CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: MIDNIGHT SCUMBAG TAKEDOWN (PART 2)
Raina thoughtfully wiped the milk stains from his mouth.
"Grandma, I’ll take Baby upstairs first."
Old Mrs. Hawthorne nodded.
After Raina and the little one’s figure disappeared from the dining room, Old Mrs. Hawthorne could no longer hold back her anger.
"Is the call still not going through?"
Aunt Rivers shook her head, looking grave, "Maybe there’s something going on at the company, so the older young master can’t leave."
"Being busy usually is one thing, but working even on a day like today?" Aunt Rivers’s comment made Old Mrs. Hawthorne even angrier, "These two brats have grown up, their wings have hardened, and they both wander around and stay out all night. Do they still see me as their grandmother?"
When Elias Hawthorne returned, he was met with the fury of his grandmother.
"This brat still knows to come home! Hurry up, clean yourself up, and accompany your wife back to her parental home."
Elias wrinkled his brows, "Grandma, there’s something at the company. Let the driver take her there."
"Brat, absent at your wedding, out every night since the marriage, and even today, letting Raina go back home alone. Thankfully, Raina has a good temper and doesn’t hold it against you, but Elias, you can’t just bully people. Even an old lady like me who’s close to the grave knows your behavior is that of a scoundrel."
The thought that the grandson she carefully raised was turning out to be a scoundrel made Old Mrs. Hawthorne feel a stabbing pain in her heart.
"Grandma, are you okay?" Elias asked worriedly, looking at Old Mrs. Hawthorne.
Old Mrs. Hawthorne shook off his hand, "If you don’t want me to be angered to death by you, go right now to The North Family to pick up Raina."
Elias: "..."
Elias had no choice but to nod.
Only then did Old Mrs. Hawthorne relent and turn back to her room to rest.
Elias sighed in relief, turned his head, and met Raina’s subtly smiling face.
Elias’s face instantly darkened.
"You’re very pleased with yourself?"
"Not really, just found it interesting. Seen a lot of pretend grandsons, first time seeing a real grandson," Raina paused, nodding, "Really quite grandson-like."
Elias: "..."
Seeing Elias left speechless and cold-faced due to her teasing, Raina felt even better.
Ten minutes later, Raina sat in Elias’s car, leaving The Hawthorne Family under Old Mrs. Hawthorne’s watchful gaze.
After a while, Raina immediately called for the car to stop.
"I assume you don’t want to accompany me back to my family, let’s stop the car, and we can each go our separate ways, how about that?"
Elias furrowed his brows, "Raina, what kind of trick are you playing now?"
Raina tilted her head, "How about you guess?"
She herself didn’t know what kind of trick she wanted to play, just waited for him to tell her.
Suddenly, a chill filled the car.
After a moment of silence, Elias’s cold voice rang out, "Stop the car."
The car stopped by the roadside.
"Get out."
Raina cheerfully got off the car. Before she could say goodbye, Elias’s car sped away in a cloud of dust.
Raina pouted.
After six years, stepping into The North Family again, Raina suddenly felt a sensation as if she were in another world.
If possible, Raina didn’t want to have any more ties with The North Family, but the elder himself called.
She couldn’t not come.
As soon as she stepped into The North Family’s main door, she was stopped.
"Raina, you really came back? Earlier Uncle said you’d come back today, and I didn’t believe it!"
"Excuse me, who are you looking for?"
"Housekeeper Warren, it’s me."
Housekeeper Warren gasped, "Miss... Miss North!"
"Is Grandpa here?"
"Yes, yes, if the elder knows Miss North came back, he will surely be very happy." Housekeeper Warren cried tears of joy and led Raina to the elder’s room.
Halfway there, a sharp voice came through.
