Chapter 21: So Annoying (1)
CHAPTER 21: CHAPTER 21: SO ANNOYING (1)
Baby Hawthorne lowered his head, although extremely reluctant, he still slid off Raina North.
Raina North saw his eyes redden but stubbornly refused to let the tears fall, feeling heartbroken.
"Mommy will stay with you until you fall asleep."
Raina North took the little fellow’s hand and returned to his room, spending a long time coaxing him back to sleep.
Almost the moment the little fellow fell asleep, Raina North immediately stormed back to Elias Hawthorne’s room.
She happened to catch Elias Hawthorne coming out of the bathroom.
The sight of a handsome man post-bath was truly pleasing.
Especially those bruises on his back, all courtesy of her hands.
Instantly, Raina North felt like she was God, single-handedly creating such a handsome guy as The Hell King Hawthorne.
"Get out," Elias Hawthorne commanded sternly, his face dark.
"I have something to say to you," Raina North hadn’t forgotten why she was standing here.
Elias Hawthorne squinted, his voice even colder: "Get out."
"Elias Hawthorne, I said I have something to say to you," Raina North’s attitude became stern and serious, "about Baby’s education."
"I’ll educate my son myself, no one else has the right to intervene, as for you," Elias Hawthorne swept a contemptuous glance at Raina North, "coming in repeatedly while I’m in the bath, you’re that impatient? Raina North, remember your place."
Indeed, she was impatient, impatient to give him a good beating!
"I know very well my place. The Hawthorne Family is a noble family with their own ways to educate the next generation. I respect you, and I didn’t want Baby to see us arguing, so I didn’t say anything earlier, but concerning your recent actions, I cannot agree with them. Being willful is every child’s right. Baby is only five years old, he has the right to be willful, especially in front of his parents."
"Raina North, what position do you have to say these words to me?"
Suddenly, the pressure in the room dropped, Elias Hawthorne seemed calm, yet there was a sense of impending storm.
"Of course, as Baby’s mother. The first time I saw Baby, he was pitiful, like an abandoned puppy, hiding in a cardboard box. The second time I saw him, he was surrounded by a group of people, hysterical, and just now, he was merely expressing a child’s little wish, yet you criticized him harshly. Don’t you think you’re too harsh on him?"
In Raina North’s heart, the little fellow was already her son.
Compared to Casper and Shea, the little fellow seemed well-provided for but was really like a tool locked in a cage.
Though seemingly surrounded by many concerned people, he was actually lonely.
"Since the day Baby was born, he never had a mother, he was abandoned..." Elias Hawthorne didn’t want to use the word ’sold’, not for the sake of the woman in front of him, but to avoid hurting the child.
"I didn’t do it on purpose."
She had a car accident then, in a daze, and didn’t even know the child’s existence for these five years.
Raina North wanted to explain this, but missing five years was a fact.
It was her stupidity, her weakness, she couldn’t even protect her own child.
Raina North quietly lowered her head, no longer having the previous momentum.
Elias Hawthorne looked at her bowed head, a trace of pity flashed in his dark eyes, however, when he recalled her coldness towards the child in the past, plus the calculated seductions since abroad...
She really thought he was as easy to deceive as Baby and his grandma!
His gaze turned icy again, speaking more piercingly: "Mother? Are you worthy?"
...
"Damn Elias Hawthorne, if I am not fit to be a mom, is he fit to be a dad? On what grounds does he criticize me? Was it my choice not to be with Bobby? I haven’t even blamed him for not being part of Casper and Shea’s childhood!"
