian had mentioned a couple of days ago that he wanted to take Wen Zhi for another treatment, fearing that the medicine might not be very effective and that a treatment might be necessary for better results.
Wen Zhi took the medicine with a pained expression, and Aunt Xu immediately praised her, “Well done~”
Wen Zhi: “…”
After taking the medicine, Wen Zhi went to the courtyard to bask in the sun.
She lay in the chair, eyes closed, secretly planning whether to initiate contact with Shang Hexing today. However, she didn’t have the most direct way to contact him; she would first have to reach out to Chen Zhu.
She opened her eyes and called out to Aunt Xu to help her get the cell phone. When Aunt Xu came out, she was holding the cell phone, saying, “Miss Wen, Mr. Nian happens to be calling.”
Wen Zhi immediately got up and took the phone, “Let me see.”
Upon receiving the phone and seeing that it was indeed Nian Xun calling, Wen Zhi answered with trepidation, “Hello, Nian Xun.”
Nian Xun asked, “Have you taken your medicine?”
Wen Zhi quickly replied, “Yes, you can ask Aunt Xu.”
Nian Xun chuckled, “Do you want to go out today?”
Wen Zhi perked up, “Are you going to take me out today again?”
Nian Xun said, “If you want to, we can.”
She almost blurted out ‘I want to’ but stopped herself.
No, why was Nian Xun suddenly being so nice to her?
“Why aren’t you speaking?” Nian Xun’s voice came through the receiver, seemingly waiting for her decision, yet he was already on his way to Fenghui Garden.
But Wen Zhi didn’t know that Nian Xun was already on the way.
Furthermore, today… she didn’t seem to have a particular desire to go out. After hesitating for a few seconds, she still declined, “I don’t feel like going out today.”
At that moment, Nian Xun, sitting in the car, saw the smile on his lips fade, and he asked, “Why don’t you want to go out?”
Hadn’t she always wanted him to visit her, wanted his company, wanted to go out with him?
Why today…
Wen Zhi replied, “I’m not feeling well.”
Nian Xun’s brow furrowed, a hint of anxiety that he didn’t even notice himself flashed across his face, “What’s wrong?”
There was concern in his anxious words.
Without blushing or skipping a beat, Wen Zhi lied, “Every month, girls have a few uncomfortable days, are you sure you want to ask more?”
There was a moment of silence on the other end before he said, “Then you should rest well.”
Wen Zhi responded, “Mmm.”
Nian Xun hung up the phone and said to his driving subordinate, “Turn around and go back.”
Understanding the order, the subordinate immediately looked for a suitable place to make a U-turn.
Nian Xun fiddled with his phone, his expression lost in thought as if pondering something. After a long moment, he once again slid his phone open and dialed Aunt Xu’s number.
“Mr. Nian.”
An anxious voice came through the phone from Aunt Xu.
Nian Xun asked, “Where is Wen Zhi?”
Aunt Xu glanced over the courtyard and replied, “Miss Wen is sunbathing in the courtyard.”
Nian Xun made a sound of acknowledgment.
Aunt Xu asked, “Will Mr. Nian come over today?”
“I won’t be coming.” Nian Xun instructed, “Take good care of her, and additionally…”
His voice paused for a moment, but Nian Xun still finished articulating his thoughts, “Make sure Wen Zhi doesn’t touch cold water and doesn’t walk barefoot on the floor.”
Aunt Xu quickly said, “I’m always keeping an eye on it. The moment Miss Wen isn’t wearing shoes, I make sure she puts them on immediately before I feel at ease.”
Nian Xun furrowed his brows, suddenly feeling that he was perhaps overly worried. Anyway, she was a patient; he’d consider it as taking care of her.
After ending the call, Aunt Xu went to the courtyard and saw Wen Zhi on the phone with someone.
Aunt Xu thought that after Mr. Nian had hung up, he might have called Miss Wen again, so she didn’t go over to eavesdrop.
But actually, Wen Zhi was now calling Chen Jinhai.
As soon as the call connected, it was answered after just two rings, and Chen Jinhai’s voice came from the earpiece, “Hello.”
Wen Zhi sat up and cleared her throat before replying, “Hello, this is Wen Zhi.”
Chen Jinhai sounded quite surprised, “Miss Wen?”
Meanwhile, Shang Hexing, seated in the back of the car, turned his gaze over.
Chen Jinhai silently switched to speaker.
Wen Zhi’s voice came through the external speaker, “It’s me. I’m calling to ask if Mr. Shang has time today.”
Chen Jinhai was silent, and Wen Zhi thought he was probably still surprised.
In reality, Chen Jinhai was turning to look at Shang Hexing to decide how to respond.
Wen Zhi quickly added, “If he’s busy, it’s okay, just let me know, and I’ll call back another time.”
“Mr. Shang indeed doesn’t have time,” Chen Jinhai responded without Chen Zhu’s cue, compelled to answer truthfully.
Upon hearing this, Wen Zhi felt a momentary sense of disappointment.
“May I ask why Miss Wen is calling? Is there something you need?” Chen Jinhai took the initiative to ask.
Wen Zhi’s voice was low, “Nothing much, just asking casually. I’ll call back another time then.”
As she was about to lower her phone to hang up, another voice came through the earpiece, “I’m going to Licheng now.”
Shang Hexing?
Recognizing Shang Hexing’s voice, Wen Zhi excitedly raised her phone back to her ear, “Shang Hexing?”
He replied, “It’s me.”
By this time, Chen Jinhai’s phone was already in Shang Hexing’s hands.
Wen Zhi’s heart lifted, but upon remembering the phrase he had just mentioned, her smile faded, “You’re going to Licheng, then when will you be back in Laihai City?”
He had just arrived and already he was leaving; he must be very busy.
Shang Hexing said, “I won’t be back for a short while.”
Wen Zhi felt disheartened, “…Oh.”
Her heart sank completely.
She took a breath, her voice even quieter than before, “All right, I understand.”
No sooner had she spoken her words of disappointment than she heard Shang Hexing ask her, “Would you like to come to Licheng with me?”
To Licheng!
Without thinking, Wen Zhi immediately agreed, “I’d like to go!”
